..thought this might have been the Venue or Lyceum, either way it was a long time ago now...gr8 gig , gr8 outfit!...cant get hold of the cd, this really should be rereleased again, there seems to be a great demand for it!
@prettygreen66 - they did the Boston Arms, Tufnell Park in 1984 (their only big London headliner as far as I know) and this looks like it could well be the Boston Arms.
You can't put a good poseur down ha ha. Still old floppy locks, Jobson's voice, though rarely in tune, was well suited to this epic rock style. And was'nt McGeogh a brilliant guitarist.
I saw them at the Crystal Palace Bowl at a one-day festival. Think Spear of Destiny played, too. Was that the one you were at? They were the best band there that day.
No, I saw them at the Town and Country Club. probably 1985. This looks like it *might* have been shot there, but it was a helluva long time ago. If there is a huge long bar to the left of the stage (as Jobson's looking out) , then it's probably the Town & Country Club....
Waiting For The Floods ... one of the best LPs i´ve ever heard in the 80s. I liked the sound, the vocals ... very sad that they didn´t make it - but ... memories.. :))
Forgot how good they were! Big Jobbie at his melodramatic best, Hooky bass, a sharper than the Edge guitar sound - if it wasn't for Big Jobbie's mad hairstyle they would have been huge.(but then a mad hairstyle never did the long-mulleted Bono any harm)
I keep coming back to this video. I remember seeing them doing this live at a festival in '84 and expected them to be huge. Still don't know why that never happened.
...i'm sure i was at this gig too, think it was either The Venue or The Lyceum in London....they were a great band!....'Waiting for the Floods' was a cracking album!
For as much an arrogant git Jobson is, it frightens me how talented he and Stu were at 18-19 yrs old when you look at the stuff they wrote for the Skids. I think I'd just about mastered tying my shoelaces at 18.
This is from Studio one at Border Tv in 1985. Great gig

Their album is one of the lost classics of the 80s - this is footage I hadn't seen before, it's brilliant.

Completely agree. Stuart Adamson's death was such a tragedy, a waste of a good man and a real talent.

Just posted The Skids "Iona" up. I see U2 have just covered a Skids song. Kaiserwull was right.

Fantastic! Doesn't make U2 look like a pub band, though, come on!

Makes U2 look like a pub band? Yeah, that's a bit cruel. Does make U2 look like The Alarm, though.

TAS should've been massive. What a performance - tight as a duck's arse. Makes U2 look like a pub band.

Kaiserwull, I feel the same.
