if he ever loses a limb I don't think it's gonna hold him back that much. By practicing these independence ideas, it really helps you in other areas of your playing with fills, grooves etc...nothing feels uncomfortable or unatural, cause you're training your brain to become accustomed almost infinite combinations between your hands and feet, awesome musician.

I agree its a bit extensive, hes quite machine like, a machine with a soul mind you, so it would be damn near impossible to fit that into a band situation, and even if you DID manage somehow, it wouldnt be very easy listening. But far from pointless :)

Trust me 4 ways independant is like everything else. Write it out all parts then practice it very slow you can do it too. Don't try go fast, and also be patient as you would do it one beat at a time. S L O W is the key . I have used left foot claves on stage before with a band. Only there then you can say you did it, real time and double time claves too. No matter how difficult it seems, if you can see it on a piece of paper music, you can see it's a matter of matching up the subdivision slowly

Most of us practice something for about 2 minutes then get drummer ADHD and start jamming. Either way...jamming for 8 hours or practicing would probably get you that good haha

@drummer265 I used to have that problem man. What I started doing is working on rudiments. I keep a practice pad and a chair setup in my living room and bedroom. Whenever me and my wife are watching a movie I'll try doing my rudiments and watch the movie. Now I do them almost subconciously.

its not that im any better than thomas lang (well he is the world's best drummer as of 07) but ive been studying marco minnemann's interdependence book and ive learned that you can make independence easier in a way if you practice half of the pattern it becomes natural to you, then try adding a new pattern on top.
