My grandmother who passed away had strong native american features. She had cherokee in her blood stream. It is a historical fact that slaves who escaped from slavery fled to lands where there were native americans. Many of them intermingled and married. And for the comment on where black americans came from. Many slaves were taken from West Africa particulary Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Ghana. That's a historical fact.
i feel you i am also native american . and sometimes it fustrates me when people try to tell me their native and they dont even know their tribe or they are cherrokee. i love finding videos that i can agree with.
well im half native and black and have been raised around natives my whole life an it usually shocks people when they see me with a group of all natives but i like ur video :) (im Northern Cheyenne, soiux from lamedeer mt get ahold of me if you find the need ! ok )
The rest of the world, apart from nigger infested shitholes, has always had a strong literary tradition. There are so many great names....Homer,Chaucer, Shakespeare, Cervantes. And they are not only Europeans. China has a wealth of classical literature dating back to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770 to 256 BCE. India is famous for its Hindu epics. But as for Afreaka .....nothing, zilch, nada.
I refuse to tell people my race because its such a negative stereotype to be the "african with native american blood", It really bothers me people always ask me what race I'm mixed with, I say I'm not mixed.
@pistolkrystle - I agree with you 100%. Every time someone who appears to be just "Black," and mention that they're decedents of Native Americans, you're automatically called a liar! When it's obvious Black & Native Americans did mix together. It's ignorance, so I don't say it either. I just say, I'm American unless I'm asked about my Native genes.
anyways , it's not just politically correct. So, what would africans call an native with some black blood - indian black? if your half/native it doesn't matter if ur white or black.your still a half/blood.i can see u don't understand nothing about being a half/blood as u still think ur a black. if u claim that , y post a vid about being part this or that? that is hypocritical.
i think using the word 'black indian' is wrong. native ppl are in opposition to the word 'INDIAN', i wonder y u don't know that. plus i never hear anyone say they are a ' white indian' . u get me?
@interstellarwonder I got you. Indian is politically incorrect in some circles. I did not mean any insult to those who are offended by the term "Indian" or "Black Indian". Personally, I do not care about white people who are decendants of Indigenous Americans and choose not to call themselves "White Indians". Technically, Indians are from "India". Yes, I get it.
My gran is full blood Mam from Guatemala and my grandpa is garifuna (black + carib/arawak mix). My mom is straight up boricua soooo I'm sure we have taino running thru our veins as well.
@purpleteardrops1 Hi, just found out I have a strong connection with Carribean people from Jamica, Bahamas, Haiti and New Providence (close genetic markers). So your gran is Puerto Rican?
I hear this all the time. The first time I heard it was when I was pumping gas.. and just cuz I helped someone pay an extra 14 to pay for his gas..he claimed he was native american, and 1/8 but didn't tell us which tribe..he just took off...my man is half black and muskogee creek and has wavy hair... My son has straight hair and daughter has big waves. Oh and he ain't cherokee.
maybe so, but there are too many imposters, they are just trying to protect their tribal culture and national identity nothing wrong with that if majority of these folk took DNA test they would be salty..and that natuve american DNA may in fact just be some sort of european...but the numbers are low...because there arent even over 3 million native americans in the US
@ blaclandindia? you may be native american and only native americans, real ones can identify you as one of them either by blood or by documents but rest asure you things are gonna change because many want to weed out the leechers and those who are not of blood..
watch?v=Xh7on-0EHNU watch that this is the problem in the black community
Yes freedmen were slaves to natives(5 civilized tribes) most are not authentic native americans sure there are some who mixed and those i would consider...native americans have the right dictate who is a true native and who is not 1/4 native is a good indicator.
many true native americans do not consider those who are native by association and not by blood to be true native americans..
most of those people are not part taino you lumping everyone<-- in one categorie thats the common misconception IN PR is mostly white, mullato.... the black population is about 10%... individually they are not all part taino.. about 27% of the island as a whole is of african/Yoruba ancestry
this is false and those are countries..those countris you listed have black people obviously and other races too
and its false that more than 10% of black americans have native american ancestry even many freedmen dont have native blood spite them being associated with the tribe
did it ever occur that mabye your just a fat bitch who is chubby mabye thats what made you think your native because of your round face alot of people who are not native have those features you dumb bitch loool
@borneo215 dude that was so uncalled for and you're being straight up ignorant. you don't even know anything about her, i'm hate people who try to discredit someones ancestry or ethnicity without even being in their shoes.
I'm not speaking about biracial people. i find it interesting that those of us who are BLACK, the product of a black mother and father, always choose to speak of this distant Native, Asian etc, ancestry. You don't see other races of ppl claiming their African ancestry be it recent or distant.
@borneo215stop trying to divide us. i too am cherokee, blackfoot and east african with a hint of european (white blood) let me correct you . So What if some native american did enslave blacks - not all native americans did. and just like so white enslaved black people some did not even if they did enslave blacks it would noe negate the fact that there is a connection between native americans and african americans (blacks) because there are a great deal of white people with black blood
I claim all of my heritage which is white, black, and cherokee indian(NC tribe). My indian blood comes in about 4 generations back, but i still claim it because that 's apart of me!
I hate that stupid 1 drop rule.we don't live in the 1800s anymore! so im gonna say i'm mixed. it's 2011 and our president is MIXED not BLACK!!!!
Besides, my skin is white and even if I were to say I'm black, ppl would look at me as if i'm crazy because I'm so pale. lol
@SimplySydneyficant I am glad you recognize that but 30% of all African Americans are mixed without even knowing it. Hypodescent is what you speak of the one drop rule. I am of mixed descent, both my mom and my dad have Cherokee Indian, my Dad who is white, and my mom who is Afro American. I claim African American more then anything, but if you want to be accurate over 30% of White Americans and 66% from the South have a 3.2% of African admixture due to slavery this nation is a mixed nation
No group brought civilization to any group. Although I have Native ancestry because of pictures of people in my family, I AM NOT NATIVE AMERICAN. THE OLMECS ARE NATIVE AMERICAN. NOT BLACK AFRICAN.
No group brought civilization to any group. Although I have Native ancestry because of pictures of people in my family, I AM NOT NATIVE AMERICAN. THE OLMECS ARE NATIVE AMERICAN.
this lady is a fake i tried to post a video reply showing you how blacks have no ties with native americans and that native americans enslaved blacks returning escaped slaves to whites i had a very good video showing you this its on my channel if you dont believe me THIS WOMEN IS A STUPID LYING SHIT SHE DIDNT ACCEPT THE VIDEO RESPONSE BECAUSE SHE KNEW I WAS GONNA REVEAL HER LYING ASS.
@borneo215 Though it is true that some Native Americans owned slaves and returned escaping slaves. This is not true for all Native Americans, because many tribes had hostility towards whites and wouldn't being buying and trading with whites. You need more than a documentary to prove she is lying more like a DNA test. The statistics are 1-20 so their are Black people with Native American ancestry. She said her ancestry was recent meaning slavery was over by that time.
@ProphetGuardian you people lied to us so many times what makes you think im gonna believe you know lol nobody cares about race anymore its you that still wants racism to exist because if you really were not racist you would not steal and lie about having someone else's race and bring race up all the fukking time you are a piece of shit all of you African Americans what proof do you have i have the best doc on blacks having no ties with native Americans and i have DNA proof show me your proof
@borneo215 You people?! I have not told you any lie and I'm not part of any group trying to claiming to be Native Americans. What I saying is that there are a percentage of African Americans who have Native American ancestry. I'm not saying all African Americans have Native American ancestry or it makes you a Native American if you do have Native American ancestry.
@ProphetGuardian wow a large portion of whites have native ancestry so what? did you even bother looking at my video it shows you all you need to know and the info is from a proud African American so you cant make bullshit like hes white hes giving false info.. Just look at the video it has all you need to know about what i'm trying to tell you don't hate me because i tell truth why are you so upset im telling the truth? JUST LOOK AT THE VIDEO ITS IN MY CHANNEL IT WILL SHOW YOU THE TRUTH!!
@borneo215 I am not upset nor do I hate you. Actually I seen your videos multiple times. I actually watched it on PBS when it first aired. I never said he was giving false info. You title the video "Blacks Are Not Natives" which is redundant because Blacks aren't natives nor do they claim to be. The clip was about Blacks having or not having Native American ancestry. 1-20 Blacks have Native American ancestry so not everyone is falsely claim Native American ancestry.
@ProphetGuardian exactly i in fukkin 20 that is nothing compared to the whole population of America so why do you all claim to be a native just be hones please why do you guys i have seen so any videos and people telling me olmecs were blacks and the blacks came and enslaved us and teach us how to build empires and shit like that. just go on youtube and watch all the videos then come to me saying blacks don't claim every race!!
@borneo215 Not everyone is claiming to have Native American ancestry as most black people don't care. The Olmecs is a completely different topic from what we were originally discussing. This is different from being black and having a ancestor who was Native American. This is mainly an Afrocentric thing and doesn't reflect the thinking and beliefs majority of Black people. Explaining this would be hard as you'll hear different theory's and beliefs concerning "Olmecs being black"
@ProphetGuardian yh sure black people dont care well all the people iv seen claim native or indigenous people are black? now how can that be if they don't care now im guessing you are a black person? defending your black race and not stating truth instead trying to make believe nice try tho i couldn't care less about what you say you write as if your some fukkin professor i bet in real life you are a retard who don't know shit if black people dont care about it why are you here talking bullshit?
@borneo215 First of the majority of Black folks pay no attention to Native American or Indigenous people. Being Indian is not at the top of their to do list. Just because you see a few youtube videos with Afrocentrics claiming Olmecs are black doesn't mean every Black person thinks this way. You are complaining about less than .000001% of Black people and throwing in billions of other Black people who never even heard of an Olmec before in their lives. Stop generalizing an entire race of people.
I CAN SAY THE SAME TO YOU NOT ALL PEOPLE HAVE BLACK IN THEM I BET THAT MUST REALLY HURT YOUR FEELINGS WELL THE TRUTH HURTS!! ANYWAY I DON'T GENERALIZE I I JUST SAY IT HOW WE SEE IT I CAN SHOW YOU TONS OF VIDEOS THAT WILL EVEN MAKE YOU GO WOW WTF WERE WE THINKING LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANTS SOME ABSURD VIDEO SHOWING BLACKS OWNED CHINA AND ALL KINDS OF SHIT NOBODY ELSE DOES THAT EXCEPT AFRICAN AMERICANS!! I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE FUKKIN VIDEO SHOWING OTHER RACES CLAIMING SO MUCH YET LOOKING SO STUPID
@borneo215 Your just fishing for an argument. Like I seriously believed everyone has black in them until now. Be honest are you just using me as an outlet for your anger at specific black person? I have never posted a video or comment, or even thought along the lines of Black people having enslaving the Chinese, and Native Americans. Or even saying the Chinese or Native American were/ are Black. It seem your falsely accusing me of some outrageous, quite laughable stuff.
@borneo215 Someone must hate it when a Black Indian claims his/her Indigenous American blood. Everyone is not a liar. Don't worry, I don't want your government handout. ;-/
@borneo215 how can you call somebody a lier, just bc she dont want to look at a twisted white history story...those people that own slaves was mixbloods not traditional native people bc it was never our custom to own slaves and if we captured someone from another tribe..they absorb into our tribe or was release to go where pleased...we didnt have eugenic views only when whites poision came to our shores spreading eugenics
thank you for this vid!!! im blackfoot cherokee and european. I mean were in AMERICA!!! so many cultures in one place there is bound to be interacial mixing some where down the line. did you know some native americans were slave owners?? they did the same thing the white men did...anywho i could rant about this all day but i think you said it all quite well. and i thank you gamsahanida! (korean) lol XD
@TruthFan I knew I had a twin out there. :-) I did see my twin about 4 or 5 years ago at a restaurant. Funny, because we both looked at each other as if we saw a ghost. I told my hubbie to check her out and he too thought we could past for twins.
@BlackAmericanIndia You have a doppleganger. I always thought that there was a twin of me out there somewhere. I have been wanting to do more research into my ancestry. I know what people say we have but it's better to do a DNA test.
I have native ancestry. My family is registered with the Cherokee Nation. I don't care for the opinions of others when it comes to my ancestry... it's not about pinpointing a percentage of Native American ancestry and focusing on it. I acknowledge my Native ancestry just as I do my African ancestry. Being a sociology major I understand the social construct of race and the one-drop rule bullshit. But because of my education I transcend above the common ignorance and know my truth.
You do look as if you could have some native blood BUT... You are still a nigga primarily in appearance. EVERYONE will have a little of this and a little of that in them. If a parent or recent relative is not native and you did not grow up with the culture (not black indians with feathers!), then you are black. Blacks love talking that native shit even when they look like they just came from Africa. It is ok to be black, or maybe not?
my dad was from the west indies and my mom is german/irish and choctaw nation of oklahoma. i found out that the choctaw really come from the southeast. look up the trail of tears and the dawes rolls.
A full-blood native will give you grief, and rightfully so. In my experience I conclude that they despise white ppl & many think we're only here b/c of them. I remember my great grandmother looking just like a Native American as a child I just assumed she was and being too young 2 even grasp the magnitude of it & what it really meant to myself as an individual. I always thought of myself as just BLACK. But around 98 I attended a fam. reunion n VA on my great grandmother's side & WOW CHEROKEE!
Its said 1-20 Black people have Native American Ancestry. I heard it on a Henry Louis gates special. I'm not sure about those stats, because they only check maternal lineage so a lot of your ancestry is being missed out on when they do the DNA test. I was told my great great grandfather was Blackfoot. I don't really claim NA ancestry because that culture doesn't seem like something I'd claim as my own.
@ProphetGuardian This is true. My maternal grandmother's side of the family probably will not have African Blood. If so, then very little. The Black African ancestry would be from my maternal grandfather's side of the family.
@ProphetGuardian I watched African American Lives and I remember that statistic. It was a very interesting show. What they said was only 1 in 20 AA had any measurable NA DNA. If you watch the Tina Turner clip on youtube you can see what they actually said. Btw they actually did an autosomal DNA or Admixture DNA test not just the Mt DNA test ( Maternal lineage) and with men the y test.
@arrein88 I'm aware that rumors were started about Native American ancestry to cover up European ancestry. But I think a lot of Blacks do have some Native American ancestry because many of our European ancestors intermarried Native Americans.
Respond to this video... The MtDNA test only tells you where one your ancestors came from and it's the same with the Y Chromosome test. I think they used ancestrybydna and the company that specializes in African dna.
thats an excuse to me when black people say they have indian in they family that stuff dosent count to me when its waaaaaaaaaaaaay down the line the blood line changes up every time you add different ethnicity to them!
I am Choctaw, Cheerokee, Cree, Navajo, Yakima, and Lakota Sioux plus Black. I'm always hesitant to claim my culture or learn about because everytime i meet a Fullblood, they give me so much SHIT. I am at times very ashamed of how stupidly bitter they are towards Mixed bloods, i really don't understand there logic. Just because your pure makes you better???? BULLSHIT. It pisses me off.....
@aspyn002 Im mixed blood native! half black and native(teton) Lakota! I can understand. It might help if you don't say you are mixed with all those because it unlikely! if cherokee you could be mixed with choctaw, but for the most part not navajo n choctaw or cherokee. know what I mean other natives view it like that. just though another mixed blood would give some advise hope I helped.
BlackAmericanIndian refer to yourself by your tribe instead of Native American because that is the name the creator gave you. I don't know any NDN who refers to themselves as Native American or Indian they always say their tribe first. I hope you attend Pow Wows and try to learn about your culture. I am from WI and know about the Eastern Band of Cherokee . mitakuye oyasin
@arrein88 Thanks for leaving your comment. Many Black/African American Native Americans are not sure which tribe because their "native american ancestors" may be mixed with other tribes or may not have a clue which tribe. Just having that "indian" blood.
I was responding to someones comments that Native Americans don't accept Black people or get offended by a Black person claiming descent from their tribe and not with White people. I just wanted to comment that isn't necessarily true. There are lots of people of mixed descent on the Oneida, and Menominee reservations with Black, Mexican, and White. You have to be at least a quarter however to be considered Native by the government or considered for enrollment.
I wanted to say that Native Americans get offended by people claiming to be Native American when they aren't enrolled in a tribe, have a Cherokee princess story,or make up a tribe that doesn't exist. This goes for White and Black people who claim descent from Native Americans. These comments are usually accompanied by some ignorant statement like that is why I turn red from staying out in the sun or why the bottom of my hands are red. I have even gotten that's why my roots are dark .
I am also black and Native with Irish. I'm just curious. It is rare to find a lot of others who are authenticly of Native blood. I have Choctaw ancestry. My great grandmother lived on a reservation, she was Choctaw and she married a black man. I'm still trying to research. I also get really angry when people assume we don't know what we're talking about. I like that you can trace your ancestry that far back. That's pretty cool.
@Browny9616 I've had that issue too. I don't put anything. Usually they ask and theres a do not wish to respond or an other section. I write multi racial if they ask explain next to other, or I don't answer. Don't let anyone make you chose who you define yourself as. :)
@TreScotts1Fan If your great grandmother was 100% native then by the time it gets down to you its only 12.5% . In the Native tribes and also the government eyes you have to be at least 1/4 for other Natives and also the government to accept you as Native. That would mean at least one of your grand parents would have to be native not one of your great grand parents. So the Natives and the government would look at you as not quite making the cut. But shit, feel free to celebrate that 12.5%
@BiracialGirl1977 Well it comes in on my other Great Grand mother's side and my Grand mother celebrated her roots also. THanks. I will celebrate it. :) I usually make the distinction that I have the blood not that I am. I know some full bloods get offended but rock on. :P
enjoy your vid. my grandmother on my mom's side is 1/2 cherokee from georgia and on my fathers side my g-ma is full blood cherokee from south carolina..so i am one of those blks who yup is part cherokee..lol..
Yá'át'ééhm, I really love what your doing here,i am part native american and african american also, and i will keep checking you out on youtube.......bee'ak'ihojidlihii,and Ahe'hee.
i don't see whats the matter with it Native americans was smart enough to have sex with africans so that their futher generation can be immuned to the "White man disease:"
I'm with you on the one drop rule thing i don't say i"m just black because my grandfather was Irish an native American an people be like you can't say that and i say yes i can because that's the broth that make's me who i am an i go on to say obviously with out it i wouldn't be here talking to you now would i lol......
cool im black african and i am going to have a half native half black kid but my african parents are mad so i have to take it to africa without the father and since the rules are different in africa he cant sue me cus the baby is born in another country and my parents are going to raise it so i have no control over it
This is really confusing for someone, who is Indo Canadian, or rather..."Indian" roots, from India. I thought I was the Indian :P Stumbled upon your video looking for blacks in India, also known as.....Black...Indians : | (And yes, there are some"black" Indians (very few) who were taken to India as slaves and they have been there for centuries. They have adopted the Indian culture, language, customs, etc. It's cool!) Thanks for sharing your story; DNA test would shed more light in history
@ecoseeds Technically, Indians are from India and Native Americans are from the Americas (North, Central and South America). Thank you for stopping by.
blackfoot(peigan or pikuni) are not indigeneous to the east coast. they are in the montana region and historically never mixed with us blacks. i know people from south carolina who swear by it but have norelatives in montana.most people who claim cherokee in north carolina but could actually be lumbee from lumberton.(just to use an example) blackfoot were named so from the whites because of the black paint they wore as a sign of a victorious battle or raid . not because they were a black tribe.
OMG! You're from Southern, VA and you have family from North Carolina!? Can we be related!? PM me! :D
Apparently, from family stories, I'm Sioux-Blackfoot and Cherokee. And yes, I was told that I have ancestors from the Dakotas, so it might just very well be true.
And you're right! You shouldn't claim just one. If you wanna say what you are, but it's true.
How do you trace your native american ancestry cause I am trying to apply for my indian card. my great grand dad was a full blooded native american who married african.
@wildluxy Family Geneology is important. It can be tricky, but not impossible. I am still searching the land and vital statistic records for my family as well. Soon, I will get a DNA Test for personal reasons. Good Luck.
Hi I share your thoughts. I am African American/ Native American and Cuban. My father was born in Cuba (his grandmother was a native Indian on that island) and my mother was born In North Carolina with her mother and grandmother (who was Native American- Cherokee) I know this as a fact because when my grandmother, my mother's mother died in 1980 I meet my Native relatives who came off of the reservation to the funeral. I asked my mother who they were and she said they were my relatives.
Power to you my sister! I think it is wonderful that you are reclaiming your birthrite. The veil has been lifted in many ways for me. I am now looking at much family history with very different eyes.
I am glad so glad that you touch basis on this topic. I am African American of Cuban Ancestry my fathers family originated from the Caribbean islands of Havana Cuba. I agree with you with the one drop rule. people have to educate themselves when it comes to Afro American History.
My grandfather's mom was half blackfeet and his grandfather was irish. so It's true alot of blacks are mixed with both native american and european. But I would love to know what tribe of africa my ancestors are from.
I'm not embarresd about African features everyone is trying to get the full lips and shapely bottom that we naturally have. I don't need to prve anything to anyone. My mother has a picture if my great grand mother in her full native american regalia.I know I'm not european but I do have Asian ancestry(Hinidi Indian).
i wana find out mi full heritage and the only thing i know is that my great grandfather was blackfoot..east coast blackfoot to be exact lol most likely frm NC
so yea i wana get in tune wit eveeerything that makes up my "black" heritage.. the african, european, native american and watever tha hell else i am lol
you could have white in you and not indian because, many blacks lied to there children about it so a lot of black americans are really half white, not indian
@egyptiansareblack26 My mother did not lie to me. She has white blood and did not deny that. Her father practiced native medicine and was mostly Chicasaw native American from Louisianna some black and white but looked native. Her mother looked Native American but had curly hair she was mostly Muscogee creek with black and white. My father is black native american and white. I look black to some mixed to others but I like many African-Americans I do not look like a full blooded African.
Yes, look at both sides. Don't play that old white man game. Yes not all blacks have Native American. And i am of Cherokee and some Blackfeet as well.
You are one of the MOST ignorant people i've ever come across in life. "You must have one mixed grandparent to be considered mixed?" VERY ignorant comment. Thats obviously NOT true. You must be one hell of a doorstop.
you make it seem like it not OK for black people to say that they or natives iam 100% native American and i have a lot of friend that of black and native and they have Cherokee in them me to you make it seem bad
really?? what tribe are you enrolled with?? im sick of everyone claiming somthing that i hold so dear and would fight to keep my culture alive! your probally cherokee lol blackfoot ( dont confuse with blackFEET sioux ) im Tlingit eagle clan Wolf house enrolled and get funded through my tribe so please cut the bull-shit.... do you even know the strugles of our people coastel or plains??
@BlackAmericanIndia Wait a minute, what is the problem with her claiming her native side. Have you forgotten that a lot of Natives served side by side during slavery? Have you ever seen the Pequots, wampanoag, Narrangansett, etc? As far as the Cherokee thing is concerned, Cherokees were some of the biggest slave owners around. Whites weren't the only ones who raped, so if someone says Cherokee, think about it.
on my mothers side my grandmothers mom was Cherokee and pensylvania dutch and her fater was liberian.. my grandpa is Trinidadian mixed with african and asian and arawak .... on my dads side my grandma is Bahamian and Dominican and theres african Taino Carib indian and Spanish/French... and my grandpa is African American... alot of my family live in Barbados and ive been there growing up hence my name
@Afroindian0pride8 people always think you have to have to have the high cheek bones and the long staight hair to be consider native its like chris tucker and oprah they dont look like your stereotype of a native but they do have native ancestry
I consider myself multiracial, of African, Irish and Native American ancestry, though im not sure of what native american tribe exactly. I plan on finding out and doing a whole geneology thing because I really would like to know exactly. My family, looks various different ways, some look black, some look white, some look like something else all together. I look black, i take after my dads family, but my mom looks hispanic, though shes mixed. I embrace all that I am.
being Native American is not only based on your blood quantum but based on your beliefs. I know some full blooded Natives that are so far from their culture and some that have very little blood quantum but are very spiritual. You are only as Native as much as you want to be.
My mind set is EXACTLY like yours. I am also black and native american and I eknowledge both sides of my heritage. I sometimes say I'm native american when Im asked my ethnicity, I sometimes say im Black and I sometimes say Im both. There are people that say, i can tell by your hair and eyes but why are you so dark. And i tell them that I am mixed. A lot of people have the mindset that you have to be lighter complected but they forget that Africans are darker.
Why are SOME native americans so offended that our ancestors fucked each other? They are like NOOOOO you look black, you're not native. Most of them don't jump up & down and whine about the lily looking white people who claim to be Native American. I think a lot of them just want a pat on the head from white people. Psst. I wonder how thatll work out for them. Anyways, I know some N.A that say the same, if you've got one drop of N.A blood you're one of them too You can be MORE than one "culture"
@trulytatum YES THAT IS SO TRUE! THEY HAVE BEEN INDOCTRINATED BY THE WHITE MAN AND SOME OF THEM ARE BRAINWASHED TO LOOK DOWN ON US BUT ACCEPT THEM WITH OPEN ARMS. SMH THEY ARE QUICK AS HELL TO ACCEPT THE HEATHER LOCKLEAR, CARRIE UNDERWOOD LOOKING NATIVES BUT WANNA DENY THE BLACK ONES
@oohkillertofu First of all Natives are Natives ,Natives are not mixed breeds .
Black people jump around like idiot's and are so happy when they discover they have Native ancestry . But at the same time when you know you have White blood most of you people aren't too thrilled or happy about it . White people alway's get blamed for slavery but Native Americans owned black slaves too and not one black man or woman condemns them for slavery!
@Jessica123333333 DID ANYONE SAY NATIVES ARE MIXED? U PROVE MY POINT, U SOUND RACIST AS HELL U SOUND LIKE ONE OF THOSE NATIVE PEOPLE THAT ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE WHITES W/ NATIVE ANCESTRY BUT NOT BLACKS. SORRY BUT NOTHING YOU SAID HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TOPIC. IM MORE PROUD TO BE BLACK THAN ANYTHING ELSE BUT I DO ACKNOWLEDGE MY OTHER HERITAGE SO GET OVER IT. YOU JUST WANT THAT PAT ON YOUR HEAD FROM WHITE PEOPLE
@JakeyBadSnakey ha ha I'm being sacarstic. SHUT UP. lol

I refuse to tell people my race because its such a negative stereotype to be the "african with native american blood", It really bothers me people always ask me what race I'm mixed with, I say I'm not mixed.
pistolkrystle 8 months ago
@pistolkrystle - I agree with you 100%. Every time someone who appears to be just "Black," and mention that they're decedents of Native Americans, you're automatically called a liar! When it's obvious Black & Native Americans did mix together. It's ignorance, so I don't say it either. I just say, I'm American unless I'm asked about my Native genes.

anyways , it's not just politically correct. So, what would africans call an native with some black blood - indian black? if your half/native it doesn't matter if ur white or black.your still a half/blood.i can see u don't understand nothing about being a half/blood as u still think ur a black. if u claim that , y post a vid about being part this or that? that is hypocritical.
interstellarwonder 9 months ago
i think using the word 'black indian' is wrong. native ppl are in opposition to the word 'INDIAN', i wonder y u don't know that. plus i never hear anyone say they are a ' white indian' . u get me?
interstellarwonder 9 months ago
@interstellarwonder I got you. Indian is politically incorrect in some circles. I did not mean any insult to those who are offended by the term "Indian" or "Black Indian". Personally, I do not care about white people who are decendants of Indigenous Americans and choose not to call themselves "White Indians". Technically, Indians are from "India". Yes, I get it.

maybe so, but there are too many imposters, they are just trying to protect their tribal culture and national identity nothing wrong with that if majority of these folk took DNA test they would be salty..and that natuve american DNA may in fact just be some sort of european...but the numbers are low...because there arent even over 3 million native americans in the US
celph414 9 months ago
@ blaclandindia? you may be native american and only native americans, real ones can identify you as one of them either by blood or by documents but rest asure you things are gonna change because many want to weed out the leechers and those who are not of blood..

@Gainerpup313
Yes freedmen were slaves to natives(5 civilized tribes) most are not authentic native americans sure there are some who mixed and those i would consider...native americans have the right dictate who is a true native and who is not 1/4 native is a good indicator.
many true native americans do not consider those who are native by association and not by blood to be true native americans..
celph414 9 months ago
@Gainerpup313
most of those people are not part taino you lumping everyone<-- in one categorie thats the common misconception IN PR is mostly white, mullato.... the black population is about 10%... individually they are not all part taino.. about 27% of the island as a whole is of african/Yoruba ancestry
celph414 9 months ago
@Gainerpup313
this is false and those are countries..those countris you listed have black people obviously and other races too

ProphetGuardian 1 year ago
@ProphetGuardian you people lied to us so many times what makes you think im gonna believe you know lol nobody cares about race anymore its you that still wants racism to exist because if you really were not racist you would not steal and lie about having someone else's race and bring race up all the fukking time you are a piece of shit all of you African Americans what proof do you have i have the best doc on blacks having no ties with native Americans and i have DNA proof show me your proof
borneo215 1 year ago 2
@borneo215 You people?! I have not told you any lie and I'm not part of any group trying to claiming to be Native Americans. What I saying is that there are a percentage of African Americans who have Native American ancestry. I'm not saying all African Americans have Native American ancestry or it makes you a Native American if you do have Native American ancestry.
ProphetGuardian 1 year ago
@ProphetGuardian wow a large portion of whites have native ancestry so what? did you even bother looking at my video it shows you all you need to know and the info is from a proud African American so you cant make bullshit like hes white hes giving false info.. Just look at the video it has all you need to know about what i'm trying to tell you don't hate me because i tell truth why are you so upset im telling the truth? JUST LOOK AT THE VIDEO ITS IN MY CHANNEL IT WILL SHOW YOU THE TRUTH!!
borneo215 1 year ago
@borneo215 I am not upset nor do I hate you. Actually I seen your videos multiple times. I actually watched it on PBS when it first aired. I never said he was giving false info. You title the video "Blacks Are Not Natives" which is redundant because Blacks aren't natives nor do they claim to be. The clip was about Blacks having or not having Native American ancestry. 1-20 Blacks have Native American ancestry so not everyone is falsely claim Native American ancestry.
ProphetGuardian 1 year ago
@ProphetGuardian exactly i in fukkin 20 that is nothing compared to the whole population of America so why do you all claim to be a native just be hones please why do you guys i have seen so any videos and people telling me olmecs were blacks and the blacks came and enslaved us and teach us how to build empires and shit like that. just go on youtube and watch all the videos then come to me saying blacks don't claim every race!!
borneo215 1 year ago
@borneo215 Not everyone is claiming to have Native American ancestry as most black people don't care. The Olmecs is a completely different topic from what we were originally discussing. This is different from being black and having a ancestor who was Native American. This is mainly an Afrocentric thing and doesn't reflect the thinking and beliefs majority of Black people. Explaining this would be hard as you'll hear different theory's and beliefs concerning "Olmecs being black"
ProphetGuardian 1 year ago
@ProphetGuardian yh sure black people dont care well all the people iv seen claim native or indigenous people are black? now how can that be if they don't care now im guessing you are a black person? defending your black race and not stating truth instead trying to make believe nice try tho i couldn't care less about what you say you write as if your some fukkin professor i bet in real life you are a retard who don't know shit if black people dont care about it why are you here talking bullshit?
borneo215 1 year ago
@borneo215 First of the majority of Black folks pay no attention to Native American or Indigenous people. Being Indian is not at the top of their to do list. Just because you see a few youtube videos with Afrocentrics claiming Olmecs are black doesn't mean every Black person thinks this way. You are complaining about less than .000001% of Black people and throwing in billions of other Black people who never even heard of an Olmec before in their lives. Stop generalizing an entire race of people.
ProphetGuardian 1 year ago 8
I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE FUKKIN VIDEO SHOWING OTHER RACES CLAIMING SO MUCH YET LOOKING SO STUPID
borneo215 1 year ago
@borneo215 Your just fishing for an argument. Like I seriously believed everyone has black in them until now. Be honest are you just using me as an outlet for your anger at specific black person? I have never posted a video or comment, or even thought along the lines of Black people having enslaving the Chinese, and Native Americans. Or even saying the Chinese or Native American were/ are Black. It seem your falsely accusing me of some outrageous, quite laughable stuff.

I have native ancestry. My family is registered with the Cherokee Nation. I don't care for the opinions of others when it comes to my ancestry... it's not about pinpointing a percentage of Native American ancestry and focusing on it.
Mizzac 1 year ago
Its said 1-20 Black people have Native American Ancestry. I heard it on a Henry Louis gates special. I'm not sure about those stats, because they only check maternal lineage so a lot of your ancestry is being missed out on when they do the DNA test. I was told my great great grandfather was Blackfoot. I don't really claim NA ancestry because that culture doesn't seem like something I'd claim as my own.
ProphetGuardian 1 year ago 2

They have ancillary rolls however for people who are of descent but aren't enough to be enrolled.
arrein88 1 year ago
I was responding to someones comments that Native Americans don't accept Black people or get offended by a Black person claiming descent from their tribe and not with White people. I just wanted to comment that isn't necessarily true. There are lots of people of mixed descent on the Oneida, and Menominee reservations with Black, Mexican, and White. You have to be at least a quarter however to be considered Native by the government or considered for enrollment.
arrein88 1 year ago
I wanted to say that Native Americans get offended by people claiming to be Native American when they aren't enrolled in a tribe, have a Cherokee princess story,or make up a tribe that doesn't exist. This goes for White and Black people who claim descent from Native Americans. These comments are usually accompanied by some ignorant statement like that is why I turn red from staying out in the sun or why the bottom of my hands are red. I have even gotten that's why my roots are dark .
arrein88 1 year ago
I am also black and Native with Irish. I'm just curious. It is rare to find a lot of others who are authenticly of Native blood. I have Choctaw ancestry. My great grandmother lived on a reservation, she was Choctaw and she married a black man. I'm still trying to research. I also get really angry when people assume we don't know what we're talking about. I like that you can trace your ancestry that far back. That's pretty cool.

TreScotts1Fan 1 year ago
@TreScotts1Fan If your great grandmother was 100% native then by the time it gets down to you its only 12.5% . In the Native tribes and also the government eyes you have to be at least 1/4 for other Natives and also the government to accept you as Native. That would mean at least one of your grand parents would have to be native not one of your great grand parents. So the Natives and the government would look at you as not quite making the cut. But shit, feel free to celebrate that 12.5%

Power to you my sister! I think it is wonderful that you are reclaiming your birthrite. The veil has been lifted in many ways for me. I am now looking at much family history with very different eyes.

I don't understand why everyone wants to be Native American.
No race is better than the others except for one race. The golden race. And anyone can be a part of that race. It's a state of mind.
My people need to be more accepting and not so rejecting. What happened to compassion?

@MizzezJaxon I am very curious about my african ancestors...it would be a trip if my african ancestors were not west african.

MiszMoss010 1 year ago
you could have white in you and not indian because, many blacks lied to there children about it so a lot of black americans are really half white, not indian
egyptiansareblack26 1 year ago

@ubloom3 I am not "enrolled" in a tribe and carry a tribal card. I carry the blood.
BlackAmericanIndia 1 year ago 7
@BlackAmericanIndia Wait a minute, what is the problem with her claiming her native side. Have you forgotten that a lot of Natives served side by side during slavery? Have you ever seen the Pequots, wampanoag, Narrangansett, etc? As far as the Cherokee thing is concerned, Cherokees were some of the biggest slave owners around. Whites weren't the only ones who raped, so if someone says Cherokee, think about it.

@Afroindian0pride8 people always think you have to have to have the high cheek bones and the long staight hair to be consider native its like chris tucker and oprah they dont look like your stereotype of a native but they do have native ancestry
TheBeautifulblackgrl 1 year ago
I consider myself multiracial, of African, Irish and Native American ancestry, though im not sure of what native american tribe exactly. I plan on finding out and doing a whole geneology thing because I really would like to know exactly. My family, looks various different ways, some look black, some look white, some look like something else all together. I look black, i take after my dads family, but my mom looks hispanic, though shes mixed. I embrace all that I am.
Evonne77 1 year ago
being Native American is not only based on your blood quantum but based on your beliefs. I know some full blooded Natives that are so far from their culture and some that have very little blood quantum but are very spiritual. You are only as Native as much as you want to be.
nightsinger100 1 year ago
My mind set is EXACTLY like yours. I am also black and native american and I eknowledge both sides of my heritage. I sometimes say I'm native american when Im asked my ethnicity, I sometimes say im Black and I sometimes say Im both. There are people that say, i can tell by your hair and eyes but why are you so dark. And i tell them that I am mixed. A lot of people have the mindset that you have to be lighter complected but they forget that Africans are darker.
getsilly094 1 year ago 2
Why are SOME native americans so offended that our ancestors fucked each other? They are like NOOOOO you look black, you're not native. Most of them don't jump up & down and whine about the lily looking white people who claim to be Native American. I think a lot of them just want a pat on the head from white people. Psst. I wonder how thatll work out for them. Anyways, I know some N.A that say the same, if you've got one drop of N.A blood you're one of them too You can be MORE than one "culture"
trulytatum 1 year ago 7
@trulytatum I say, if you accept the culture and the ways of that culture, you're one of them.
TheAnticipation16 1 year ago
@trulytatum YES THAT IS SO TRUE! THEY HAVE BEEN INDOCTRINATED BY THE WHITE MAN AND SOME OF THEM ARE BRAINWASHED TO LOOK DOWN ON US BUT ACCEPT THEM WITH OPEN ARMS. SMH THEY ARE QUICK AS HELL TO ACCEPT THE HEATHER LOCKLEAR, CARRIE UNDERWOOD LOOKING NATIVES BUT WANNA DENY THE BLACK ONES
oohkillertofu 1 year ago
@oohkillertofu First of all Natives are Natives ,Natives are not mixed breeds .
Black people jump around like idiot's and are so happy when they discover they have Native ancestry . But at the same time when you know you have White blood most of you people aren't too thrilled or happy about it . White people alway's get blamed for slavery but Native Americans owned black slaves too and not one black man or woman condemns them for slavery!
Jessica123333333 1 year ago
YOU JUST WANT THAT PAT ON YOUR HEAD FROM WHITE PEOPLE
oohkillertofu 1 year ago
@Jessica123333333 Let's get something straight: EUROPEANS brought slavery to the N.A. continent.
