@latinasdoitbetter1 Overall, there are more white people that serve in the military. That's a given. Anybody who has served in the military can tell you that. However, the majority of Latinos are not found in as cooks or janitors, they are found in ground combat units. If you don't believe me, look it up. Here are some references: "What Every Person should Know about War" (2003) by Chris Hedges and two studies that were conducted by the Pew Hispanic Center, titled "Hispanics in the military."

Apparently, this is something that you are not familiar with. Just to let you know, they acquired their statistical information from the DOD's website. I guess the DOD is providing biased info. @latinasdoitbetter1 I don't know what u do for a living, but it's obvious that you have never served in an infantry unit. I served five years in a USMC infantry unit and I can tell you that there were plenty of people of color in my unit--about 40 to 50 pct. Also, the film isn't arguing that "minorities" constitue the bulk of the military, it is simply stating that the militarization of poor urban schools of color is unjust. And I agree. Whether there poor white or purple schools, its wrong!

hmmm. I believe Chicago is also a big market. Many people I know will join the military. The majority are Latino. But then again, most of the people i know are latino.

Supporting Evidence for this argument: Go to a memorial day parade, look at the students participating with their ROTC classes. It is undeniable that the majority of them are of latino background.
