i must say you have a true martial arts approach to speaking an i respect you more for howw you have answered these comments then the act of the form itself very well done on both
Hey. whats your name man?? amazing. watched your other videos of training...u a martial art god or something?? please tel me your name if u dun have a prob....please
Wonderful skills sir. Much respect. You obviously devote much time to the arts. A word of advice though: dont invest so much into the western perception of martial arts. Its quite empty. (the percieved ideology, not your mad skills)
this is fun stuff and I like it, but the first sword can cut (the apple scene at the beginning), the second 'sword' is more like an aluminum tube (the one he twirls around)
It would be nice to see it done with an Iaito. I am going to try with an Iaito I think.
I'm curious, guy in the DVD is clearly skilled in traditional sword use - why go on to the spinny flash stuff? Nothing wrong with that of course, it looks good, but seems to me someone who spends time learning the simple stuff would want to keep it simple. Ah well either way, good skills, well done
does the dvd includes "slowly movement" to understand all the form ?
I'm a Kenjutsu practicer and I have never see some of this movement (looks like Kungfu). I would be interresseted, but its to fast to see all the details .
I've noticed your weapon forms have some common moves to shaolin and sport wushu. Anyway, good stuff. Too much spinning behind the back though. You looked like a power ranger for sec.
althoguh im only an expert in GoJu karate, id still like to say excellent katana form! your demos here show alot of skill and control, im not game enough to place a katana on the back of my neck. id like to say i admire your art and (from what i've seen) your students, keep up the training!
I have studied Iaido and kendo. However, this is neither. This is a freestyle kata demonstrated with an aluminum training sword. I'm not trying to be something I'm not (a sword master, for example) - I'm just demonstrating something flashy and fun that some people get a kick out of :)
As a demonstration, good. I doubt an opponent would idly stand by and let you perform all this without disturbing you, however. With your sword behind you and spinning in your hand, I doubt you could react very quickly to an attack from front. Well... I'd get smoked, sword or no sword, but it's just something I noticed.
I agree with you regarding the lack of practicality regarding this demonstration. However, it is simply intended to be a dynamic demonstration and not a drill fro practical application. Thank-you for your comment.
Seems very good to me, good balance, he is standing stabile while whirling around that katana, and good control.
A question to the Kenshi... a western swordfighter will step forward with the leg on the attacking side - however I noticed the guy in the video doing it the opposite way... is he just fighting nontraditional style, or is there a katana style that steps with the leg opposing the attack?
Thank you for your comment. This is in fact a non-traditional form. It's meant to be more of a dynamic demonstartion form. Therefor, we've removed many of the traditional elements so purists don't become offended. However....most do anyway. It's just the nature of the martial arts.
Hey, I noticed that you were using some sort of solid, hollow aluminum katana. I've been looking for one of them for awhile but haven't found one. Could you tell me where you got yours? I think it would go great with the dvd

My nephew almost got his little fingers cut off when my brother-in-law was showing his saber sword to us.
Good thing Larry was fast enough to raise it out of Gabriel's reach before the mishap could occur.

Wow, that was fantastic. You're very brave using a full-on katana like that. You're very graceful with your movement and that katana is beautiful.
Thankyou!

I wish I would have had you with me when I got jumped. Maybe I could have avoided getting stabbed in 3 places.

Wow, I'm really impressed, you have good control lol. I just realized that If a katana simply touched you you could easely cut yourself xD

Funny I just used an apple for one of my cuts, the vids a little grainy but still worth checking out. Keep up the sword work..
