  • Hey gimme back my crutch I can't move either (without the crutch)

  • can i ask what is the porpose of this someone answer me plz

  • There is no real purpose. It's just a bunch of ordinary people doing something different for a change.

  • oh ok thx

  • How much saliva was on those sandwiches after five minutes?

  • Bad narration, bad execution of filming (blinking girl, moving cars) and the concept is very simple, maybe too simple to be considered artistic- furthermore it's been done several times- Vancouver is a city that should be spawning more original concepts and artistic ideas, not re-doing old ones- so I give it zero points for its conceptualization and 1 point for its execution/performance.

  • This wasn't supposed to be original...they were taking part in a world wide freeze event started by Improv Everywhere when they did the same thing in Grand Central station. I live in vancouver and wish I could have been there to participate as well...

  • Those vancouver people, so creative, so liberal.

  • Lots of folks smoke the green on those steps.

  • 3 words read a book

  • Wow you're so stupid

  • yes i am very stupid to know vancouver in canada.i am very stupid to know ,vancouver is 5 hours by plane from pei.i think, some are more stupid than me about understanding a joke.

  • in canada... british columia.. LOL

  • in canada u dork

  • i thought it was in china, thx for teaching.i was in vancouver 2 months ago.how is that?

  • wow that is terribly sad and a joke that people call that art.

  • Tell us what you think 'art' is or should be.

  • WOW thats nuts,i was stuck at work like 40 feet away on hornby st,that looks crazy!

  • Very interesting to look at the demographic of the participants. A bunch of people with a lot of time on their hands trying to lend themselves artistic cred by imitating a stale idea. What a great artistic achievement.

  • Likewise, your pointless jab at these people achieves nothing. It was meant to be essentially fun and is noteworthy at that level. Unlike your comment.

  • I'm sorry SatNamTree. I forgot to mention that their act was also hilarious. And meaningful. And original. And totally pointless.

  • Joel Parkes of Canada, with this follow-up response your legacy as a moderate wit is certain to remain firmly intact.

  • lol

  • Of course its in front of the art gallery! This is 8 BLOCKS from where I live, and I had no idea either.

  • it's getting old..not artistic anymore. Grand Central was awesome, then Toronto Eaton center..which was 'ok'. Now this. Kinda getting lame.

  • Very cool indeed.

Check out the over 200 people freeze -in place on cue- in Grand Central Station in New York.

  • This is awesome! I live in Vancouver and I didnt know this was going on...otherwise I would have done it too!

  • People in public palces are arranged to stop moving for 5min, and after they just become normal again

  • How does it happends? this is the first time I have seen something like that! what is it?

  • LOL @ nerds

  • I think this is the best video on the Vancouver freeze. Nice commentary too.

I was there!! I wore my sunglasses so I dont seem like I'm blinking. I was kind of sore after though. And it wasn't the warmest day either.

  • Damn, i missed it, oh well at least i saw the video. Still would have wanted to catch it live.

  • lol, i so drove past that.

  • Yeah i realise i made a lot of tyming errors!! glad someone undrstoof what was meant!

  • Wtf O.o i live in vancouver ? feb.23 O.o

  • I just want to add, thy did that in Montrea too.

The goalos this 'freez movement' is not to waste 5min, or to make people freekout.

Their goal in the firs place was to make people realse that we always go to fast, that we don't take the time to take our time, we're always running everywhere, instead of slowing down and trying not past beside the great things of life.

  • That makes sense. Thank you. I did wonder what the intitial idea for this when meant for. Well said. :)

  • but this is also just to make a trip, and this is funny! :p

  • the initial idea was in New York wasn't it?

they even put it on the news

  • Nice to see it's been done now right over in Vancouver...

Although I must admit... these freeze things are getting a little old now.

  • These freeze things are lame they got old after the first time

  • shame you got the date wrong at the beginning of the video

  • That's what I was going to comment on, haha.

  • some see this as a kind of art piece or statement or whatever. i see it as a golden opportunity to push people over, steal wallets, and to smear hot dogs in the face of someone mid-bite.

i'm joking.. although i do think it's a terrible waste of 5 minutes. i would rather be waiting at a bus stop or in line at some bank or something.

and i think it's kind of funny that there are guys taking pics of this event, like you'd be able to tell a crowd was frozen from a photograph?

    i'm just saying.

  • Hi did you notice that, as opposed to the new york freeze, there were no obese people in the canadian freeze. Pretty sad if you have to take a bus, most people here walk if they don't have cars. And haven't you americans heard of bank cards yet? You still have to stand in line to get money? And people think the US is a modern place. They probably keep their money under their matresses still

  • Hahahah.. thats soooo true about the pictures..

ur still an idiot though. haha

  • fucking awesome. I don't care if it's been done before, because this was great. The downtown core is so fucked, so its great to see something like this. Good on all you guys, wish I was a part of it. I totally would have been

  • I find it funny how so many people are dissing Vancouver, and Canada. Well actually, it's not funny at all. Why don't you nay-sayers stop and think about what you're saying? Take for example: "Canadas cold xD"? How is that funny? That's not even remotely true, and if it were, how is it humorous? If anything, if that statement were true, Canada's citizens would be tougher than the person critisizing, because they can withstand the cold.

Anyways, I'm just saying, stop ridiculing for no reason.

  • lol wish they did that in metrotown :(

  • Excellent!!!!!!!

  • sorry if vancouver is not very exciting

but hey, at least it's acknowledged to be one of the best place to live

but honestly, i find a place that lets you ski in the morning and enjoy the beach at night quite exciting. if you find it boring, maybe it's cuzz we hate you and don't want you to spoil our fun spots. there are "tourists attractions", and then there are "gathering places"

  • canadas cold xD

  • yes, in the winter.

  • Welcome to Vancouver,super!

  • Hmmm... good effort but not original =o

  • It's only as fun a place as you make it. Simple as that.

  • lanaya01 has no imagination. Canucks don't stink, it's blowing up from America.

  • where are you hanging out if granville is the coolest place? if that's your highlight i think you missed the point completely

  • it's art! awesome concept

  • I don't know, what's art? You tell me.

  • is that somewhere near robson street? And by the way, good answer to lanaya01's dumb comment.

  • I saw a Girl blink @ 0:22

  • Kinda weird. How did you get all those people to freeze?Thats pretty neat. (YAY for Mac on the corner lol)

  • Were an organized an well mannered city. we know what were doing.

  • I know the girl with the red hair! the photographer!

  • Twilight Zone for the New Generation of Phuck-ups. Skateboards and skullcaps. Real intelligent Humans...lol

  • Are you boared... Indeed very Phucked up. Go and film the Queen, she may have more action than these subjects. WTF...Dumb!

  • This video is gay. Especially the moon units with the skull caps. there not even climbing the Mountains. They all suck ROOSTER!

    DUMB....

  • 2009?

  • Love the freeze. Narration needs work though

  • What a nice thing to do!

great job guys!!...A freeze in Montreal was on the news last week, it was staged in one of Montreal 's metro stations..I guess with the weather we are having it is better to 'freeze' indoors..

  • yep thats wat happens in winter in canada...

  • i love vancouver! nice job guys. but the cars were moving! i guess only a section of the town stopped

  • whoa, i thought i saw one of them blink

  • fags i slap some one

  • Wow, yet another less than intelligent comment from an idiot.

  • nice fellow vancouverite

  • That's so cool haha.

    They're cool =P

  • petergriffin234 you're that lazy to go downtown I live in North Vancouver and still go downtown.

  • Who says I don't go downtown vancouver

  • It's as a result of a terrorist drug , safe of course.

  • Too bad I live in West Vancouver

  • Too dumb

  • I love it , That right near the Art Gallery aint it ? On Robson Street , I live in Vancouver .. So I know .. I used to rollerblade all over Vancouver , In Van my nickname was and will remain " Skate "

    orphan gordie

  • Yup, right in front on Robson St.

  • oh geez...and here i was thinking the title 'vancouver freeze' referred to the canuck's stanley cup drought.....

  • Can't really call it a drought.

  • lol at the chick with the hotdog. good position 2 freeze:)

  • Umm did it just say Saturday Februay 23rd 2009?

UHHH its 2008 and also Febuary is spelled wrong.

  • Oops its not Feb is right but still it is 2008

  • that was neat-o

  • Har. Even the photographers..

  • pick pocket time

  • Resulting in broken fingers

  • IKR? lol

  • lol D

  • Thats really cool, why and how was that organized?

  • Imagine the saliva build up on that blonde's sandwich!

  • I know, I thought about that too. I imagined how hard that would be not to take another bite. I guess it'd be even harder if it was a donut.

  • cool?

  • cool.

  • better than toronto lol

  • february 23rd 2009?????

  • Yes its Vancouver British Columbia

  • is this vancouver british columbia in canada?

  • is this vancouver british columbia in canada?

  • Yes it is

  • i dont get this

some ppl r frozen but othr ppl are just going through and cars are moving

  • oh yeah. i'm agree with ur idea boy

  • Umm... this is just a big rip-off of Improv Everywhere... and not even as epic.

  • Indeed, it's already been done. But it was fun anyways.

  • IgnitedSoul13 - "Umm... this is just a big rip-off of Improv Everywhere... and not even as epic."

Ummmm yeah, like, ummmm total ripoff ummm like...fail.

In all seriousness though I think allowing too many people to meander and walk around right in the middle of the frozen crowd kind of ruins the effect.

  • i can't beliave if it's tru

  • dafdsf

  • What's the reason for the freeze? Is it a silent protest for something?

  • I'm not sure of the reason behind it. I think it was just so people could have some fun and fool some people.

  • oh yeah. i'm agree with ur idea boy

  • i can beleave this thing man

  • someone should have thrown a molotov cocktail to get everyone moving again

  • Truly awesome!!!!

  • lol. i froze. You passed me. 00:44 WAS ME TAKING A PIC OF MY FRIENDS!!

  • How hard was it to keep your hands up like that for so long?

  • this at the back of the art gallery on robinson????

  • yes

  • great stuff. I live in north van.

    go canucks.

  • Yes, it really does get this cold in Canada. :)

  • A group called "Improv Everywhere" Did the same thing at Grand Central Station in New York City!

  • February 23rd 2009? Does that mean this is a video of the future?

  • it says 2008 you moron

  • no u moron at the beginning it says 2009

  • If you look at 00:03 you will see 2009. I guess that makes me a very observant moron?

  • HAHA omg you're for real? OMG you're hilarious!!

  • Random...

  • why'd they freeze?

some of them looked like they could have been manicans

  • Even the guy in the back stealing copper wire froze. ;)

  • 00:03, WTf...why does it says 2009???

    (we're still in 2008..Son)

  • Maybe this is what people of the 'future' do. :P

  • Go back and read some of the comments, I've explained that several times.

  • if i were there, and all of them are froze

i would steal some money from other people

    LoL!!!!!

  • No one gave a shit

    unoriginal and poorly done

    fucking weak bro

  • Thanks for the positive feedback, 'bro'. It's amazing how you could see by watching the video that no one 'gave a shit'. You must be psychic or something.

  • it was on the front page.

I mean no one in the video "gave a shit", obviously. The narrator is in on it and feigning and they're out of the way. They totally missed the point. It's embarrassing to Vancouverites.

  • If i had known about this i would have participated!

  • This would be pretty weird for tourists or newcomers to see

  • WOW never seen that done before....

  • I would sooo nutpunch one of them.

  • LOL HA

  • AHAHAHA THT WOULD BE SO AUSOME!

  • This is so overdone now. Improv Everywhere did it in New York's Union Station. They were the original. Since that, these people have copied it, and a group from Toronto did it at the Eaton Center. If im not mistaken, a second group had also planned to do the Eaton centre but had to switch. I think theres went down today, i just dont know where.

  • what was the point of this? Please tell me there was so kind of social commentary involved? A message of sorts...

  • I think the point of it was to freak people out.

  • If I heard about this, and I would've joined.

  • I was in downtown Vancouver and I didn't froze

  • Yeah, you did. You just weren't aware of it, because you were frozen.

  • People in Vancouver freeze like this all the time. ;)

  • lol i wish i knew about this i would have joined in.

  • lol i wish i knew about this i would have joined in.

  • Sure they do.

  • Are you sure they were frozen you could of done something with your camera or they could of been doing something of there own .

  • i would of steal people's junk and stuff and maybe poke a few boobs on the way lol
