People slate this guy because he shred, and uses loads of distortion reverb and delay, but im sure he didnt go hey lets make shredding easyier by doing that, he put the effects and distortion on and thought I like this tone, which he does have a good tone, so people cant have a go at him because he has a good tone, and shreds.

watch Gustavo Guerra's Point finger on his left hand i think thats what he uses to mute the other strings when his doing the bends and vibratos and also d way his left hand tackles the strings and he uses the four fingers to mute the strings whenever he can plus the way his right finger does the picking i think thats why he plays so absolutely clean,amazing and one of a kind player that kind of skill takes time to practise, playing fast is a great skill but playing cleanly fast is even greater

@SAK47RAMANIAX You're both right and wrong... Gustavo has some of the fluidest and accurate fingers among the top guitarist, so I can assure you his tone has nothing to do with how he shreds. However, reverb and distortion/delay can effectively cover up your sloppiness by giving you more room for error, but if you have a good guitar ear, you can hear the solidity of each note. There's only so much effects can do until you need actual skill. Gustavo = clean

i think it is for his equipment, something like noise gate, i dont know, but i know that some pedals have a configuration of frecuences that you want eliminate, so it is i think

Noise gates basically work by eliminating the signal when it is below a desired volume.

They can get rid of the quiet 'hum' from the guitar but unwanted string noise should be dealt with palm muting and delicate string release.

A noise gate might not be what your looking for but it's worth experimenting.

If you use a compressor on a noise gated signal, that produces a much higher fidelity sound generally...

Mute open strings with a hair bow. If you are tapping, it seems to be popular to mute overhand with the fret hand while tapping on the right. I like to mute with my right hand and play legato with my left hand (the way Satch does Mystical Potato Head Grove Thing). But permanent fix is to wrap the hair bow over the neck and keep the volume down just a tad so you don't need a gate.

Well, if you're referring to his legato technique, then he IS muting the strings with his picking hand. Part of the legato technique involves dampening the strings you're NOT playing with the side of your palm and/or your fingers. ;-)

Besides, you can see it if you watch Gustavo's right hand closely.
