One thing just kept confusing me even after movie... was Robert Carlyle's character Colonel Ives pretending to be Colqhoun, or Colqhoun pretending to be Colonel Ives?
@mrlychan I wasn't hungover but it may have actually been Thanksgiving Eve. My brother and I drank some beers and watched it. So underrated. The music alone was worth 4 stars. Definitely fits well with cold weather.
Back in 1999 i remember skipping school at 16 and going to the local cinema. I remember how amazing and diferent this sounded. I also remember a old couple walking off in the middle of the movie casuse they couldn`t handle the meat scenes.
I remember both watching last of the mohicans and Ravenous as a kid. Back when blockbuster rained supreme and all movies came in tapes lol. To this day, this soundtrack as well as the latter has been stained to my brain housing group. Awesome song... good memories :)
"We want you write a song for a scene in which the hero claws his way out of a deadfall trap, having just finished devouring his friend to restore his strength and begins a long trek across an impossibly bleak but hauntingly beautiful landscape... with a broken leg."
Only something this incredibly weird could have sufficed.
Windigo syndrome-a craving for human flesh,Alexander Pearce was a true example of someone who became afflicted with the syndrome whilst trying to escape a Tazmanian penal colony in the eighteen hundreds. He and 7 other convicts made off into the bush where they then proceeded to eat each other as they had no idea how to live off the land,Pearces claims of canabalism were rejected until he escaped a second time only to hand himself in with human remains in his pockets,Pearce was executed.
@pejb83 I dont think Nietzche meant that literally. I thought he was referencing holism, with the comparison with the inverse dynamic of the abyss. Thats why they misspelled Nietzsche, right?
I see where your coming from, but I'm sure you would change your mind once you have a bunch of near cannonball-width musket balls flying at you along with a platoon of vicious farmers with bayonets.
awesome unusual soundtrack, hell yeah !

Imagine the request:
"We want you write a song for a scene in which the hero claws his way out of a deadfall trap, having just finished devouring his friend to restore his strength and begins a long trek across an impossibly bleak but hauntingly beautiful landscape... with a broken leg."
Only something this incredibly weird could have sufficed.

how can you not praise originality and creativity that this entire movie's score shows brilliantly, its hauntingly beautiful
-he who fights with monsters should see to it that he himself does not become one. ~Friedrich Nietsche
- Eat me (wolf howl) ~Anonymous

you can be as much of a bigot about the film as you want (its still good!) but you cannot argue with the wonderful score!
