It is a harder game to learn how to fight well in but you can also man tanks, ship and ground guns. search hitechcreations. free to download but pay to play 15 bux per month versus online players

@caching60098 The bombers shown in this video were the Japanese G4M2 Bettys. Notably missing, if they had been B25s, are the twin verticle stablizer and rudders.

It includes the Lexington's World War II service, including the attempted raid on Rabaul, the raids on Lae and Salamaua, and the Coral Sea battle. The author notes that the Lexington's 8" deck guns were removed shortly before Coral Sea to augment her 1.1" AA armament. During the Coral Sea battle, a Japanese bomb fell just over the flight deck and landed harmlessly into the water. Had the 8" guns remained, the bomb would have hit a turret and killed everyone on the bridge, including the author.
I read about this epic encounter in Queen of the Flat Tops, by Stanley Johnston (story of the U.S.S. Lexington, CV-2, from her commissioning to her sinking at the Coral Sea). A very good read. This book includes the carrier's pre-war service, such as when the ship supplied electricity for the town of Tacoma during the winter of 1929-1930 when that town lost power, and the ship's participation in the search for Amelia Earhart.
@lucaspylipow there are a few online games still. Aces High II is where the LTDs are now, there is also Warbirds and Battleground Europe (WWIIOL). they all charge to play
IL2 is free but I don't even know how to play that game online
@LTDcunuk Storm of war is coming out soon for IL-2 grafix look awsome but its not the Fighter ace we use to have fun with ...I remember telling ken That jet fighter are going to kill F/A take the time and make what we have better ..real citys and ground candy...we got jets which were fun for about a week
My Dad, who turns 90 this year, tells me about this battle as one of his favorites. He was on deck that day, on one of the 3 or 4 heavy cruiser guarding the LEXINGTON called the Indianapolis . He said they saw all these Jap planes coming from the distance as they came closer and closer. All of the sudden from above came our guys . He said Butch would make circles in the air hitting planes from under neath and from above. He saw him get the 5 in one day.... awesome to hear my Dad tell......
@plucas4u Great story! My Dad was stationed in England in the USAAF in WWII and know so little of what he did. It burns my ass that I did not pump him for all the stuff he did and saw. He did say he got a bottle of wine from General Patton for air dropping supplies to him. Get your Dad talking and turn on the recorder. God bless him. Remember, he'll take it all with him.

@Spad, this vid is not in-game footage, but rather, it is my interpretation of a historical event
In the war, the Japanese bomber pilots were very good at what they did. That was, flying in close formation and hitting their targets. I'm not sure what you think a 2 engine medium bomber could do in real life, but it could NOT dog fight

do u mean that ALL YOUR SQUAD took off from 1 carrier AND how do u shoot down bombers with A 2 Missiles cuz i cant lock on to em do u have to just guess the distance and lead?
though I'm more into air battles ... the most astonishing ship to ship battle would have to be Taffy 3S historic last stand at Samar. The odds would make any man puke. We learned a lot from that battle ... especially "knowing what your target is". Luckily we didn't have to learn it the hard way... But the Japanese sure embarrassingly did. Any1 familiar with any video documaries of this? or any other shear luck and guts battle wins?
Yes, Butch downed 5 enemy bombers alone, as is shown in the vid. This is after another flight from his carrier, which included James Thach, shot down another flight of bombers. this is also shown in the vid. Thanks for commenting

Aces High II is a fun game, but all of my buds play Fighter Ace, so I stay there. Plus it is better for making films than AH2
graphics are better in IL2 though. I have seen a few vids made with it and they are very nice

to take off, all you need to do is go to full throttle. your plane will automatically go to the catapult

we all(those of us in this film) took off from one carrier and landed on another so we could all be seen for the video to make it look more realistic
We did not use A2A missiles to shoot down the bombers. Nothing says lovin like 4 .50 cals hummin

Not bad.. Graphics are great, especially the flames. But that lagging makes it looks kinda stupid, and planes looked way too easy to control.

lol the Lancaster2 vid took me only about 2 hrs to make. The more historic ones I make take on average, about 45 hours
