i have a ENV2 but i did the same thing except put my phones number name and it worked and it really helps now think u i didnt think of doin that untill this video
if you live in a place that doesnt get a lot of service it's better to turn the EVDO off because it drains your battery trying to find the EVDO service, and thanks for the help, been trying to figure this out
exactly. I live in pretty much a ravine, and its hard enough to pick up 1X signal, which is why i went about finding this out. But yeah, if your in a place where both signals are strong, the improvement is minimal
Ok the EVDO antenna isn't just for the get it now stuff. EVDO is the standard for high speed wireless broadband. So if you plan on using the internet on your phone, which for only 99 cents a day for unlimited access is not bad, you probably do not want to turn this feature off. It actually doesn't drain that much battery, think maybe less then 1%.
i dont see it mentioned, but i had to redo this after updating my PRL. i updated it last week and all of a sudden my battery seemed like crap, noticed the EVDO on & redid this.
im not exactly sure, but ive heard that the process is the same for most LG phones, dont hold me to this but all you have to do is change the last 4 numbers to fit your phone model. So the chocolate was the vx8550, hence the 8550 in the last part of the number you dial. So given the env is a vx9900, the number should be ##77647269900. If it doesnt work, google it!
what it does is turns off the antenna that is used mainly for Verizon's Get it Now service (downloading ringtones, wallpapers, videos, applications) that apart from just using free trails any budget-conscious person never uses. Turning off the antenna causes the phone to use less power and results in a longer battery charge.
thanks so much for that video i really needed. i was lookin all over for how to do that. thanks!

This wont work on my phone. I just bought it, and when I push all those numbers and push "send" it tries to call the number.
Also, if I go to menu and push "0" nothing happens.
Any tips?
VenatusDeus1 3 years ago
is it a chocolate (vx8550) or another type?
sl1solo7622 3 years ago
an easier idea would be to go to main menu and press 00000 , =\
idiot
u dont need to call any number
stevoscape 3 years ago
1- that doesn't work
2- number one pretty much says it....
sl1solo7622 3 years ago

chrisdoggunit38 3 years ago
I was freaking out cause it wasn't working on my ENv.... but all you have to do is open it up to main screen for it to work.

Does this keep you from getting picture/video messages or talking on the phone?
fefner192 3 years ago
Ive been able to send both text/pic messages with it off, and assuming video is transferred over the same protocol id guess that would work too
sl1solo7622 3 years ago
Does this work for a variety of phones? Like a EN-V or any of the other newer ones. That EV drove me crazy too. Thanks

does it give you a better signal?

nope, just turns off the EVDO antenna. Your regular (1x) antenna stays exactly the same.
