Being a cop for more than 22 years in the province of Quebec, if I want to access the information related to the gun registry when I stop a car or when I deal with a citizen , I must physically make that request on the computer. Look into the the bill the conservatives are going to replace the registry with. Its still a registry but its electronic as opposed to the lil scrap of paper we carry with each gun. The registration process IS STILL THERE but we wont have to carry the slip ne more. wrtie you local polititions and let them know this is not good enough, be polite but forcefull and keep writing untill they reply.

Nope, being fifeteen doesn't make you a school shooter. One of my friends sons is around that age and he is very safe and resonsible with guns. I think the key is for parents to teach their kids to respect firearms and use them safely when they are young.

massltca, The "43 times" stat comes from the Kellerman et al study and has been thoroughly debunked for years and years. He was even reprimanded (eventually, after quite a stir from intellectually honest researchers) for playing fast and loose with the numbers. Kellerman went so far as to out-right ignore statistics and numbers that went against his preconceived conclusions!

That's why I distrust statistics, they are all smoke and mirrors. One statistic the anti-freedom lobby likes to trot out is,"Guns kept in the home are 43 times more likely to injure the owner than prevent a crime." That statistic is completely bogus. I have owned firearms since I was 18 and so have most of my extended family and none of us have shot ourselves or anyone else.
