@thebucketmouse The case just seems to work better, the 17 pounder in a box seems to emit more smoke or at least it looks better than this. With a case you get a slower burn time which will allow it to take longer to smoke and actually create more smoke. Plus the case directs the smoke to one end as to avoid it just going everywhere. This 30 pounder would've been amazing had it been cased somehow.

@picassopainter2 there were also other things in the mix that were put in the 17 pound mix. Probly some backing soda to slow the reaction. If you use just straight up KNO3 and Sugar you have a rocket engine, but if you want a smoke bomb, you need to slow down the reaction but still have it combustable.

Paraifin wax and backing soda are good ways to slow down the reaction
