what a wonderful song and I felt honor that one of the greatest singer of all time sangs our very own Dahil sa iyo. I would love to have a copy of this song. Thanks Mr. Nat King Cole.
yes, this is real, my mother was pregnant that time, for my eldest brother and she went to the concert with my dad in 1962 at the Araneta Coliseum, my mom really loves Nat King Cole, she got the chance to shake hand with Mr. Cole. it was really an "Unforgettable" experience for her. thanks for sharing "dahil sa 'yo" Nat's rendition.
Ridiculed by fellow Filipinos who think speaking with an accent is "baduy".
Maybe it's because Filipinos are generally good at imitation that's why it comes off as a negative thing if you can't imitate a good english accent. hahah!
Not really for that reason (good at aping). I find it really sick that we are pleased ,and even feel proud, hearing our language mangled by non-filipinos, and yet we condemn us when we commit errors in utilizing a language not generally practiced in our homes. Glaring examples of this contemptible attitude are the numerous negative comments regarding Janina´s gaffes in english during the event´s interview (go to Janina San miguel-Bb. Pilipinas question and answers).
Well English is our second language. Filipino isn't theirs.
Besides, the "error" that I found adorable is a PRONUNCIATION error. Janina's are syntactic errors which are quite unforgiveable considering she's a mass com (or was it broad com?) student in college.
This "English is our second language" claim has not only become a banal line but also an inutile proprietorship if only because only a small percentage of our population could really speak this language. Can we really assert that view while practicing this language in "Barok" and telegraphic styles?
Janina´s errors in English, whether they were syntatic or whatever, should have been also adorable to foreign ears if you consider their own errors melodic.
muy bien nat king cole, cuando el cantare este canto,el senior nat king cole gustare para cantar este canto "dahil sayo"(porque de ti) because of you..he's very nice, how he sing this song..terrifico..viva filipinas!!! long live philippines!!! mabuhay pilipinas...actually akoy isang pinoy at akoy isang bisaya at akoy tubong mindanao at akoy taga iligan city the city of the water falls...gracias..thanks..salamat sa kanta..good po sa inyo...

Right! And when we Filipinos speak or sing in english with a strong local accent, we are ridiculed!

Whoever said we practice it in a "barok" style?
I don't know about you but grammatical errors hurt my ears more than pronunciation errors do.
