If you want to help this cause more you cant just preach to the choir. Go to all the youtube sights and tell viewers to go to i love mountains. That way you reach a broader amount of people.
while this may be going on in some mining sites, dont think they are all doing it. where i work, mountains are moved, and properly stored for reclamation. no rivers, streams, or any water is involved or disrupted with the exception of snow melt and runoff, which is also controlled and tested for contaminants before being re-introduced to rivers, streams etc.. but if you have real evidence of this going on around you community, by all means, get ahold of the epa.
@SprinterD I'm naturally skeptical so don't mind this too much... kudos to your company for not being quite so bad, but what I'm wondering here is, what exactly is meant by "mountains are moved, and properly stored for reclamation."?
lol It makes me wanna imagine the worlds biggest warehouse holding the mountain top inside :P
I just seen this on Goggle earth today feb 17 am shocked that we are doing this shit. Coal mining is a serious tuff job but why destory hundreds of thousand of acres for.
In answer to your question... Land rights do not allow a land owner to break the Clean Water Act. If the Clean Water Act were fully enforced, Mountain Top Removal would cease to exist. A change in their application is coming. Forget about the "industry" and go back to playing in a cheesy cover band at the dive bar next to the Nickle Plant and have a big mug of heavy metal sludge out of the Guyandotte on me.
When Mother Earth owns the property and pays the taxes on it, then and only then will Mother Earth have the right to say what is done on that property.
Jeez! I think you tree huggers don't use your land in a way I find acceptable. Do I have the right to tell you what to do on your land?
Big Coal doesn't own it either. It only leases it long enough to steal all the coal, rape, pillage and destroy our mountains and then run away with all the profits. If you participate in Mountain Top Removal, you're destroying our GOD-given mountains.
Land Companies own it for the purpose of having the mineral extracted. It's not raping and pillaging if both parties consent. It's not your or our God given mountains. What is you claim to ownership? And what is it with you people and profit (capitalism)? I not only participate, I design, permit and make sure all the Criterion are met to make it happen. I follow the rules. If you don't like it, tough poop. How is it that your side never shows real reclaimed sites?
Mountain Top Removal violate the very spirit of the Clean Waters Act. Anyone can go to Google Maps, satellite view and zoom in on southern WV. All those scattered pocked marked wastelands are you're so called "reclaimed" sites.
Since youre trying to steal, pillage and rape the land owners rights would you like to answer my previous question before typing out a bunch of flamboyant, divertive rhetoric. And that was... I think you tree huggers don't use your land in a way I find acceptable. Do I have the right to tell you what to do on your land?
Air and water have we all share and are not owned. No one has the right to indiscriminately pollute them. Land ownership doesn't convey the right to permanently degrade them and all surrounding property. You're a scoundrel to suggest there is anything approaching real reclamation.
Prove it genius. Everything is controlled to with the utmost care to comply with 110 gvmnt. agencies. If your claims were true we'd be shut down. Your people would swarm like flies on poop.
While you may deny reclamation, anyone can go see it. You know where to find it. Get off of Google earth and youtube and go see for yourself. When was the last time you were outside? Now please, answer my original question.
You have been shut down! The EPA announced on Sept 11 that 79 permits to mine coal by removing mountain tops and discarding the debris in neighboring streams must be withheld for further study because of flagrant violations.
Not shutdown just stalled. I don't know where you get you information but you need to check your sources. 79 permits have been held for further review for 75 days. There have been no violations. It takes the government forever to decide anything. At the same time they also approved 100+ permits. I'd ask you to prove your claims of violations but since you still haven't answered a question I asked 3 days ago, I dont think it's very likely you'd answer. Youre just spewing crap
Judging from your lies, half truths, diversions, and cover-ups you sound like you are associated with Massey Coal/Don Blankenship. That would explain a lot.
Nope. Once again your wrong. I work in the indusrty but have no ties to Massey or Mr. Blankenship. So what "lies, half truths, diversions, and cover-ups" are you talking about? I haven't lied like your recent post about "flagrant violations" that you care not to address. I haven't diverted anything like you diverted from my 2 questions. Look in the mirror buddy. you blame me for things you are guilty of yourself. Your brainwashed and... "That would explain a lot."
ah appalachia, my home sweet home. sad what they're doin to the mountains, but if it weren't for it, the whole county would go under with joblessness, myself included
no place to hide when the foreign troops get the orders to come out from hiding. they are here we pay to feed them till then. think then stand before it is too late my fellow fodder.

The rules are not adequate. The rules are made by the people who make the money. Reclamation is a farce.
