Another great video mate! Ive been using Fl studio for years and have found it very easy to use, as well as meeting my needs, although i might decide to give logic a go soon :) Ive heard some music of yours on your channel, but would love to hear more but coudn't find anything? :L
pc - Samplitude-Sequoia pro / cubase / logic plat / synapse orion.
on the side - soundforge 6-8 / aicd pro 3-5 the cakewalk vst adaptor , wavelab 6 , AAMS , melodyne , Presonis . adobe audition , adobe soundbooth ,
FL studio is crapware in my opinion , its got a horrible sound engine -not professional in my opinion , you want the big sound you use the big tools and a good audio card 24bit/96000 or higher .
Ableton live I found is much better for MIDI sequencing so if you're trying to make Hip Hop beats or electronic music without using live instruments yet, I'd suggest getting Ableton Live. They have a free 30 day trial too.
Love your information; it is changing my whole outlook on my future home studio. Big question: Between ProTools, Logic and Cubase, which of these 3 do you believe that a newbie to this technology could learn in the quickest amount of time, sufficiently to lay down some quality, professional tracks ?
YOu've got some good videos and you definitely know what you're talking about, just you seem to ramble and thusly produce fairly long videos... Not necessarily bad, but it can get boring and also itsn't good when you just want someone to cut to the chase. Great vid though.
Reaper is arguably the best DAW, or one of the best. It's highly flexible and CHEAP, noncommercial licenses are 60 dollars and you get some upgrades with it too for a certain number of updates, I believe also with non-commercial you can pay 60 dollars if you also make less than 20k a year of your recordings, I might be wrong though, it may be it's own license, but it's also VERY affordable, and then there's the commercial one. The pricing is EXTREMELY fair, check it out.
Nice vid but you failed to mention Sonar. I run X1 producer on a win7 64 bit system with a quad core and achieve great results as a novice. It is intuitive , supports vst, has great step recording an supports many formats. I just got a copy of cubase ai with an interface I bought. It looks like a basic daw. My brother uses cubase to record his audio for our podcast " rockin out with Kleetus and sparky" and he sounds great. Check us out on iTunes and podbean free.
@napome Garage band SUCKS for serious editing and recording. It's a toy mostly. For extremely basic things it's fine, but if you think a professional or serious musician should use Garage Band you have a lot to learn.
@Songwriter4God yea i know its basic but its fast and i can open it up in logic for more editing i used pro tools for 13 yrs just don't want to pay for over price plug ins.I know how to get a good sound from it and i known a lot of professional using it rite now i know three major artists that used it
Way off... First of all, Pro Tools and Logic don't support VST. Each has its own plugin format. Second, he forgot to mention that Logic doesn't run on Windows. And third, if you're just getting started, consider the availability and price of entry-level versions. For Logic, the entry-level version is Garage Band (comes on every mac). For Cubase - there's "Cubase Elements" for under $100. On Windows, there's Sonar, with a $40 entry-level version (called "Cakewalk Music Creator"). Very weak video.
if I have cubase and I make a beat and then send it to a studio that has protools will they be able to mix it (make the master)? I learned that from you :) Thanks for the video and your time.
I am planning on getting the TASCAM DP-02 multitrack recorder. What do u think? Should I go for it? (I have pro tools by the way)..Please help me out! haha. THANK YOU!
(contd.) some symphonies some sonatas some electronical work some fusion jazz etc, but I can't get any daw to play it. So I'm kinda stuck. Years of hard work and I can't have anyone hear it because of my troubles finding the right tools. Spent about $2000 on audio software and hardware but still haven't gotten anywhere(kore2 is expensive mind you).
Okay sure, don't blame the tools. I've been using cubase for most of my time as a musician. Composing is simple, vsti's aren't. After four days work on a new project (of a completed composition) I had 30s of "glitchy" audio only using Kore2 as a plug. If I tried incorporating all of my midi data my computer would slowly crash. Had about 4gb ram on that computer and an extarnal soundcard. This has been the case for most of my attempts using daws, I have like 300 completed midi compositions...
Hey i really want to produce, and desing music and i want to know from an expert wich carrer is a good one i was thinking on studying on audio engineer but i am not shure will you help me
Wow! Dude I've got to hand it to you I agree 1000% with you. It's nice to hear someone speak the truth about recording software. It's not the tools that make the job but the user or craftsman that make the tool... I use Cubase 5 and love the setup and it's functions... I will probably never use anything else. Oh and I agree with you on the video "Fake it till you make it" Some people just don't know a diamond even when it cuts them. I saw the negative remarks... Forget the loosers
Good stuff! I am just getting into this. Or I should say....back into it. I took some time off to earn my Keith Richard's merit badge and well....here I am. I wanted to at that there are a lot of freeware daw packages out there too for the beginer or someone who may be on a budget. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Very inspirational! Music is such a gift! peace!!!!!!
I downloaded some multitrack mixing softare - mixpad Audio Mixer v 2.20 NCH Software. However, I seem to having some problems with it as when I record a second track ( I am doing rhythm instruments) the tracks go out of sync. It seems like the origninal is slowing down until it sounds like an echo. Any ideas for what's wrong?
@DavidCamposComposer The "Help" indicates "If you have an external MIDI synthesizer then this will be your best option because the latency is likely to be very low and you will keep good synchronization between your MIDI clips and audio clips. If you do not have an external MIDI device then you can use the built in Microsoft synthesizer. Please note that the built in synthesizer has a significant lag which can make synchronisation difficult." Please translate?? How fix??
