  • RIP SRV ,when he is playing his soul is faaaaar awaaaay from everything around him , the soul who is playing .opposite of jeff the way he was plying with, kind of ''DEAL'' he was feeling it like that . ''SRV IS A PUUUURE TRUE F"""" TALNT OF GOD'' RIP

  • Beck is a god, yes, but he is sure not feeling this tune, for some reason.

  • i like srv's tone more

  • Neither one is BETTER than the other. SRV has perfect tone and rhythm and can make his guitar cry and melt your face off at the same time. He tends to repeat a lot the same licks but those are his signature licks. Becks the master at phrasing and creating new sounds & approaches to the guitar. Blow by Blow is easily one of the best instrumental guitar recordings.

  • @skitzofingers Stevie was playing the same solos he always plays too. Some solos are more specific, but his main style is Albert King. Jeff does use many of the same solos as does every other musician on the face of the earth.

  • one and only time beck played a jackson?

  • Wow! Nice to see SRV playing with force in Hawaii.

  • I like Jeff waaaay more than Stevie. Each to his own.

  • I like Jeff waaaay more than Stevie. Each to his own.

  • you bet your bottom dollar stevie would be the first to say Jeff is one of the greatest six stringers around!

  • Quit criticizing Jeff Beck. He has an open mind to music, and plays many different genres, and he sounds original even when he covers others' songs. Can SRV do that? How could Jeff Beck be an amateur when he was in the Yardbirds even before SRV became famous? Give the British some credit.

  • @MrStreetofdreams

Actually SRV can cover songs and make it look original... Look at about half of the songs he plays...

  • I saw the fire and fury show at the Centrum both were amazing they are two different styles you cant compare them and both it was an awsome show.

  • Angela W/ Stevie Ray AND Jeff Beck is Ultimate. Miss Strehli and Mr. Vaughan are the best thing to ever come outta Texas. Ever!

  • SRV makes Jeff Beck look like a total beginner! He totally ripped Beck's face off so bad its not funny. Beck looks like a complete idoit up there with SRV !

  • I wonder if they covered "'Cause We've Ended As Lovers" that night? Oh, how cool that'd have been...

  • this tune is "Lost Cause"

  • Beck is great but whenever SRV played along side any other guitarist, he makes them look like amateurs compared to him especially when they are playing the blues! SRV.. IMHO<---(get that Jimi fans?) is the greatest guitarist that ever lived.

  • @bhobo09

I cried when he died..............The house of blues...thats the residence of the great SRV!!!

  • amazing!Blues always.

  • COULD THIS VIDEO HAVE BEEN CHOPPED UP ANY DAMNED WORSE ?? SHIT !!!

  • The singer is the one and only great world class Angela Strehli

  • brilliant players and all, but i felt they were tryin to play over each other like a competition.

beck has mastered his tremolo bar technique since this video and as for stevie, he was just at the top of his game at the time. wonderful performance from both, pitty becks guitar was too loud in the mix

  • Its so weird to see Jeff Back with a shred guitar. He is always relevant and in the 80's that was the guitar of choice for the Rock Guitar slinger. Pink no less wow

  • Who's the singer, just out of curiosity... is this the original singer that srv started with by any chance... hmmm, who was better srv or beck, i'm a big srv fan but not sure... was there a skip in the vid?

  • STEVIE WAS INTO ITYOU COULD FEEL THE BLUES

  • Did she call him Jimmy?

  • @MrRano55

she did say Jimmy, that is because Jimmy is doing the first intro -- why in gods name the camera man never shows him is beyond me!

  • jeff becks solo then the hand in his pocket then stevie starts his solo slow then

kicks it into overdrive and blows him out of the water from 4:03 on

  • soundss so much like since i've been loving you

  • 2:35 not very politley to interrupt the lady ; -)

  • Two of the best ever.

  • It's in the pocket!!!

  • both gods in action....what more can u ask?

  • 2 Octopuses!

    Cheers V

  • 4:04 to 4:55 your head will go off your shoulders like a rocket.

  • what happened at 5:00? jeff beck happened

  • people who rip jeff beck are stupid as hell...the guys a master of the guitar and a legend for all time

  • greatest blues jam

  • Incredible sound quality - THANK YOU!!!

  • Wow. Jimmy Vaughan was so much better in the eighties.... Jesus Christ he was good.

  • @mcski2007 And you're an idiot.

  • @mcski2007 you are a joke

  • @dan121973 If you mean pentatonic BS, then yeah. Beck doesn't do any of that crap, because it's been done. TO DEATH.

  • Jeff Beck loves Whammys..He should play a Floyd Rose guitar..

  • @wisesatyr72 hell no he shudnt hahah. man i have a ltd m100fm.....floyd roses are the biggest peices of shit ive ever had to experience hahaha. thank god i now have strat

  • @Guitar1hero23 Yeah real man plays a strat and it will last forever..USA made ones

  • @wisesatyr72 i have a usa made one, and a classic payers 60s strat.....and i prefer the 60s one.

  • @Guitar1hero23 yeah youve gotta take the neck off to adjust the truss rod..

  • @wisesatyr72 yeah, but tht doesnt bug me at all. i love the pickups in it

  • i saw this tour in detroit and both were amazing.stevie played behind his back most of the show!!jeff played every style of music imagineable!! i wont say who was better because it doesn't matter.RIP stevie you are still missed.how in the hell does jeff keep getting better? UNREAL!!!!

  • I was fortunate to see these guy`s in concert in Mlps mn the first concert of the tour.It was way to cool for school.Jeff Beck sound was a little off but Stevie ray tore up the place

  • wowowowowowow stevie! super stuff :D

  • jimmie vaughan pronig to be an encyclopdia of blues. pure soul in his intro solo. jeff did'nt particularly shine on this one. but he waved his freakflag in the presence of blues authority.

  • Beck is better when he plays a Fender, but he still great.

Jimmie didn't impress me at all.

Stevie Ray is a fucking monster. I love him!

  • bad audio quality

  • beck rules but the blues suck.srv goes on for hours ,shoot me!both are great but put srv to do led boots or nadia he would never be able to.

  • Is Stevie laughing at Beck's solo??? I know I am. Wow, must suck to get owned on stage

  • both of them are gods theer so in toon

  • The thing I find hilarious is that it almost seems as if srv is laughing a beck's solo and then he plays an incredible solo, almost as if he was trying to upstage him.

  • Why didnt Jimi ever get it like Stevie did??? like, Jims not even CLOSE......

  • WWOWW Jeff SUCKS

  • @25Ragz, I agree, he sounds like this is his second time picking up a guitar.

  • @pokeymon89 stevie is the best blues guitarits ever. Do you agree?

  • @25Ragz, he is by far the greatest guitarist that ever lived.

  • @grga888 I agree totally. I did not like his soloing at all, no soul.

  • Very nice, very nice. Thanks for posting. These two guys are right up there and there is no doubt. Jimmie Ray Vaughn is a big time jerk. Go see him in concert if you dont' believe me. And, his playing is very, very average.

  • @soltisimba Gotta agree with you there. I"ve met Jimmie twice, and both times he was a prick. I was kinda hoping that the first time he was just having a rough day, but nope, it's all the time

  • @MrCfralick Yup. Just his stage setup (I saw him as the headliner at a blues festival) says it all. He clears this big area for him to strut around in putting everyone else into the background. Hey Jimmy Ray -- you are living off of your brother's fame. Get over yourself. He was not like that with the Fabulous Thunderbirds when I saw them in the late 1980's. But, his head got swolllen somewhere along the line.

  • OMG! I just sank into blues rapture! :o

  • jimi vaughn will never match his brother

  • Re the endless "Who's Better" arguments over guitar tracks on Youtube:

At the top level, you can only get so good. And they are ALL so good.

There. Now there can be no more "Who's better" battles on youtube any more. Ever. The End

  • who's the girl singing?

  • Angela Strehli

  • I saw Stevie Ray live several times, met him, etc and also saw Jeff Beck play. I love them both, and Stevie made better records, but live...no one will blow your mind like Jeff Beck.

  • @logue444 , Yeah Beck's a mind blower alright. Always taking it somewhere new. Even on his first 2 albums playing straight blues he managed to sound original and outside yet authentically blues...practically unheard of. Logue have you heard those Truth & Beckola ? Just great .

  • stevie makes me laugh caus it is ridiculous that any one human being can have so much power soul technique and perfection in anything

  • SRV,Nr 1

  • Sorry for the typo try LiVe at Ronnie Scott's

  • Go check out the "Lice at Ronnie Scott's" cuts here on youtube, and you will see a true master at work. Stevie Ray, Clapton, etc., were totally focussed on blues, and no one will argue their abilities. But no one sounds like Beck, and on those cuts I mentioned you will see that he is better than he has ever been. His tone and technique are unsurpassed. Are Vaughn and Clapton better blues players? Maybe. Have either of them ever played like Beck? No Way.

  • Jeff Beck is great, but better than Eric and Stevie? Not. Maybe than Eric, but that is only when it comes to creativity, as far as Stevie, he can't compare to Stevie. If you listen closely you would notice that Stevie never stayed just at the blues. He could play anything, pretty much similar in a way just like Jeff. Eric and Stevie don't sound like Jeff cause they have their own style. Overall, Stevie is better than Jeff. Stevie is a god of guitar, Jeff is just an excellent guitar player.

  • Go check out Stevie's Texas Flood at El Mocambo and you will see a real true master at work giving the world the greatest electric blues performance of all time, by far one of the greatest guitar performances ever in music history. There is nobody on the planet that can compare to that.

  • Beck has always had a big vision. He's never been content with sitting still, being categorized, fitting into one genre. He's always been pushing the envelope. He cannot be called a blues guitarist, because he plays all kinds of music. Mercurial, explosive, iconoclastic.....that's Jeff. Don't expect a conventional blues solo, or, for that matter, ANYTHING conventional from JB.

Has anyone ever exploited, or pioneered, the expansion of the pure sounds of the electric guitar more? Maybe Les Paul.

  • Big vision? Hahaha... Stop fooling yourself. The guy was creative a bit in the beggining, but later on he started doing nothing special. I could agree he experimented a lot with equipment and sounds, but nothing even close comparing to the guitar god Jimi Hendrix who is the #1 master at such things and to SRV. He is certainly versatile, but not that much that you can say that he can "play anything", also he doesn't sing and plays instrumentals only. If you ask me, definetely overrated.

  • Geez....I gave my opinion, you gave yours. Hendrix was fabulous, I agree. SRV fantastic too. But Beck overrated? Hard for me to agree on that. Have you heard Wired? Blow By Blow? Guitar Shop? You Had It Coming? He ventured into a different, less immediate and less commercial realm. The blues couldn't contain him or limit him. I love blues first and foremost, but for Beck to limit himself to that genre would be--to use a painting analogy--like an artist compelled to paint photo-realistically.

  • He is nothing compared to Jimi and Stevie. He is great, but overrated.

  • Why is it always "my guy is better than your guy" on these forums? I always hesitate any attempt to quantify talent. When is the last time you heard, for example, Mark Knopfler ripping on anyone? All the negativity sucks! You don't have to agree with me; I'm not going to convince you and I won't try. I like SRV, Jimi, Larry Carlton, Charlie Christian, Django, Knopfler, Sonny Landreth, Danny Gatton AND Jeff Beck. There's room for all of 'em. Can't say one is better than another; to try is absurd.

  • I couldn't agree more slim. What it comes down to when you get in that level of great is personal opinion. I think Stevie is the best but I certainly could never call someone out for saying Beck, Clapton, Hendrix. Van Halen or anyone else. I hate it when people feel the need to bash someone else to try and make there point. There all great and have a talent I can only dream about.

  • @NicolletIslandSlim Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, etc... and even more than the 2 mentioned guitar players.

  • @grga888 if you havent...try rory gallager and terri kath of chicago. Both from 70's

  • @2468oldschooltimes Yeah I know them, but I was talking about the greatest of the the greatest, these guys aren't, a fact.

  • @NicolletIslandSlim Jimi Hendrix is better than them both.

  • @tokiluv1 whats your point of posting that ?

  • @NicolletIslandSlim hendrix...

  • Holy crap 4:06 Stevie starts to really feel it!! Still have never heard any one bust out that kind of tone! Incredible.

  • wow, alot of beck haters on here. beck and SRV are both incredible guitarists.

  • Hey dudes, did you noticed that the video was edited and is not a professional recording?

  • oh god jeff beck ruins the mood with his screechy solo, wheres the guile?

  • do you have ears?jimmie vaughans out of time and suck ass attempt at playing the blues is inexcusible, thank god for jeff becks kick ass lead ,followed by the real vaughans lead.open ur ears

  • That's Beck's style. Some people like it and some don't. He isn't the best Blues guitarist out there, and everyone puts their own style in music. Like it or not, they don't care.

  • What mood. I've got more soul on the bottom of my shoe than SRV. He's just takes a sledgehamer all the time no passion

  • U are obviusly a tard,and dont know music even a bit

  • loool that couldnt be more farther from the truth guitar spy :( you truly suck

  • Great video....should have put the camera on Jeff Beck a little more!

  • 3:17 Jeffs famous ill take that to the bank move.... i reaaly didnt think he played anything special in that very moment, but i guess he thought he was rocking that solo.. LOL great video

  • dam...Jimmies solo is stunning...thats how blues should be played

  • Tonight I saw en enjoyed Jeff Beck on the same fetival in Peer, Belgium as I saw SRV in 1988. Soooooo good!

  • great festival!

  • Angela Strehli was in a band called Southern Feeling with WC Clark who later on was in Triple Threat Revue with SRV. WC Clark was co-writer of "Cold Shot" with keyboard player Mike Kindred.

  • SRV looks like a little kid, this is great footage, who is the broad with the stellar vocals

  • Comment removed

  • i've never seen this footage before, thank you so much for posting

  • brillant! thanks for sharing this gem!

    love!!!

  • great post!

  • Jeff's solo toward the end is unreal...it's great seeing SRV just stop playing mid-song to applaud him

  • This is a big deal... SRV was the new golden child, Beck was old guard, the T-Birds werent signed yet nor was Angela. SRV was the reason for the show, and he had his friends up trying to get them a record deal. Find me a 'star' today that does that... NONE. SRV was a good man, and a great guitarist.

  • Wait, are you trying to tell me that the Fabulous Thunderbirds weren't signed in 84?

    Bahahaha.

I guess that's why they'd already put out 4 albums?

  • It was actually Jimmy who introduced Stevie to everyone and got him a deal

  • JV is great on the intro.

  • And Stevie is the best overall on this track!

  • Jimmie Vaughan opens up. His playing & tone are un mistakeable

  • the camera man is on crack! stevie is still great though

  • I love the way Jimmie plays..

  • Comment removed

  • It's Jeff Beck, not Jimmie Vaughan.

  • k buddy if you could listen by ear you would know that jimmy vaughan is playing

  • this edit job u did on this is awful.

  • where is Jimmie in this performance? the camera doesn't show him once...

  • yeah it does, he's on the right in a white shirt. Look for him at 2:00 - 2:10.

  • Hand in the pocket at 3:18.

  • That's Jeff Beck.

  • oops..my bad!

  • Ha Ha, she said Jimmy Vaughan will start!! I think she got the wrong brother! lol All good by the way. Nice show.

  • Jimmy did start. The camera was just on Stevie.
