Hey...I played on the first MCHS football team and graduated in 71. We thought we were pretty good. We weren't and not nearly half as good as you guys. Keep it up and most of all, enjoy it while you can. Time goes by too quickly.
@Squoshua17 Yaeh our defense will take a hit without berry and rogan but but our front seven will be as dominate as it was before all the injuries happened last year and 2 of the 4 starting dbs will be back with janzen jackson and art evans and we still have the high recruits in this class and last years class in darren myles jr and eddrick loften
@Squoshua17 You are wrong about our defense giving up that many points. The only thing we are thin on is DT, the secondary is gonna be fine as will the defense in general. Jackson and Myles are not Berry but they will lead the secondary nicely. But anyway, one thing im sure we can agree on, this is the best recieving class in i dont know how long for us.
@alex Thebeast107 bruh kylematheney just made a serious point on the o-line we are just fine in the trenches on the o-line and as for the d-line we still have starting d-ends chris walker and ben martin plus we have two four star d-ends coming in not mention the dudes thats already there we just need to fill the d-tackle spots, the linabcker positon is set nick reveiz is coming back plus frazier, lamarcus thompson and the dude that filled in for frazier and reveis when they got hurt so we fine
@lilquez010 I'm glad you're optimistic. I wish I could have the same optimism as well. But I'm sorry there is no way anyone can convince me to not be concerned about the Oline. We have to replace 4 starters and nobody is really proven except for Aaron Douglas. I feel pretty good about all the other postions, but the Oline and Dline could really set us back if our players don't develop. We need to hope and pray that we don't get too many injuries.
@lilquez010 I have read them bruh. All I'm saying is when you have 5 new starters on the Oline who haven't played many significant minutes, and a QB with basically no experience, the prognosis doesn't look good. It's just the reality of it.
Hopefully these guys come out with a chip on their shoulder and prove everyone wrong. I think we have some decent talent on the Oline, but they need experience and we must get more depth. I can't stress that enough.
@kylematheney While I'm a very passionate Vol fan too, I have to disagree about a BCS title coming soon. Yes, we have some great talent at the WR, RB, and now QB position, but we still are very thin on the offensive and defensive line. That's where football games are won dude. And we aren't close to being where we need to be. Saying that we'll win a BCS "very soon" is a little crazy to say at this point. No offense. We'll get another BCS title one of these days, but it's gonna take some time.
JR W. Brimfield 6-5 346, SO B. Galyon 6-5 310, JR C. Pope 6-6 288, SO J Schofield 6-6 315, SR J Shaw 6-4 332, plus signees J. James 6-6 290, Z. Fulton 6-5 315, M. Pair 6-6 275, J. Stone 6-4 295, plus a hand full of others on the team already, and 2-3 more signing classes to play along side these kids... If you look up a line up of the 1998 Vol roster, it was near identical.
and another interesting fact, that first guy, Birmfield is the same height as Terrance Cody and 7 pounds shy of his weight.
as for the 2009-10 Bama line, they had 17 players none out sizing any of ours by any means. It isn't just about size and depth though both are good. It's about assignments. And in football games are won by turnovers. A line is no more important than any other position, and with Bray's drop step and scramble he'll buy himself an extra 2 seconds at least without the line.
@kylematheney you make a good point, but all those guys you just mentioned are unproven. And there is no way our Oline is anywhere near as talented as the 98 squad. The point is, we are going struggle next year and probably the year after that until we get the talent, depth, and experience back on the Oline and Dline. I'm not trying to sound negative, because I want us to win championships too. But we've got to realize it's going to take some time
that's me number 4, missing that tackle. Hell Yea

That's a very good point Squoshua about Harry Hiestand, here are some O-Lineman that Hiestand coached David Diehl and Duke Preston.

Mascoutah!! Go Milton

looks like he has the most talent of this years class. what a gem Dooley gets in Milton. He is gonna be fun to watch.
yourTHElame 2 years ago
Not to discredit him, he looks great.
But have you watched Justin Hunter, Da'Rick Rogers, or Ted Meline? Milton is one in an all-star catch.
We will have a great receiving class, plus Tyler Bray under center and we're bringing back Bryce Brown and David Oku in the RB position.
Plus Luke Stocker back at TE, Gerald Jones, Denarius Moore, and Marsalis Teague are all coming back.
Don't be surprised to see a BCS NC contender come out of Knoxville very soon.

I don't agree that this kid is a better WR than Proviso West's Kyle Prater. Regardless, still a stud athlete.
