Thus began the development for the Frostbite engine... XD But seriously, this is one of the best games I played when I was younger. It was one of the first instances where I had to apply logic and strategy to win, alongside Pokemon and other things. LOVE IT!

I remember this. I played this back in the day, before everyone looked at guides when they got stuck. When people would fuck around for hours in Killer instinct learning finishers and special techniques!

Me and my brother got EVERY SINGLE FUCKING GOLD CARD without a guy and it took forever. Doing anything and every thing to a boss in case they had the card. Damn near cried when we unlocked The Rainbow Palace.

Took me more than two fucking hours to figure out this puzzle

@veldross1 haha or random whatever crap to unlock Luigi."Hit all the targets with mario" "leave the game running for 15 minutes" hell, i unlocked the rainbow palace only to stay stuck on the first level for YEARS. only when i went back to the game did i figure out you had to use that bomb-hop trick to jump that they never explain. you have to catch it in a clip during the CREDITS!! seriously, that would not fly today.

I could never solve this level and had ultimately given up like 6 years ago when I could not figure out how to get up to those buttons... I also could not return to the inside after I would walk out for the costume parts....This level forced me to stop playing that game I liked so much.

This level was hell for me. I didn't know how to exactly beat this stage. I had to deal with enemies who blew up your bombs which was annoying. To get that switch in the top left, I made this giant ladder from the top center of the stage to the pillar where the switch is, and I was lucky i made the ladder big enough to kick me all the way there, i had to deal with SUPER precise timing so that the bombs were in perfect position when i jumped. I spent hours on this

when i first saw this video a few years back i was saying: I must be dreaming...

This year i unlocked this stage and realized you had to collect the 5 cards in each level to beat it 100% i said: No way...

Then i got all the cards and realized that it was just easy mode. When my friend insisted i try hard mode, i almost gave up on life (but i beat it)

This level is really hard if you don't know the secret, pretty easy if you do (placing bombs on the staircases), and ridiculously easy if you know the even bigger secret: dizzy jumping all the way up to the ledge below the button (can be done in one dizzy jump if you lay a bomb under the one that hits you on the head) then dizzy jumping again onto the button.

I actually did this just earlier tonight!

1: Burn his cape, best by having him jump and land on an exploding bomb.

2: When he uses the card that makes a shadowy hand thingy reach out at you, place a bomb so that the explosion hits the hand.

3: Burn his hat, best done by hitting him with a bomb's explosion when he draws a card that makes him sink into the floor temporarily.

And of course the fourth is given to you automatically, and the fifth is to finish in the target time.

In each level, you can get one by killing 30 enemys. When the 30th enemy dies, a card will come out. If you can beat a level within it's time limit, you get another one at the end of the lvl.

that was the best game ever...though it took me like 2 years to beat, i loved it and i could never turn it off. the best level is definitely rainbow palace...it's such a challenging level, and you have to work to get there. for the longest time, i had 119 gold cards...i was never able to beat the level in the time limit until sometime 5 years ago or something like that..but yeah, that definitely brought back many memories
