Sorry but none of these tutorials help, no one explains the most important things, like the detail on the burnbing mans face, the amount of paint overlays going on, how do you get those effects?, and how did he create the mans beared?
@SamHain1031666 The movies on You Tube from The Illustration Academy / Visual Literacy Program are not "tutorials." They are small segments taken from the actual tutorials ranging from 30 minutes to 6 hours long. To see the actual tutorials, (about 35 of them at this time), you can join the Visual Literacy Program.
@digitalguy321I know the feeling. If you would like to learn oil painting I would recommend schoolism (dot) com and just keep practicing. Everyone starts at zero, it's the only way to get better. You can do it.
@krissthebliss Oil paint can take days to dry but in thin layers it can dry fairly quickly, depending on the paint and oil you use. Though I imagine this would have been exported into photoshop via a digital camera.
what mediums does he use for his work, i love it. how does he get the paint to flow so smooth and liquid like, is it linseed oil? him , rick berry, and phil hale all have similar styles that i love, and want to paint like.
Never painted with a rag before. I'm going to have to try that.
