It was our 2nd string offense out there that year. I'm simply criticizing Bob Stoops' tenure as HC of the team, which has resulted in 10 bowl appearances and a BCS championship, but also 6 bowl losses (5 being BCS losses). college has numerous conferences and to many teams. 8 man team would be harsh for other recognizable teams. utah utes didnt get considered for the bcs bowl. which is a shame. fact that they were the only undefeated team but yeah a system similiar to yours or expanded should be good. so we dont hear any more angry longhorn fans.
Drew, college basketball isn't as physically demanding as football, so a basketball team could play 3 times in a week whereas a football can only play once a week. Also, there are only 119 teams in FBS D1, so over 50% of the field would be making it in with a NCAA tourney style plan. In college basketball, there are 347 teams and only 65 make it to the Big Dance, so less than 20% make it in. I think I'll stick with the bowl games and hope for some kind of playoff.
Once again, it would take over a month to get it all worked out. There's winter break for colleges, so unless you can get the college season to start prior to classes starting, it'll never happen.

OU, by contrast, lost to BYU, Miami, Texas, Nebraska and Texas Tech and finished the season unranked nationally and 5th in the Big XII.

Listen, OU had more than just one starter out that year. They also had the best tight end in the country All American Jermain Gresham, as well as several other starters on offense. It was our 2nd string offense out there that year. For the record, I don't think texas could have beaten bama even if cart mccry (colt mccoy) had played the whole game because bama and mark ingram was just too much for the overrated horns.

I'm not a Texas or OU fan but I do remember hearing in 2004 that Adrian Peterson, who's from Texas, chose the sooners over the longhorns because he said OU plays for national championships and Texas doesn't... It's just funny how his decorated career turned out. He got smashed against USC 55-19 in the National Title game, then Texas whoops up on him and beats USC in the next National Title game. Then he loses to Boise St in the fiesta bowl... such a sad college career for such a great player.

Not getting the point. I never claimed that Florida had a better football tradition than Oklahoma. I'm simply criticizing Bob Stoops' tenure as HC of the team, which has resulted in 10 bowl appearances and a BCS championship, but also 6 bowl losses (5 being BCS losses). Urban Meyer in just four years as Florida's HC has won 2 BCS championships and 3 bowl games. Florida and its head coach win the big games, Oklahoma and its coach doesn't. Go back to living in the past.

Drew, college basketball isn't as physically demanding as football, so a basketball team could play 3 times in a week whereas a football can only play once a week. Also, there are only 119 teams in FBS D1, so over 50% of the field would be making it in with a NCAA tourney style plan. In college basketball, there are 347 teams and only 65 make it to the Big Dance, so less than 20% make it in. I think I'll stick with the bowl games and hope for some kind of playoff.
