such hatred & bigotry! read maybe half the comments and began to feel the rage too. the shit spoken & the anger it invokes is contagious, many commenters felt the pull. didn't your mother tell you not to spread such venom?
I went to the SLC shows then to Vegas only to see DeG (no offense to the others.) I'm not goth, don't eat pocky or bring reading material, I've loved DeG since the beginning & not been in Hot Topic for years.
BRAINCONSTRUCTION thanks for posting. everyone else play nice-nice.
What's with all the hate for Hot Topic? It's not like the store says 'hey.. listen to this, because it'll make you cooler.' They just sell the clothes and CD's that are sent to them. If they happen to carry an 'underground' item.. so what? That's how a lot of bands become mainstream..
(to Fireflys: I'm sorry to hear that and hope you get better soon.) and to allsensesaredead: I have been a fan for well over a year now and I know almost every lyric to every song and it's translation. I didn't get into Dir en grey from Hot Topic, I heard about it from a friend and began listening to the music because I LOVED it. I found out about lots of Japanese bands ONLINE. Only recently did I know they were selling their stuff at Hot Topic!
(cont'd) I am a dedicated fan who understands that for a band to try and break into a scene they have to play the small shows in order to play the bigger ones. Yeah the show wasn't nearly half as amazing as if it had been another Osaka-jo Hall or a Blitz 5 days, but for them to have the guts and come over here and not give a shit about what people thought and play to their real fans, I give them a lot of credit.
It's hard to come to a country where no one knows you and to try and play shows that are ten times smaller than the ones in your home country. I think that this is a beginning, and they're definitely not done yet.
In the lyric book it's "Loveless Cult" so when I heard the song start up, and from watching other lives, I knew that Kyo doesn't say that lyric and so I screamed it when I heard no one saying it ^_^
the song is called Merciless Cult, and he says "romanticist" a bit after the beginning of the song, as far as I know there's no "loveless cult" in the lyrics :D
I know it's Merciless Cult, I mean in the chorus he says Loveless Cult. I know it isn't in the lyric book but he screams something along with the band before "Aishi kudasai" and I always heard it as loveless cult.
Directly from my book: the pessimistic you The merciless you And the self loving you, What are you looking at? With comparing and getting things in proportions you scream out mad You wanted this ending to happen You must be a romanticist (This is where I hear loveless cult) Please love me (Aishi Kudasai), this blood and the meaning Please love me, this day and the value gasp for breath I have the english booklet obviously
O_O omg you're right. I'm sorry for being an idiot all this time >.< I always heard it that way and thought it was something they left out of the book. I'm sorry it took this long, but thanks for correcting me >.< I feel like a complete idiot now >.<
I feel like a complete failure as a Diru fan. This seems like an absoluetly amazing performance and I didn't go see it. I'm like beating myself up about it now.But the reason I didn't go is because I dont like the Deftones... they sound like a horrible band that tried to mix rap and rock and failed miserably. I didn't see much of a point to staying just through Diru and leaving after them... I fail.
You did an awesome job recording this though!! I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! XDDD
WOW! You did an awesome job of filming while being tossed around in the pit. Looks like you were a few rows back. I was hanging onto the rail for dear life and still had trouble keeping myself upright. *applause* This brought back so many memories... the energy of that night was so intense. *sighs* Thank you so much.
Kyo's voice isnt great live, but then again, listen to any of their cd's and try to reproduce that. They are a great live band none the less, if you go to shows expecting to hear the cd, then save your money and listen to it in your car, room, ipod, whatever..
I think Kyo's voice is incredible live. It's not cardboard-cutout technically perfect like a Gackt, but it is awesome in it's emotion and energy - and that tends to interfere with technical-perfection. Plus that new squealing shriek he's doing lately, just since Marrow... he actually pulls that off live, which was... surprising.
nobody said that FoT sucks. I've liked both bands for years (5+ look at my e-peen.) You're the only one talking shit about any band. Listen to '99 Dir en grey and tellme that's emo scene hot topic bullshit.
the highlight of the show, chino likes to play with the music so it doesnt get stale. so he starts singing "im bringing sexy back" at half the speed and weaves it into their song perfectly.
all worry left when chino SANG the words to lhabia instead of covering the mike to make his words almost unitelligible that they were playing hard because it was new york city. and there sound was good but it was so loud when the bass and drum played at the same time it was distorted.light show really good. chino hyped the crowd and said thank you after every other song. they did a beautiful rendition of passenger and played say it aint so.
im a huge deftones fan and i know it's a special kind of music that only certain people can appreciate. keeping this in mind the first 3 songs were blasted through almost as if the were trying to save time. i was worried as i saw the band tell back stage to adjust some of the sound, because a few times i've seen deftones the sound is the best and they seem pissed off the whole time. but it was fast and smooth sailing after that.
but by the 3rd or 4th song the all looked crazed and excited thrashing and moving around on stage. kyo as usual cut himself and bled the rest of the set. the sound was just like the cd's if not better.
i came all the way from newport news, virginia to see dir en grey and deftones. i was not disappointed. dir engrey played alot of the new stuff and the crowd started to feel after the 2nd or 3rd song. i was worried because kyo was on fire and yet the rest of the band seemed to not know what to think of the crowd.
also did anyone notice the lights got turned off on them i thought they were getting kicked off the stage and started to cheer but it was a bad technician.
great show. i think we can all agree the fall of troy sucked ass. the bassist looked bored and i bet the drummer failed band in high school last yr because their rhythm transitions were fucked. the guitarist was ok but i felt like he was a mars volt wannabe because of the way he was playing and dancing and even throwing the mike around. i had my back turned until dir en grey played.
omg, it's the same hate from the family values tour all over again! haha, that sucks... but thanks for postin this video! now i really cant wait to see them!
Are shows for music or to get drunk and push everyone around? Not everyone who listens to this band are scene hot topic faggots. But most of them are.
lol kiss me kill me? Nice try, that isn't a song. Are you thinking of child prey? On another note, "diru" and The Deftones are excellent and talented in their own right (albeit six years ago for dir), but are ultimately unrelated entities. The Deftones invited them onto their tour, so blame them.
I'm not a fan. My fiance is. So she took me to the concert. I had no choice. But I'm so grateful to her that she did. DEG fucking rocks! They were amazing! Just unbelievable. Just wow. I wanted to jump into the moshpit from which I was separated by just one row of people (but my fiance kept a short leash) and I've almost lost my voice.
well, I think I'll just plain ignore the Diru hater over there... kind of regreting responding to him in the first place, since I don't think that arguing will solve this. You can have your opinions, whatever and I'll keep mine. Sorry for plaguing this video with arguments .__.;; ... I wished they played conceived sorrow haha I would've cried like a baby XD;
ha to the dir en grey hater, I'm actually pissed that hot topic endorses them because I hate that store. I knew them before and I look up the translations so I know what they are saying. If people actually stopped bashing them just because they are Japanese and read the lyrics maybe they would change their minds, or they are just shallow
Wow, so much hatred. I didn't really know them before the Tones show but hell, they can put one hell of a show. Did you notice people singing along along in this video? Guess you were too much in a hurry to type all this down to notice.
fuck dir en grey. they fuckin blew so much ass at this show. the only people that were there for them were little fuckin white girls in hot topic clothing and anime/japanese wanna be bitches that only heard of them through shopping around hot topic and seeing there shirt. its a damn shame that they only got popularized by the fuckin japanese scene and no one really gives a fuck what theyre saying because, the fact of the matter is, theyre japanese and thats good enough for them.
Well, that's a shame, because they were awesome at the Worcester Palladium on Thursday. And so what if those people go to see them? That's more reason for them to keep playing shows, and for the real fans to see them.
wow... jsut wow that's really pathetic that you think you can speak for/about every single Dir en grey fan in the room and judge them soley on their image. I don't know where the fuck you were during this show, but it was amazing and I was in the very front. If you think that Dir en grey had no real fans at this concert you must've not noticed the people that waited for them over night, the people that waited 12 hours on line, or that at least the first 100 people online were for Dir en grey.
(contin)Or maybe you were deaf and couldn't hear the people screaming their lyrics. I, personally know the meaning of the lyrics and even though I'm not japanese it doesn't mean that I have no right to listen to them. I can feel the meaning of the words through his voice and I'd appreciate it if you didn't go around speaking for me and the other dedicated fans at that show.
#1-IIIII was one of the first "100 people" that were waiting in line at that show. there was only a good 40-50 people there, and not even people, little kids in shitty gothic clothing, eating pocky and reading manga. mind you, the majority of these bitches are white.
#2: the only people that were going crazy for them were those said kids that were waiting in line outside, they were all piled up in the front. i dont think you happened to notice all the other people there, bored off there asses, standing there watching in boredom. there wasnt even a mosh pit for them, even during the "heavy" parts of there song.
Are you kidding me? Didn't you see the hands fly up when their set was done? And the Mosh pit near the mid right? Sure, at first, hardly anyone was into it, but that's because it was a DEFTONES concert. Most of the people there were for DEFTONES. BEACUSE the DEFTONES were HEADLINING. AND on top of that, after their set was done, a ton of people threw their hands up. They got like 70% of that crowd impressed, IF NOT a new fan. Dumbass.
#3: people werent fighting other people to get up to the front for DEG like they were for the Deftones. reason? cause Deftones are better than Dir en Grey, they always have been and they always will be.
and people seriously only know about DEG because of hot topic, and anyone that admits otherwise is a fucking liar
Again DEFTONES were the HEADLINING band because it's THEIR tour. 90% of the people there were DEFTONE fans. Don't ask me why, they sucked HUGE cock. I hated them. And i listen to a ton of music. And sure, I'll agree there are a lot of "fans" that were spawned at hot topic, but not I. I found them through word of mouth from a friend i knew from JAPAN. And so on, I showed people so on and so forth.
I'm from Italy, I don't even know what this "hot topic" is... I listened the first Dir en grey song in 2000, the song was "Mask"... and it left me like this ---> O____O You are NOBODY to say that Deftones are better. Your personal (shitty) taste is not a law, so don't watch their videos if you're not interested :D
