TF fans should be grateful some mad designer at Takara came up with the ideas of Transforming cars which lead to Hasbro working with Takara and market them as Transformers
Transformers like cartoons and toys was very big in Asia in the 1980's way before Transformers hit the screens in 1984
If you want to be truthful its the Japanese who should be getting credit for the success of Transformers
And if you look carefully in the 0:22-0:25. you'll see "socket rails" and all of the toys (Sunstreaker, IronHide, Clampdown, Ratchet and Trailbreaker) attached to the rails, these are studio tools, and i'm not sure if these techniques still remain taught in Japan.
And at that time I believe no one noticed this studio tricks, and i don't think kids cares either. as long as the toy moves, it attracks them
You could break the time space continum! Before you know it, the changes will cause everyone to become oldspice! Then all the old spice will combine together and become a weird space crab! and...the....uhhh...my hand will turn into...megatron...and....then ill be omega supreme....and...What was I saying, again?
the history of the transformer toys continues to amaze me... as a kid i remember seeing transformer toys of different colors but had no clue why they were like that...
Was Skids ever featured even once in the cartoon? I remember he had a minor role in the comics, even had an entire issue dedicated to him fighting Megsy in one issue.
The original "Bluestreak" was never released as is in the US, just all silver. Very, very rare toy if you can find it in the original Diaclone package!!

@ratchide The Japanese police Lambour is later relased as CLAMP DOWN, while the red Tracks became Road Rage

@DiscothecaImperialis Clamp Down is the repaint of Red Alert. That red Honda City in this commercial is the red version of Crosscut.
