1) you pronounced both the names "Llewellyn" and "Tibbett" incorrectly.
2) the writers don't suggest Zorin is nuts because of experiments performed by the KGB. It's implied that he is a clone or some sort of abandoned "Boys from Brazil" Nazi thing. His *German* doctor/mentor made that pretty obvious. He's like Mengle.
3) "the movie having nothing to do with the (original) story"... That doesn't make it unique among the films. Most don't resemble the books at all.
Just replying to @NecroVMX because you so maturely blocked my other username: That would make AVTAK the 16th film, not 17th. Try not to be so wise when you only fail :-)

a think casting was great for this film with the villains and henchmen being very ruthless towardsanyone who stands in their way, walken and jones were great and may days redemption in helping bond was a lot better than jaws in moonraker, the locations were brilliantly chosen in the film and moore definitely tries his best despite his age, a memorable film :)
If it werent for Christopher Walken and Grace Jones the movie would have sucked. Despite the reviews i like this movie so much because Walken is so splendid, he just saved the movie.
This movie is fun. I know people complain about Roger Moore's age, but at least he can act, Tanya Roberts is one of the worst bond girls from a pure acting standpoint IMO. Her character's intresting and not annoying, but her voice is off and facial movements are off in this movie IMO. Still, Zorin's one of the best bond villians IMO. My favorite villians: Blofield (Telly Salavas) Dr. No Sanchez Trevelyan La chiffre Emilo Largo (Thunderball) Elektra king Zorin Strumberg
So do I. AVTAK is one of my favorite Bond films actually, I loved it. I loved the plot, the villain Zorin and the wicked performance by Walken, the henchmen, the locations like San Francisco - one of my most desired to go locations in the world, excellent action scenes such as the eiffel tower chase, fire truck chase and the final fight scene. My third favorite Bond film from Moore, behind FYEO and TSWLM
I think had Timothy Dalton done aview to a kill it would have been a great movie, If Dalton had have done this one Bond and Mayday could have had a really good fight at the end but with with Roger Moore being 57 in this film lets face it Mayday would have kicked the shit out of him lol
seen since Blofeld, as he (Christopher Walken) did such a great job. The plot first involving the destruction of Silicon Valley was outstanding. Tanya Roberts as Stacy Sutton, she was hot, great Bond girl. Grace Jones, although a weird choice was great in the role of May Day and to top it all; the action scenes were among the best - Eiffel Tower scene, fire truck chase, final fight on the Golden Gate Bridge.. Moore was old in this final performance, not a big deal.
My aunt actually met Christopher Walken years go believe it or not. At the time, she was treating his sick mother in the hosptial and she spoke to him directly.
She said of Walken that what you see onscreen is what you get in real life. He is just as odd as his movie counterparts.
well i didnt notice moore was that old at the time so ill try to ignore that and just to comment thought i know this wasnt the only one christopher lee was at least a good potrayal of scaramanga in the film man with the golden gun but other than that i agree
A View To A Kill is one of my favorites. One of the best plots if not the very best. Locations were terrific, especially San Francisco. Great acting, and some of the very best action scenes ever to be found on Bond. These include the Eiffel Tower chase with Roger Moore and Jones, the Fire Truck Chase in San Francisco at night with City Hall burning out, and of course the famous Golden Gate Bridge scene, Moore's last fight.underrated film, and one of the best.
@lonnie727 yes and no, a character who played the armorer "major boothroyd" was in it, he wasn't called Q until later and was played by a different actor
There was such an interesting cast in this movie, with Tanya Roberts, Christopher Walken, and Grace Jones. They seem almost like complete polar opposites. I mean Tanya is the hot ditzy damzel, Grace the eccentric and androgonous villain, and Christopher the accomplished actor who who comes off as arrogant and condescending. I wonder how they all got along off set.
Like moonraker, I enjoyed this for what it was: A great little yet flawed action movie. Clearly moore never wanted to do it and he's of grandad stature by this point. In fact, he looks so old here that I swear the gap between this and octopussy looks more like 6 or 7 years instead of 2!
I actually didn't mind AVTAK. Sure Moore was old, but that didn't bother me that much. Zorin was awesome though. This film should have been a Dalton film, think about it: On one hand, you got a nasty sadistic sick twisted Max Zorin, now imagine Zorin fighting Dalton's cold, dark Bond.
@NecroVMX The 'Casino Royale' spoof was not a MOVIE, it was a part of a TV series called Climax. It is indeed you who is failing.
Besides, you don't know which many unofficial Bond movies that have been made, using your loose definition you have no idea how many there are. Perhaps I made some in my childhood? This is perhaps the 19th, or 140th, Bond movie.
What Necrovmx means by "The 17th James Bond movie" is that he included the 3 unofficial Bond films in his feature. Casino Royale (1954), Casino Royale (1967), and Never Say Never Again.
You are part right, Goldeneye is the 17th OFFICIAL Bond film, but like I said, NecroVMX included the 3 unofficials.
This is one of my favourite Bond movies. Moore is defenitly too old for the role in that time. I think its the first Bond movie, in which the Villain is even better than James Bond himself.
@ienjoysleeping well, youre right. I loved Donald Pleasence's portrayal of Blofeld. He was much much better than Savalas or (the awfully Horrible) Charles Gray. But I think, that Blofeld didnt had much screentime in YOLT.
This film is so much fun and yes it did borrow heavily from Goldfinger, but then wasn't The Spy Who Loved Me just a rehash of You Only Live Twice?
I used to hate this film but upon repeat viewing I have to say it is a very good film and lots of fun - much better than the Brosnan or Craig films with the possible exception of The World Is Not Enough.
Roger Moore brought humour to the role which is severly lacking in todays Bond.
It was quite a good Bond film and Zorin was the most screwed up Bond villain to date. Moore ended on a high with this and Grace Jones was excellent, wouldn't have minded a tumble with her myself.
I concur, I get sick of all these Connery obsessives who say Moore was a comedian and wasn't hard enough. He still got the job done, but only killed when he had to, and made the role lighter.
Hi Streatham Glen, you're right. I grew up in the Moore era and found his films a lot lighter than the Connery ones. Connery was very good, but I found Diamonds Are Forever to be awful and Thunderball overrated and overlong. Moore's films were all more watchable and easier going.
Many people hate this movie but I really love it. A View To A Kill is one of my favorite Bond movies. Roger Moore shines as always. Tanya Roberts is definitely one of the most beautiful and memorable Bond Girls. Christopher Walken was brilliant as Max Zorin. Grace Jones was great as well.
The main theme song was fantastic - A View to a Kill performed by Duran Duran
Christopher Walken almost ALWAYS makes a good villain-- he's one of those actors who you just could never imagine playing a good guy, or even a neutral character; even the characters he has played that aren't villains are just...creepy in some strange way, just looking at them. He underplays it slightly here as opposed to what he usually does, and to me that makes it all the more effective-- Zorin is definitely (to me at least) one of the better Bond villains.
I agree about this one being Immense, Had Timothy Dalton Made this one It probarbly would've been more effective because of how Intense Dalton's bond portrayal is.
I like this film. I know alot of fans disliked this movie, (some fans even considerd A View To A Kill to be the worst James Bond movie) but I find it enjoyable. In fact, A View To A Kill was nominated for a Golden Globe for best original song. How cool is that?
I am a big Bond fan, and I think this one is pretty fun to watch, Zorin's awesome, and I also like all the scenes in San Francisco (THIS 007 movie is the one with the most scenes set in the USA)
Wow, I was expecting you to slaughter A View To A Kill...It's not a great film, and Roger Moore is too old. I watched it on the big screen the other day and Roger's stuntman should really get a credit...
But I still like it. I like Grace Jones, the Fiona Fullerton bit, Christopher Walken and the interplay between Roger Moore and Patrick MacNee is great.
And yes, you're right - the Duran Duran theme tune is one of the best.
Grace Jones is just weird-looking. What on earth IS she????
Tanya Roberts is just God-awful. About all she does is scream "James!!", "James!!!!"
In one scene where Bond's car supposedly rolls down a hill and into a lake, you can actually see the cables being used to pull the car down!!!
On the positive side, the firetruck chase scene through San Francisco is very funny, especially where the police cars all fall down the opening drawbridge.
so you want a film review on a view to kill... which you could probably just ask your dad if its good or not? Were you abused as a child cos your response was rather over the top. and you didnt even understand the comment... do you go to school or bunk off because it is "cool"... i wish i was you.
I always thaught Roger had at least one more Bond film in him - he looked much younger and fitter than he did in 'Octopussy' and his Bond was fun and occasionally echoed his darker side. I liked Dalton but he was too serious. Roger Moore was a fantastic 007 and I tip my hat to him - Nobody does it better!
Walkin did such a great job in this movie, that he, alone, is worth watching the movie. Despite Grace Jones, despite Tanya Roberts (awful) and despite old Bond (only really horrible in terms of getting into bed with young girls), this movie is interesting. And frankly (again) Walkin's insanity is palpable and compelling.
Moore should have never came back for this one he was 57 when they filmed this one and probly wasnt in great phsyical condition to do alot of the stunts
Oh boy, next comes the Timothy Daulton years. The mean Bond. I never liked Daulton as Bond. He had no charisma and all ways had that "I'm gonna kick your ass" look in his face.
good overview, it really was, I actually almost completely agree with you on this one....I personally really liked this one, It's probably because that was the age I first really understood these movies and I saw this one first-
i think its cool that moore is old. because it looks great to see an older guy kick the shit out of people! moore is my favorite bond.

Why do people just repeat what I say?

I really do not know, perhaps because you do not own the words.

Wow, what a douche. First you just come and say the same shit I said as if it's insightful then you give me a smartass response.
Go die somewhere.

Oh boy, next comes the Timothy Daulton years. The mean Bond. I never liked Daulton as Bond. He had no charisma and all ways had that "I'm gonna kick your ass" look in his face.

I love that I'm gonna kick your ass look. He's the closest to the Bond in the books, save for maybe Daniel Craig.

The Duran Duran song is the only thing positive from this movie (and Walken) but... other than that, jeezus!

1) This was the best Bond song ever.
2) Bond should have been played by Pierce Brosnan. Fucking Remington Steele.

good overview, it really was, I actually almost completely agree with you on this one....I personally really liked this one, It's probably because that was the age I first really understood these movies and I saw this one first-
