Ward Saxton here. I barely remember taping this segment, but I do have a picture of it still with me! Lilias White is a very well known singer/actress. Eugene Byrd is a film actor. I have no idea what happened to Alex Cruz. Nor do I remember being a student of Gordon's in science class - but I'm not saying that's wrong. Funny too, because I always thought my "big segment" on Sesame Street was "A Very Simple Dance To Do." Nice to see that this is out there. Peace and love, -Ward
Hi all: This IS Ward Saxton. Thank you so much for posting this video, and for remembering that I was on the show. I thought I was completely forgotten about. After Sesame Street did not renew my contract I did a TV pilot with Brendan Fraser and Stephen Mailer, an HBO True Life Stories episode where I played Trevor Ferrell - a kid who helped homeless people in Philly, an off Broadway musical, etc. I am still an actor/singer/dancer/director, and also an attorney in NY and NJ.
You should get together with some filmmaker and do one of those "Whatever Happened to..." bits. I think a lot of us would like to know about what some of the more obscure Sesame Street Actors are doing today.
Hi Ward A pleasure to have you here on youtube I hope this doesn't offend you but When I was growing up I had a crush on you:) by the way your awsome in a very simple dance
Hi Ward heres a question for you Are you fmailer with the 40 dots animation and if so is there other versions besides the one that is posted here? I seem to recall a version with the dots crashing but then again I could be wrong
@lawdawgzs Good for you Ward glad you're doing well. I was about 5 or 6 when I saw this one. I also remember your character Mike was ALWAYS hungry, that would make me laugh too.
You know, for the longest time, I always thought that Savion was playing the man in charge of the game. (Or someone else, for that matter.) I never really even realized there was a Mike on Sesame Street. When was he on, and for how long?
Mike was on Sesame Street between the years 1989-1991. Mike was the Sesame Street character who worked part-time at the Fix-It Shop, he was a friend of Gina's, and he was also a student of Gordon in Gordon's science class. Also, while Mike was on the show from 1989-1991, he was the one who would always play games and sing songs with the kids on the show.
I agree with you, In my Dreams i saw Savion was in charge of the game and Gina and Alex were his customers. as soon as Alex hits all the bottles down, the stand was on fire.lol
I wonder if Maria is related to that kid Travis or if she is just a friend of his. Or, maybe she is babysitting him while his parents are away and decided to take him to the carnival to treat him out. I am just wondering this because, this is the only skit where I see Maria with this boy Travis, and it was never said that Maria was an aunt, older sister, or grandmother (even though Maria looks young to be a grandmother) etc. of a boy named Travis.
As soon as the stand came back up, and Maria and Travis left, why did the guy look so scared and/or angry? I don't know why he was looking scared and/or angry because his stand came back up and he didn't have to close up at all since he got his stand back up.
This is a wild guess, but I think Mike was confused and/or surprised by HOW the stand went back up. If you ask me, he looked at us as if to say... "How'd he do that?" "I don't understand." and "Go figure." all at the same time.
Yes you're right. Those three reasons you mentioned of why Mike (couldn't remember his name) looked at the audience sound true. I can also tell because after Maria and Travis left, Mike quickly pointed his eyes in the direction they went, and then he looked at the audience looking like he was saying those three things. (Mike sure was good, too bad he's not on Sesame Street anymore).
I agree. That kid must be a very strong kid or maybe one of the legs that was holding up the stand was broken or loose. Maybe this is the reason why the stand fell down so easily.
I'm sure that they were trying to revive both sketches at the same time: the one where Ernie tries to knock down all the bottles and the one where Cookie Monster tests his strength.
LOL. Ok, so he would have been out of business if the stand had fallen over but it miraciously came back up but now he had no ball to promote it with!

This is a remake of the Ernie and Herry Monster sketch. Who is the guy? Never seen him on Sesame Street.

Ward, you are a great actor and a great lawyer, although I'm not sure there is much of a difference between acting and being a lawyer.

Ever since I was little, and I am 25 now, Maria, Bob, and Gordon were my favorites. Maria was beautiful then and she still is now.

You sure did a good job as Mike, Ward. I was lucky enough to be the right age at that time.

So whatever did happen to Ward Saxton, Eugene Byrd, Lillias White, and Alexis Cruz?

Shouldn't he have put all the bottles back up before the kid through the ball?

Stands don't usually fall over after knocking down all the bottles.

I guess they wanted to try and revive the sketch in which Cookie Monster tested his strength.
