  • The Matrix can't tell who you are!

  • @guywithlove Boogerman?

  • love the classic Sonic The Hedgehog!!! my favorite game

  • omg Ringside Angel :S

  • @pixelfox237 Not a fan? Fond memories for me... :)

  • Voltei no tempo de criança!

  • Funny, it was The Super Shinobi in Japan, but got renamed Revenge Of Shinobi in the US. I played a lot of those games. I'd have to say Toejam & Earl and Castle Of Illusion were my favorites of that set. Altered Beast & Golden Axe were some other greats from that time period. Wish this was still the early 1990s. Things were much better back then as far as I am concerned.

  • @prodigyofpeace1983 Yeah it was Revenge of Shinobi in the UK also, I actually prefer that name to Super Shinobi to be honest.

I agree the early 90's was a special time to be a gamer, at least the memories are there :)

  • @ianwilson1978 Very true man, very true. Seems like the chose Super in Japan to compete with Super Mario and later Super Nintendo's Super everything title, lol! Damn gimmicks, lol! Thanks for the posts, Ian.

  • Are you actually japanese yourself? I based that on that you only used the japanese Mega Drive covers. One of my biggest favourites ever is Castle of Illusion. Thanks for the uploads!

    Big thanks from Sweden! =D

  • @Sarato Thanks for the comment, I'm not Japanese but always loved the artwork on the Japanese games- it really cant be beaten! Castle of Illusion is a classic :)

  • I still love that Sonic music. Brings back memories of me playing my Sega Genesis.

  • Yeah after a few seconds of hearing the Sonic tune all the memories just flood back eh- its like being back in the day! :-)

  • love the music for ghouls and ghosts. capcom certainly have some talent going for them. great video as always Ian

  • Yeah that one holds special memories- iconic tune! :-)

  • something about this video screams awesome!!! keep it up mate

  • Lol cheers mate!! :-D

  • You know some people don't like the audio chip on the Mega Drive, but when it's used well, it's pretty amazing.

  • Exactly, this video just goes to show that! :-)

  • Nice vid Ian, must have taken alot of work

  • Kim- it took hours and hours! Over two nights work. Very pleased with the result though! :-D

  • Damn thats alot of work, but in the end it became sweet.

I hope that you dont use movie maker?

try pinnacle studio 12, its musch faster and easier to work with

  • Windows Movie Maker yeah! Is pinnacle free or do you have to pay? :-)

  • Megadrive was the best console ever, had the best games and the best music.

It was a console for arcade gamers, sega was the best, and gaming was much more humble back in those days, megadrive was a pick up and play console. But in most games today you have to do a 40 minute tutorial before you can actually play a game. I miss those old days of gaming.

  • Couldnt agree more! Hence the reason my channel is devoted to the MD, the best console ever... :-D

  • Great video mate loved the music the most (where can you download them tunes?) There are some great MD games arent there! - Even though I ama a SNES fanbiy!! ha ha

Cheers for sharing those with us mate ;o)

  • Check the link at the bottom of the description mate. :-)

  • Oh right cool mate, will have to get some of those tunes! ;o)

  • :O WHERES SHINOBI ;-(

  • Great tribute vid, Ian!! Very cool slideshow..! Fav-ting this to remind me I still need to get a MD :P Also, the JP box design/artwork are so much superior don't you think?

  • Yes completely agree Phat, it would be cool if you do get an MD sometime :-)

  • Thanks for this excellent video :-)

  • Thanks :-)

  • This video really brings back good old memories. I'm already looking forward to the next video :)

  • Thank You :-)

  • some absolute classics that i'd totally forgotten thanks for the nostalgia trip :)

  • No problem- glad you enjoyed it! :-)

  • really good stuff Ian, brings a tear to my eye! working on something similar actually :)

  • Yeah its 10 minutes of pure memories mate! I'll keep an eye out for yours :-)

  • Hey excellent video ian 5 stars like always mate! Just a quick one what do you prefere best toe jam & earl 1 or 2?

  • Believe it or not I havent played the 2nd one!! But I hear its not as good as the original. I'll be picking it up to see for myself :-)

  • See i am the opposite i had toe jam & earl 2 panic on funkatron when i was a child and absolutely loved the game, so bloody origina lfor a platformer. But i never got round to playing the 1st one. I think it was partly the look of it. The graphics never looked quite as appealing as number 2 for me.

  • Yeah I've noticed the graphics are quite nice on the second one mate, if its got the charm and playability of the first then I'll be happy when I come to play it :-)

  • Nice love note to the Megadrive Ian.

  • Indeed! :-)

  • great vid brother, awesome music as well :)

  • Thanks Pete- some epics tunes here. They really were some talented people working on the MD back then. :-)

  • I love how the music for the games is so iconic as well, as soon as you here the music for SOR or mickey mouse you can name the game :)

  • Exactly mate- they'll never be forgotten those games! :-)

  • 16bit is by far the best era of gaming in my opinion :)

  • Without question :-)

  • Yes I have to agree - I was an 8bit boy (And an "alot less than that boy"! Started on the Vic 20!). I think the 16bit era had the best of both the Arcade World doing its stuff & being brought home to Sega and Nintendo and the introduction of really powerful PC's - i.e the Amiga and the ST - these were the first personal computers to really show what could be achieved.. Consoles and computers had alot in common too - they shared many games & ideas.

  • Yeah I had both a Megadrive and Amiga back in the day and loved them both. The Amiga offered different experiences such as Monkey Island, Championship Manager etc..

Still got my A600 bagged up in the games room, will set it up sometime! :-)

  • nice video man.

  • Thank you mate :-)

  • Good stuff mate. I should do a similar video to this at some point.

  • It took a long time but I enjoyed doing it :-)

  • Toejam & Earl - What a Classic! (searches Ebay)

  • Lol its a great game! I've got a mint copy but cartridge doesnt work (tried everything its knackered) so I'll be looking myself! :-)

  • This video makes you realise that there were some really talented music composers making music for the Megadrive, cool retrospective.

  • This is what I was thinking when making the video mate- the MD come really pump out the tune despite what people think! :-)

  • Excellent video.

  • Thank you mate :-)

  • Me will stay tune into the mega drive you tube channel.Me wait to one day watch your video review on Bare Knuckle 3 and Golden Axe 3 in your collection Ian.Those 2 games are best on mega drive

  • Looking forward to getting those 2 games mate, I'll be sure to put up vids! :-)

  • Mega Drive Golden Axe have 2 extra stages in game than the arcade Golden Axe.Mega Drive games still awesome to play these days.

  • Totally agree Ryan! :-)

  • Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure. You can never show enough of that game in my opinion. Brilliant. There's a playthrough of it on the ChronoSaber channel :-)

  • It's just superb isnt it! Everything about it is classic! Wouldnt mind giving it another playthrough actually :-)

  • Good stuff man straight up old school lol

  • Retrotastic! :-)

  • Great vid!

  • Thanks! Took some effort (!) but was worth it :-)

  • SEGA!

  • To be this good takes ages- to be this good take sega! lol :-D

  • Well done mate! You've put alot of effort into it. 5/5'd and favored. :)

  • Thanks Cessna, your right- a LOT (!) of effort went into this one! Probably more than any vid I've done yet to be honest! Loved watching it back though :-)

  • I hope you got some rest afterwards mate. Sega should starting paying you a fee. :)

  • No, I didn't play that game. I'll have to try it out sometime.

  • It was by EA- cracking game mate you should check it out :-)

  • Nostalgia ... great isn't it? It is the fuel to my passion for gaming.
