  • Perfecta, simplemente Perfecta.

  • Grace. She sure can sing, and kick your *ss [Conan, The Destroyer !].

  • Grace is just that, GRACE. She's been an inspiration to all. A Femme Fatale for ages. She's what the late 70's and early 80's were all about. She made me feel wanted and somebody. We're all different and she brings that out of everyone, and that's a good thing. Thanks Grace.

  • y a juste Édith Piaff qui peut chanter cette chanson comme il faut ! Le reste c juste du simili poulet

  • I thought she was African. She looks so african.

  • All these people always bitching about lady gaga. As if there isn't room for more than one freak in the world!

For shame, the freakier the better.

  • Great disco version. I used to play it often way back in the early 80's when I worked as a DJ. People liked it

  • everyone is making it seem like we are listening to Grace Gaga here. This is so different than Lady gaga so why the comparison?

  • SUMMER OF SAM

  • there's something I don't understand What does Lady Gaga has to do with Grace Jones?

  • @crazymangas

    thank you!

  • @Lozie82 always a pleasure ;p

  • @crazymangas she has cited her as her inspiration in terms of fashion and music. Although, since she's blown up she no longer credits her for her unique style that many feel was originally Grace Jones'. Unfortunately, Lady Gaga no longer acknowledges Grace Jones despite the fact that her style comes from her.

  • @opheliaroxs17 oooohhh!! okey i didn't know thanks =) but that 's stupid from her i'd be pround to say that my inspiration is Grace Jones...

  • @crazymangas no prob =) I agree with you 100% I just hope she gets out of this phase before it starts to hurt her career, or her personal life

  • @crazymangas that's pretty much the deal

  • @crazymangas Gaga is an "ersatz"...

  • @crazymangas Sweety educate yourself Grace Jones was groundbreaking in Fashion, Music, & movies but you can go search and you will see not only does gaga take from Grace's style she also takes from her stage presence, as well as David Bowie and Freddie Mercury and makes it her own and its not copying its actually paying respect, its funny if Grace had Blonde hair and blue eyes you would say Gaga is copying don't look at color look at Artistry Grace is a #TRUEARTIST 1st of her kind and Legend <-

  • @RunwayBrandon okey i was just wondering but thanks for the answer =)

  • AWESOME! Grace is a BAD BROAD!

  • buona giornata amore mio

  • Grace does a respectable cover on this song. To really feel the emotion of this song and it is an incredible song, check out the Edith Piaf version.

  • the theme to 2008 spring summer dolce and gabbana! such a great show!

  • the best

  • Exactly. Good music is good music whether it sells millions or not. ;) Grace Jones has the real it factor. :)

  • i always imagine this song in lord of war !!

  • @sentimetal47 lol, why so?

  • Lovely song! She has a special way to show her wonderful voice. Thanks Grace Jones, for this presentaion!

  • I Must Say GRACE JONES' VOICE On This Song Is AMAZING, I Have NEVER Thought Of LADY GAGAS' VOICE As AMAZING, Sorry GAGAFANS, Just The TRUTH! Peace To ALL!

  • I LOVE THIS WOMEN SHES LIVING ART AND ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MODELS IVE EVER SEEN

  • Josephine Baker is smiling down on this omage to her. She would have been thrilled to meet Grace Jones!

  • la mejor version k he escuchado a edih piaf no se la toca por la epoca y la historia

  • I have loved this song sung by the great Grace for years...Its just-----Cool.

  • Anyone that can manage a music career is talented. Talent is overrated. I think staying sane faced with the demands of your public, your manager, your production company, your personal life and your own creative beliefs is ultimately the most important. Money is merely a tool, much like your voice or your dance ability... its how you use it. Fame truly is the monster and an artist can never be perfect but she can be perfect for her fans.

  • Let's hear Lady BlahBlah sing in French....

  • @exModiaBlog lol look up Lady Gaga on Taratata.

  • @WindTouzoku Yeah, she's embarrasing on that show. Should have used a phonetics teacher.

  • Say what you want about her against Gaga but it's a FACT that Lady Gaga is MUCH hotter.

  • @WindTouzoku Nobody gives a tiny SHIT who is hotter. I'm sure that Lady Gaga would rather be as talented as Grace, as opposed to hotter.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA

    LOL more talented?

Someone hasn't looked up "pokerface acoustic".

Show me anything grace jones has performed that is anywhere close to that raw talent.

  • @WindTouzoku I swear to God I nearly pissed myself laughing at that comment!

'Someone hasn't looked up "pokerface acoustic".'

    Well actually, this someone has.

If you think that is raw talent you are seriously deluded.

Talented people don't need to write songs that are "euphemisms for cock", like Gaga does. But then again, there's no seeing sense for and obsessed Queen like you.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA what about the song Grace sung called Pull upto the bumper " with the lyrics "pull upto the bumper babe in your long black limousine" what do you think that is a euphemism for

  • @spongebobsquaretits Please cut the bullshit. Yes, that song had sexual meanings, but it wasn't cheap or sleazy. There's a difference between Pull up to the Bumper, and a song about pretending a man is a woman while you're fucking him, which Gaga writes about.

Why bother pretending that it isn't true? Gaga's songs are cheap pop music, catchy and fun to dance to, but that's it.

  • me encanta

  • Grace Jones is a model, actress, and singer; and she is accomplished in all fields. Lady Gaga is no comparison. But as its said "imitation is the greatest form of flattery" BIG UP Jamaica!!!!

  • formidable

  • facebook

  • me encanta esta canción!when I hear this reminds me of Yuri in Lord of War....

  • @cotynita me too, a wonderful love story between Yuri Orlok and Ava Fonatine, he created the situation

  • @dandybrit However I think Ava was so fucking selfish....Youri needed a woman like me ....

  • @cotynita and...how are you?

  • DIVAS!!!!

  • Grace Jones=Slave to the rhythm

Lady Gaga=Slave to consumerism and commerciality.

If that makes Gaga more famous then so be it. Grace is living art, and people should realise a successful performance artist is not one who sells loads of records it is one who makes original, good music.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA Also, Rihanna is most definitely inspired by Grace Jones as well

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA totally agree!!!

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA Well Lady Gaga wants to influence a mass audience with her art, so she must tone it down a bit but the idea is still there.

Grace's audience is smaller, so she can do whatever she wants to do, which is great too. Different point of views.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA your an idiot

  • @jezmcox No, you are :D

Just another obsessed, queeny Lady Gaga fan are you?

  • Lady G is at least as talented as GJ. She writes her own material, as well as material for other artists. I don't think GJ did.

Question in point - they both act weird as shit ("living art" as you put it). I believe they have both exaggerated this to increase their commercial potential and, now at the end of the day, both feel a sense of entitlement to really be weird.

People should realise a successful performance artist is one who DOES sell loads of records. Just ask the people buying them.

  • @jezmcox You're speaking about commercial success, not musical success.

Grace Jones definetley does not act "weird as shit" to increase her commerciality, because she isn't commericial at all!

Let's face it, Gaga only dresses up like that to get attention and a bit of a gimmick.

I didn't mean to say that L Gaga has no talent. Some of her songs are good and catchy, but ultimately they're just pop music, without any real deep meaning.

LG said herself GJ is one of her biggest influences.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA

Who cares if shes singing about taking a shit, she has an amazing voice and can play the piano. and sounds better than Tranny Jones.

Show me something Tranny Jones can do that's similar to that.

You just don't like her because she's mainstream, you could at least acknowledge her talent.

  • @WindTouzoku Why are you here then? I just said she has catchy fun songs, she just isn't the talented genius that loads of queens think she is.

After all, Grace Jones is one of the people that Gaga copies, and her fav. performance artist.

You really are clueless about music if you think Gaga is more talented.

P.S. I can play the piano, it's nothing special

  • @jezmcox duranduran

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA

why cant two good artsist be good on their own. why do they have to be compared

  • @yellotaxibuffoon9 You're right. Two good artists needn't be compared. However, Lady Gaga isn't a good artist, so it doesn't apply. Plus, two artists, good or bad, will always be compared if one of them is a rip-off of the other.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA what makes gaga a good artist is that she writes her own songs and and music. her words are catchy and they mean something. you cant deny that lady gaga isnt good at what she does which is art. even before she was gaga she was amazing

  • @yellotaxibuffoon9 Good God. If you honestly believe that then what is happening to culture? Lady Gaga is art? That's farcical nonsense.

Yes, I will agree that her songs are catchy. But then so is Syphilis.

Anyone can write their own music. It takes talent to write GOOD music, which so far Lady Gaga has not done.

What Lady Gaga does is not art, it's bubblegum pop. So if you like that kind of poppy rubbish then yes, she's good at what she does.

  • @yellotaxibuffoon9 Just one more thing. Here songs are not as meaningful as you think they are. Let's examine some. "Money, Money, Money". It's about how bad and destructive money is. WOW. How unoriginal, that must be the most overdone song in the world. ABBA's song is better.

I can't remember which song it was, but she described one of her songs as a "euphemism for cock". How artistic and deeply meaningful. Not. What about her videos? Controversial and ground-breaking? No, but they try to be.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA you obviously need to come the fuck out of your shell. lady gaga is the future of pop music. even if you dont think so she is dominating everything and everyone has their 15 minutes of fame but it seems like she is here to stay as you said like "syphilis" she is going to infect us with her music and inject us with a dose of freedom. and the song was called lovegame the lyrics is "i wanna take a ride on your DISCO STICK" and don't you fucking forget it.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA if she has not written good music how come people like elton john, cher, and beyonce want to work with her so badly. in 1964 the beatles were pop music in 2010 lady gaga is pop music and its seems like its going to stay that way. bubble gum pop is britney spears and mandy moore NOT lady gaga

  • @yellotaxibuffoon9 Elton John wasn't bubblegum pop like Lady Gaga. And famous people will do or say anything. They'll cash in on what's popular, that's what they do!

However, Grace Jones rejected Lady Gaga's requests for a collaboration, because she didn't want to work with somebody who copied off of her. Grace Jones, one of Gaga's idols. I never said all pop music was bad, just the crap stuff. Don't take my words out of context.

But at least we agree, Lady Gaga is like Syphilis and Hepatitis.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA haters to the left. grace jones can fuckin suck it

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA You guys are some serious haters. Lady Gaga obviously makes good, quality music. Just because someone's popular doesn't mean they're sellouts. Lady Gaga was famous when she first hit the scene. It's not like she changed into something else just to be famous. Also, simply because she's weird doesn't mean she copied Grace. Grace adopted an androgynous, harsh appearance while Lady Gaga is just... out there..

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA In the end, there's no solid basis for the statement that Gaga ripped off Jones. Her music is totally different; her image, although eccentric, is not really similar to Jones', It's like you're finding an excuse to downplay an evidently talented artist because she's popular. That's not fair and it's full of bias. In order to appreciate Grace Jones doesn't mean you have to slander other artists.

  • @ MrK I don't look down on Lady Gaga's work because she's popular, it is instead because of it's lack of original melodies/style, and song meanings which have been done to death. I will admit her music is catchy, but so is Syphilis.

Surely you've seen the interviews in which she says that she was always different, wearing odd clothes. Is that why pics have surfaced of her wearing A&F? SUCH an oddball. She has also contacted old boyfriends to buy back old photos of her looking normal. Look it up.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA agreed with that, and as you said. Slave to the rythm. not this song, seeing as its just a cover by someone with even more talent.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA What a shit kind of comment...

  • @pfvb88 As opposed to your marvellous comment? At least mine made grammatical sense. You're poorly phrased sentence with it's crass, inarticulate language really shows how common and spiteful you are.

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA errrrrr.......I hope you're not suggesting that this is the original "La Vie en Rose"

  • @BarbaShime No. Read my comment again and you will see that nowhere do I suggest this is the original version, or that it is her song...

  • @NISHOYINGWENMA i understand what your saying and it is a valid point but you have to understand that gaga is a product of this generation and if this generation is the slave to consumerism and commerciality(not a word btw) gaga is the art of this generation she echoes all aspects of our modern culture. I'm not a fan gaga nor do i hate grace jones i think is a phenomenal singer i just say what i see

  • Love Grace Jones. One of a kind performer. Very exotic flamvoyant and exotic women.

  • Sexiest modern version...faccccinatinggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • muito talentosa e charmosa essa negra maravilhosa! cantora e artista como no filme "Conan o destruidor". muito competente! sou fã de carteirinha dessa mulher deste a decada de 80....

  • This song is perfect

  • She'd the audience waiting for her, no matter how late she was for a performance. The crowd would get angry, and the more she liked that, and when she went on stage they all went wild, as if she was the best thing since sliced bread!! What a power she had on them at the time!!. Not many have had this affect on their fans, like she had back in the '80's, and that's a fact!!

  • She is a Goddess, one of the true originals and innovators. She was doing a performance of this in a club in the early 80s and during the instrumental break she looked upstage at the stage lights until it made her left eye water - then turned back around to face this audience with this huge tear in one eye to finish the song. It was inspired and the audience went wild.

    l'amore non ha eta'....

  • great inspiration great respect of edith piaf song ...

  • Oh! what great memories Ms. Grace has given us. Reminds me of the many times I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing her singing in person, some live and some lip-sync, whichever it was always above reproach! God Bless You Grace!

  • oh my gods, we love you so much Grace....your voice is So beautiful

  • i am French and i have to say after all the versions i heard, this is the best one, her accent is lovely!

  • Awesome Grace Jones, strong female voice, have always enjoyed her music

  • SUCH A GREAT ARTIST

  • Everytime I hear this track, I always remember that terrible male go go dancer in the film " Summer of Sam" doing a so called erotic male review. Anyone remember it....it's absolutely hilarious!!

  • lol...i'v seen the movie but i cant remember that bit, thank god! it reminds me of lord of war, when nick cage is kissing his future wife on his private jet. a much better mental picture...lol

  • You know the bit in the film where the punk rocker with the mohican haircut does a dance in the "Male World" strip joint; while he's doing his thing he pulls out his knife and starts to stab the stuffed mannequin.

  • damn, i didnt ask you to remind me. i was quite happy to of forgotten it. now i share your mental picture, thanks....lol

  • One of my favourite songs ever... pity it's the short version... I'm glad that my dad made me listen this song is beautiful... thanks for the post !!! XD

  • La vie en rose, la vie en rose, la vie en rose...lol

  • I first heard this at Infinity disco in NYC in 1977. I loved it then and love it even more now.

  • Diva.

  • Awesome!!!!!! Love it, very sexual!

  • Never through Grace was much of a singer. To be honest, hand't heard any of her stuff. I was watching Lord Of War (Awesome film btw) and this song was in it, and it blew me away and thought was such a CHOON, then found out it was Grace and couldn't beleive it! SUCH A CHOOOON!!!

  • I found this song out through Lord of War as well. Before today, Edith Piaf was the closest I came to the movie version...and today I stumbled across it, AWESOME!

  • well, i'm glad you finally get it! i saw her last month at the Hollywood Bowl. Legendary performance. You should YT La Vie En Rose live at Hollywood Bowl July 09 !!! AMAZING!!!!!!

  • yes i like this Grace made a great rrespect of rythm and soul of this song and gave a new emotion ...very nice version

  • This is the best version of the Edith Piaf classic. Grace is wonderful!

  • J'adore cette version, terriblement classe cette nana!
