while this may be going on in some mining sites, dont think they are all doing it. where i work, mountains are moved, and properly stored for reclamation. no rivers, streams, or any water is involved or disrupted with the exception of snow melt and runoff, which is also controlled and tested for contaminants before being re-introduced to rivers, streams etc.. but if you have real evidence of this going on around you community, by all means, get ahold of the epa.

In answer to your question... Land rights do not allow a land owner to break the Clean Water Act. If the Clean Water Act were fully enforced, Mountain Top Removal would cease to exist. A change in their application is coming. Forget about the "industry" and go back to playing in a cheesy cover band at the dive bar next to the Nickle Plant and have a big mug of heavy metal sludge out of the Guyandotte on me.

Mountain Top Removal violate the very spirit of the Clean Waters Act. Anyone can go to Google Maps, satellite view and zoom in on southern WV. All those scattered pocked marked wastelands are you're so called "reclaimed" sites.

Air and water have we all share and are not owned. No one has the right to indiscriminately pollute them. Land ownership doesn't convey the right to permanently degrade them and all surrounding property. You're a scoundrel to suggest there is anything approaching real reclamation.

You have been shut down! The EPA announced on Sept 11 that 79 permits to mine coal by removing mountain tops and discarding the debris in neighboring streams must be withheld for further study because of flagrant violations.

Not shutdown just stalled. I don't know where you get you information but you need to check your sources. 79 permits have been held for further review for 75 days. There have been no violations. It takes the government forever to decide anything. At the same time they also approved 100+ permits. I'd ask you to prove your claims of violations but since you still haven't answered a question I asked 3 days ago, I dont think it's very likely you'd answer. Youre just spewing crap
