It's called hypothyroidism and if it goes on untreated for a long enough time, yes, rapid weight gain can happen. My sister and I BOTH HAVE IT. My case isn't as severe as hers because it was diagnosed early on, and i was able to control it. she wasn't. I would know considering i did so much working out and dieting with her just to help her. I'm not making excuses for anyone

Denial isn't just a river in egypt. Every fat person i've ever met says that they 'barely eat a thing' and that they 'just gain weight for no reason'. just so you know, this is a disease, not laziness. She literally can't get up because she can't hold herself up. There are some people who just can't lose weight. I have a relative like this. She used to be in martial arts! She got all the way to a third degree, she ate like a mouse, and she just kept gaining weight. Not all fat people are lazy. There are some that just gain weight every single day.

@ilovehimvalo3 Sorry, but I do not agree with this. Gaining weight is due to over sized portion sizes and not enough exercise, not particularly from laziness. Please do not babble on about the so called “fat gene” which is an excuse for overweight people and I highly doubt anyone who eats like a mouse becomes obese, that’s how anorexia is caused.

@MzRawrPaw Well, I am talking from experience with my own relatives, so I am not babbling about a "fat gene". It's called hypothyroidism and if it goes on untreated for a long enough time, yes, rapid weight gain can happen. My sister and I BOTH HAVE IT. My case isn't as severe as hers because it was diagnosed early on, and i was able to control it. she wasn't. I would know considering i did so much working out and dieting with her just to help her. I'm not making excuses for anyone

I am just saying that there are still some who really can't help it, like my sister. So before you go judging people for being fat, take a second to realize that you don't know their situation, nor are you in any position to make a judgement.

Also, in case you were wondering what hypothyroidism is, it basically means your thyroid isn't working like it should, which makes breaking down fats and such harder and your metabolism slower. If gone untreated, this gives rapid weight gain. I remember when my sister was first diagnosed with it, she had just gained 60 pounds in like 8 months. sorry for rambling lol

@ivanlagrossemoule as i have stated before, i am well aware that lots of these problems do come from overeating and laziness. I know there are diseases that do make losing weight very difficult, and some of these are both genetic AND induced by poor eating habits. I just don't like that people are judged for being fat, even if you don't know their situation.
