Funny, it was The Super Shinobi in Japan, but got renamed Revenge Of Shinobi in the US. I played a lot of those games. I'd have to say Toejam & Earl and Castle Of Illusion were my favorites of that set. Altered Beast & Golden Axe were some other greats from that time period. Wish this was still the early 1990s. Things were much better back then as far as I am concerned.
@ianwilson1978 Very true man, very true. Seems like the chose Super in Japan to compete with Super Mario and later Super Nintendo's Super everything title, lol! Damn gimmicks, lol! Thanks for the posts, Ian.
Are you actually japanese yourself? I based that on that you only used the japanese Mega Drive covers. One of my biggest favourites ever is Castle of Illusion. Thanks for the uploads!
@Sarato Thanks for the comment, I'm not Japanese but always loved the artwork on the Japanese games- it really cant be beaten! Castle of Illusion is a classic :)
Megadrive was the best console ever, had the best games and the best music.
It was a console for arcade gamers, sega was the best, and gaming was much more humble back in those days, megadrive was a pick up and play console. But in most games today you have to do a 40 minute tutorial before you can actually play a game. I miss those old days of gaming.
Great video mate loved the music the most (where can you download them tunes?) There are some great MD games arent there! - Even though I ama a SNES fanbiy!! ha ha
Great tribute vid, Ian!! Very cool slideshow..! Fav-ting this to remind me I still need to get a MD :P Also, the JP box design/artwork are so much superior don't you think?
See i am the opposite i had toe jam & earl 2 panic on funkatron when i was a child and absolutely loved the game, so bloody origina lfor a platformer. But i never got round to playing the 1st one. I think it was partly the look of it. The graphics never looked quite as appealing as number 2 for me.
Yeah I've noticed the graphics are quite nice on the second one mate, if its got the charm and playability of the first then I'll be happy when I come to play it :-)
Yes I have to agree - I was an 8bit boy (And an "alot less than that boy"! Started on the Vic 20!). I think the 16bit era had the best of both the Arcade World doing its stuff & being brought home to Sega and Nintendo and the introduction of really powerful PC's - i.e the Amiga and the ST - these were the first personal computers to really show what could be achieved.. Consoles and computers had alot in common too - they shared many games & ideas.
Yeah I had both a Megadrive and Amiga back in the day and loved them both. The Amiga offered different experiences such as Monkey Island, Championship Manager etc..
Still got my A600 bagged up in the games room, will set it up sometime! :-)
Me will stay tune into the mega drive you tube channel.Me wait to one day watch your video review on Bare Knuckle 3 and Golden Axe 3 in your collection Ian.Those 2 games are best on mega drive
Magical Flying Hat Turbo Adventure. You can never show enough of that game in my opinion. Brilliant. There's a playthrough of it on the ChronoSaber channel :-)
Thanks Cessna, your right- a LOT (!) of effort went into this one! Probably more than any vid I've done yet to be honest! Loved watching it back though :-)

@prodigyofpeace1983 Yeah it was Revenge of Shinobi in the UK also, I actually prefer that name to Super Shinobi to be honest.
I agree the early 90's was a special time to be a gamer, at least the memories are there :)
