Its easier to understand when you know it wasn't just him, all the Tudors went mad as they go older Henry 7 became so paranoid he wouldn't go outside Henry 8 became a raving tirent Mary and Liz took to sleeping in full armor with sword at there side and would attack people who weren't there the only reason Edward didn't go the same way is he died young.
@Cissy2cute Excellent!!!!! :) The memory of HRH Henry VIII deserves a great light. Is the Father of separation of state and Vatican, the father of the nationalization of the church possessions and of the rising excepticism in the form of the enmity toward the relics as a way of religious profit for the Vatican. And too, he is the father of the nationalism and British pride so respected in the world, the royal navy, the arts, medicine, and more.
i think that his fears for loosing the kingdom and the lack of sons made him like this.people where so stupid and idiotic tours women, women ruled just fine too bad all the male heir didnt survived .If he had the boys he wanted and opened his eyes tours who sat at his table times would have been different.also the lack of love.he married for the sake of the country not him self. that was 1st mistake.
One day, someone will produce a show on Henry VIII that shows the marvelous Renaissance king that he was. He is NOT about his wives; except for Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn they are really just footnotes of his reign.
Before devastating injuries/illnesses , he helped to found the Royal Navy, brought scholars & artists into England, and was a very well educated theologian and musician. Compared to others (i.e., Francis I) his womanizing was mild. Have a positive show, for a change.

he wasnt mad, he needed a male heir. As divorces werent allowed at the time, he executed one or two wives. In the end,he split from the catholic church.
that may be so but killing them for no reason IS madness. just because he didnt get a son on the FIRST FEW TRIES. he coul've just tried again and again. and marrying just so you can have a kid isnt marriage. that's.... well i dont know what to call it. however to be fair i can see why he would really want a male heir what with being in the mid-evil ages and needing an heir to the throne but he should've just kept on having sex WITH ONE WIFE until an boy popped out.
did you seriously just try to take the side of that pityful excuse for a man? Last time I checked killing was always a crime, it was always considered "wrong" to say the least. I don't care how much he needed an heir, he should've just sucked it up taken on a few mistresses at the very least, but granted then Elizabeth would have never have been queen. Still, murder, adulterer, the man wasn't mad in that you are correct, he simply couldn't control his own lustful thoughts.
@medcsu lolz I figured. xD haha But yeah he was like way messed up. Messed up people hold a certain fascination w/ me. No clue why. lolz They are just interesting. Especially how they somehow manage to convince themselves that they are always right. It's odd don't yah think?
Well, technically I can understand, but just think about it, Catherine of Aragon no longer had her menstration closer to the end of their marriage, and he had Siffilus(sp?) so when he had flare ups, his wife concieved, but she ended up getting it too. Do a little research and you might find some interesting things :)
i think he did try that with his first wife, keep on trying "until an boy popped out" but nothing seemed to work. with him aging and becoming a fat ugly king i think he was simply running out of time
@athenascurse amen to that sister, i couldn't have said it better myself! I just hope he suffered great physical pain and if i run into him in hell, I'll make his eternity completely miserable.
