I must agree totally with organisten. When adults wonder how boys can put up with learning "such boring music" you have to remember that you are listening with different ears than theirs. Here is the key: if the Director loves a piece of music, his love will definitely transfer to his choir, and that is true of ANY choir, more so for boys. As to whether the Windsbachers are the best choir in the world or not, for me it depends. For Bach, I cannot find a better choir than the Tölzer Knabenchor.
The two things you can't understand are the one and the same. We underestimate what children are capable of, and create banality for their culture. Look at the vulgarity of some "worship" songs for children.... Yet children are able to appreciate great works just as you or I. If so few realize that, little wonder either, that they should realize the importance of turning up to a concert where they can show their own appreciation.
Their sound is incredible. Completely fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable. What a beautiful, gentle, and sweet way to bring in the christmas season. THANK YOU!
I SHOULD HAVE TYPED,<I am thankful that the former does NOT completely obliterate the latter.
i do not think it will. There are some fabulous male voice church, cathedral or university chapel choirs in Germany, Austria, France and Britain. All have boy's sections. When they tour abroad they seem to garner fairly receptive audiences. The barbarians haven't won yet.
I was in one of those international boy choirs. Even at a young age I recognized incredible music. Yes, at times the rehearsals were tedious and I wanted to be somewhere else, but the pure joy of sharing that accomplishment in performance presentation more than compensated for the tediousness. I owe much of who I am today to that early classical training.
jeah its said its the best choir in the world i since sang there too i know those guys who sing there.the blond boy in the right lower corner was my buddy
@quniversalpicts The "best b o y s´ choir...... and do you know the channels Singeroftheyear2009 and Windsifan70 already ? Beringer will leave the choir in 2011...:(
I heard the Windsbacher Knabenchor in Stuttgart, Germany, recently. The boys' choir is the best I've ever heard! The concert was perfect...no pitch problems at all. Super diction. I hope so much they sing again next year at the Stiftskirche in Stuttgart!
Awesome!!!!Those boys are just awesome, spending all their free time to sing for the sake of music intrested people....by the way:I'm in this choir and it really makes fun ...if u have some time just visit us in windsbach or some of our great concerts^^ by Jookie
No unfortunately not,its "sponsored" by the lutheran curch, the being of this choir depends unfortunately on that church ... the money we get for travelling or meals for the choir on tour is less than 4 years ago .... oh i forgot its attached to an bording school( only a place to leave ...the school is not connected with the choir...but its just over the street)
The choir is an official church choir of the Lutheran church. However, since the area of Bavaria they're from -- Mittelfranken (Middle Franconia) -- is only predominantly protestant in the rural towns and villages, they move around the area from church to church singing on Sundays. Windsbach, located east of Nuremberg, only has 9,000 people. I got to see them 30 years ago in Nuremberg singing Bach's Christmas Oratorio.
Thanks. Glad you like it. There's lots more of it if there's an interest. There's some excellent official videos on their website too, giving a glimpse into their life on tour.
Yeah, I did notice that this looks like a "home chorus". The touring groups are usually a lot smaller - but not always. You say lots more if there's an interest: BRING IT ON!!. Thank you.

You can see they have a love for music, that is why they are putting their heart into their singing.

The other thing I can't understand is how such a blue chip choir can be singing to such a sparse crowd. What a waste of seats.
The reason is plain to me. A wrestling match draws a bigger audience than a chamber music concert. I am thankful that
the former does completley obliterate the latter.
ifuliki 2 years ago
No wrestling match ;-))). It is much simpler. There is only a disappearing demand of boys' choir. A sad fact.

Not yet, but soon. But then I'm a incurable optimist ;-)

I was in a boy choir. I listened to pop music at home, but that didn't mean I didn't enjoy singing Bach, Mozart, Gregorian plainchant etc

Nice, thanks for the video. The kids look incredibly bright.

Wow! This choir is really good. They are so good that it takes quite a while to realise that one is listening to unaccompanied singing.

Excellent Jookie. Thanks for dropping by and leaving your comment! Is the choir attached to a school or church, or totally independent?

Altavista's Babelfish translates that as "You are insanity". What do you mean by that?
notyobs 4 years ago
No, in this context it means: You (guys) are fantastic...
Jairdan 4 years ago
Oh. Good! A bit like the way kids nowadays say "wicked" to mean "excellent"?
notyobs 4 years ago
Yes, exactly like this...
Jairdan 4 years ago
I'm an American who has lived for decades in Germany. "Ihr seid wahnsinn" means "You guys are amazing." Certainly if you mean it in a positive sense.
