  • @TatiB3hbz First one is "Ohorere e" "He mihi aroha" not sure of the third one, the one with the rakau (sticks) is "Whiti te marama i te po", not sure of girls haka, boys haka is 'tika tonu'. Old canoe show waiata, would love to go back and visit. I worked @ the Maori village in 1992, then went on a mission, when I returned I became a tour guide but my ngakau was always in the village.

  • Man this video brings back memories of when I used to dance in the village. Unfortunately, I was off on the this video was filmed, or maybe I was watching the gate during this show. If anyone has any videos of these performances please post them up! Thanks!

  • nobody sings better than the maori =)

  • OMG this is so so so MAORI... not Fijian or Hawaiian, they are proberbly perorming at a polynesian centre in Hawaii. I am 100 percent sure that these are MAORIS performing and they are all the way from (AOTEAROA) New Zealand.

  • BOOK EM Macgarret

  • are hawaiins maori aswell, i thought maoris where new zealand natives

  • They are but Hawaiians dance it the Polynesian Cultural center tells and shows all the islands that make up Polynesia.

  • Maori is a term for a group of the polynesian islands. Whether it Maoli, Maohi or Maori- Cook Island/Rarotonga/New Zealand/Hawaii/Tahiti. We are practically the same- we all migrated from the same area and spread across the south pacific.

  • @dakin8888 Yes maoris are NZ natives, sub grouped with the Polynesian just like Hawaii.

  • It's really cool of you to put this here. I think I might know how this marae came about but will share it once I've made sure. Kia ora, bro.

  • nice marae they got in this clip. the poi dance is alrite altho i've seen some mean ones at the kapa haka shows on maori tv here in nz. if u want to see a proper maori performance its best to visit nz spesh the secondary schools competition they are MEAN MAORI MEAN!

  • yep. :D. its Maori. :D. not Fiji,. I'm Fijian, and i dont understand a thing they say but from the dress, dance and language its deff maori. :D. love it. you can always tell its Maori if they do a 'haka' like in the end and stick out their tongue. :D. search for 'haka rugby' and thats some good haka for yall :D

  • all the dumb asses saying its fiji are wrong. its new zealand. fiji is i think red. anyway i remember when i was there they did the stick thing they started going faster and faster. the chief said if they drop a stick they would buy us ice cream. and when they messed up her said "just kidding". it was funny

  • I was a Japanese tour guide for years there at PCC...the Maori village was my favorite. Besides the fantastic music, I had the biggest crush on Fiona (1993-94) at the time. Moana was so nice too. I miss everyone.

  • Thanks for posting, I really enjoyed this I aint played that stick game in ages lol.

  • i was there few weeks ago with my family and visited the villages. every village/island has something special to offer to the world; aotearoa is one of my favorites. i love the haka, war chant performance, and took some pictures. i also admired how the maori people accepted their visitors by welcoming them through the powhiri ceremony. your songs and dances are inspiring. thanks for sharing your culture.

  • cool video bro. that girl on screen on the left is my wife now. her name is nicola laulu. that guy you took the pic with at the end is mana. thats cool i was just browsing this thing and found a old clip of my wife dancing. man she saw this and started smiling. she don't dance anymore cuz she got pregnant. thnks for posting this clip bro.
