Colin, could play fine rock/blues with the best of them....even when he was a teen. Stuff like this I grew up on....unbelievable to dance to. It is more than a meditation....when one lets go in the dancing and the kundalini moves through the whole body like an unending flow of rushing warm water.
This is killer! I feel Colin James and Big Sugar (a group of more great Canadian musicians!) should be international superstars! Unfortunately, their type of music was not the preferred style when they hit the scene. Timing is everything. But they have more talent in their little fingers than many current successful pop stars will have in their whole (short?) careers. I'm not mentioning any names but you know who I mean!
the reason he never made it big in the states is hes really good, but not a greatr, i saw him open for bryan adams and i was imprressed but after adams got on he really showed the difference between good and great. but then thats just my opinion!!
Found out about Colin on a trip to Vancouver in 1990. Bought the first album with this, 5 long years, Chicks' N cars. All I could think was why isn't this guy on the radio all the time in the US? Caught a tune in a movie soundtrack every now and then. Hope to see him live someday. Until then thanks for sharing some of these vids we never saw on MTV. Hope more show up.
Been a fan of Colin for many years I was in Vancouver, Saw him at Center in the Square, Kitchener, Very much the style of the Orpheum in Vancouver. Always a treat to see him and the Little Big Band
Holy shit you are in for a fantastic show!! I saw him last night in Calgary and him and his band blew my freakin mind!! Talk about true Canadian talent!
1988...Vancouver BC. Busy living my life (*)(*) Having quite the Experience.
One day I was walking to the BC Place
to do a job at the Home Show :) Listening to my walk-man & this song came on. *&^%$ I was never the same. Before
I knew what this person looked like I said, 'This is My Song' & I LOVE this person already (x)(-) What a surprise to See Him o;-} (-)(x) Need I say MORE...lol...Except this about the last words of the Song :)
I saw Colin in concert near Toronto Canada in May '09 and he was AMAZING! He played some of his latest material, and all his hits from the past including Voodoo Thing. His band was tight, the sound was clean, and his voice was dead on. He hit every note. I agree that he should have been bigger in the States, and I believe he didn't get near the recognition that he should have gotten even in Canada. I've never understood why he didn't.
Unfortunately, he came out at a time in the States when it was all about MTV, and not the music. He's still one of my favorite guitarists/musicians/songwriters.
I never understood why James wasn't bigger here in the States. I remember hearing Voodoo Thing with my friends when it first came out and we were all blown away. And then...he just sort of disappeared from the local radio station playlists to make room for crap like White Lion and Poison.
didn't teach him how to play, just took him on tour when colin was young, actually gave colin his name. Colin James is really Colin James Munn, but stevie introduced him as Colin James, cuz it sounded better
man, this was the first music i ever listened to that was "rea" music. My music has changed alot...but man this music is STILL amazing, always will be. Colin james is amazing
I actually met collin a couple of weeks ago but being from england Id never heard of him, I wish Id known he could rock out 80s style like that, Im well impressed
This man is SPECTACULAR! I met him once in Otawa (my hometown) and he is a total gentleman. Class all the way! My fav. artist since I heard him years ago. AWESOME CANADIAN TALENT!!!! He totally rocks!!! If he wasn't already married I would totally stalk his sexy ass!!! GO COLIN GO!!!!!! Can't wait to see you Dec 15 right here!!!!
one of the best guitar players ever/one of the best showmen ever/one of the best live performers ever/one of the most flawless performers ever/one of the most under rated musicians ever !
I wonder if he bought the clothes he's wearing at 'Randy River'... :-)

one of the most under appreciated singers and guitar players in Canadian history.
I am ashamed when I see people giving crappy artists kudos when one of the true Canadian kick ass artists goes unappreciated.
Colin belongs in the same class as BTO, Brian Adams, Shania, Gordon lightfoot, Burton Cummings etc...
