  • im going to see them live at Rockville in Jackonsville, FL. Cant wait!!!!!!

  • They r so good live too!!

  • U guys HAVE to give us a NEW album...Been wayyy too long!!!

  • im a grown damn man and this song brings me to tears still everytime I hear it. What a beautiful message.....

  • what he say before song start can any one tell me it very epic

  • 4:58....epic..................

  • I just know what he's capable of, and I really hope he doesn't lose that.

  • I have to say, from being there in the early days of this band, Brett's voice has taken quite a downhill plunge. Yell at me if you will, but this is the same guy that used to hit notes that made even Simon Cowell blush.

  • @darthxsidious you do know that this is like the first of only like 5 times that they've ever played this song live and videos don't do justice. they had been touring for 3 straight just about cut him some slack. I saw them in 2010 twice and they were amazing!!

  • the girl "feeling" the music says it all...I feel the same way to this song

  • such heart ...awesome man, amazing, voice, extremely handsome!

  • Love this song!

And i'm from Kentucky haha. :D

  • But i have yet to see a performance of his that i think is fail. Brent is the best

  • They toured for 3 years for sound of madness and all that, he was bound to fail at some point, that is alot of strain on the voice

  • are those lyrics they have taped down im not saying anything bad but im just askin

  • The poor guy! Maybe his voice was overworked? I've seen Shinedown perform live and as always their performances are amazing! Brent just must've been tired?

  • Tone deaf? or is something else to blame?

  • ??? this guy's voice (the singer's) in their albums its all computer... he has 2 options... the best would be to take some singing lessons... the second would be to sing in the albums on his pitch and not change the voice with computer an octave above..... I couldnt reach the albums pitch and before i heard him live i used to admire him for his voice... but this guy is so fake in CD... in live he tries SO hard to reach it but he cant......

  • You know what,. This guy has far more talented than you or i can sing alone. As a matter of fact a moron like you who is so judgemental about someone who is far more talented than you wouldnt have the guts to even try to sing as good as him in front of millions of people.

  • @captinoasis49 i've sung so many times in front of a crowd... not so big but "i have the guts" as you say... as for the moron i dont know who is one actually but i didnt say anything bad about you so dont insult me ok? i just said that he shouldnt use a computer on the albums and sing with his voice like soooo many singers do... or he can just have singing lessons and all his problems would be solved and he would have both technique and colour(that he already has....) => one of the best voices..

  • ok sorry. I thought that you meant that he couldn't sing and that it was all computer. pls accept my appolagy

    ( exuse my mis spellings)

  • @captinoasis49 it's ok... i said he has a great voice colour and he has the potential to become one of the best singers... he just doesn't spend some time to make his voice better than it is....

  • yeah ya got a point. ya see, i love shinedown, and i kind of freak out when someone says something even close to bad about Bret. But still, my mother got to meet him and i got to see him at the arena in Youngstown Oh. And it was my first time seeing him and i got blown away by his performance:) :)

  • What a shame, back in his early years Brent was one of the best front men to come to a stage. I am glad to see that he cleaned up and is a family man now. No way am I putting down his vocal ability cause there aren't many good vocalist that can do what he does. Its only back in the day when he was bad into heroin but he actually sang better live and his stage presence was so strong. Still Shinedown is one of the greatest bands out there today!

  • Nothing like being there in person. Love this beautiful song. I can just imagine how different it sounds when one is in the audience. His voice still sounds the same with the exception of some of the high notes. I have watched other videos of Shinedown's live singing and it is very good. I always think about how many concerts he may have done before this one. The voice does go through some wear and tear, that is just the way it is. Shinedown is awesome.

  • @Treaty4 u like little boys too?

  • DAMN. shinedown just keeps getting better every single day, i started listening to them when i was like 11, now im 13 and every day theyve gotten 1000 times beter :) by the way wickmanfarm, nice job with the vid dude. and anybody thats hating on shinedown, saying "oh well he cant hit the high notes when hes playing live" STFU!!! he chooses not to cause itd be borin if every note was the same! and you just jelous that you cant sing, and be as creative as brent smith is :)

  • some one knows if they gonna do a show around orlando ?

  • Great song but he is a bit of the fat side lmao.

  • In my opinion, he is a very good vocalist, live and recorded alike. Yes, there are some notes he can't hit live, or simply chooses not to, however he can still sing...wouldn't it be boring if *every* *single* *note* sounded EXACTLY the same live as it did on the cd? In this song he's actually singing the main vocal part, almost identical to the way it is on the cd. He's just not going up as high as the backing vocals, If you listen the recorded song carefully you'll understand.

  • to be completely honest Brent is one of the best melody writers i've ever heard. But his live performance is lacking, not just in this song but others aswell. His vocal range can't hit the notes he writes. its a shame

  • i was there woooo

  • he cant sing worth a crap

  • @holyghosthospital27 STFU What the fuck is your problem? Why the fuck are you watching this video if he can't sing worth a crap? He CAN sing worth a shit! YOUR CRAP!

  • Sound of Madness Was amazing. I went on 8/7... in Detroit :)

They are one of the best bands to come out of this generation... LOVE SHINEDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have this tattooed on my back "What a Shame, What a Shame, To Judge A Life You Can't Change" and i love it! I have gotten so many negative reactions to it too but im like "Thank you. You just proved the point of it."

  • @Veagen366 ...awesum tatt.... would luv to see it. Ur right what a beautiful message....

  • saw them in pikeville kentucky aug 10 awesome show

  • going to see shinedown on wed cant freaking wait!!!

  • "This is a song called what a shame," he said. "YAHHHHHHH!" she said.

  • Hm.. i like Shinedown very, very much, but this performance is not very good. Did no one notice how he didn't manage to hit the high voices after the bridge? The third verse I mean, when the band has to change the pitch to higher cords! It was definatly to high for his voice and he changed it to a deeper ton aftert the first two lines. Normally you notice this in the practice-room with the band and then step down a pitch or so (not easy here cause the 2 first verses reqieres a deep voice)

  • @emorsi cut him some damn slack.. its like only the 1st or second time this song was ever performed live!

  • July 17 ;)

  • how can a band be so damn amazing??? he may not be able to hit the notes to his full potential LIVE but ppl gotta realize, night after night after night after night your would start being strained i imagine

  • At the last Chorus,of this song Eric, Zach or Berry should take over.

  • HOB in AC rocks!!!!!!!!!! Lived there 5 years saw sooooooo many shows at that place

  • Man...his voice is really really tired....

  • I'll be seeing Shinedown yet again this year - July on the Carnival of Maddness tour, so hope to have more videos then.

  • @wickmanfam OH YOU LUCKY ASS HAHA WHERE DO YOU BUY YOUR CONCERT TICKETS???

  • @samanthahood12345 We buy our tickets from what ever the offical online ticket sale site is, unless we are friends with a local band who is selling tickets, then we'll buy from them.

  • wow good quality. i thought it was a tv

  • they sound good live going to see them along with nickelback in a few weeks cant wait

  • Man this and Simple Man(cover) are like the only shinedown songs that I have not heard live that I want to really bad! Should get simple man this friday but I doubt I'll get What a Shame:(

  • what is the first part they are playing?

  • Hey Pontus, I just think if they are going to have these types of songs on the set list, then they need to go ahead and do them first so that towards the end of the show, his voice isn't already blown out.

On the "Live from the Inside" dvd from two years ago, he had the same issue, b/c that was recorded during the last few gigs of that tour and his voice was absolutely shot! You could hear it as clear as day. He NEEDS a vocal coach on the road-BAD!!

  • Gotta see this live!!

  • I'm not trying to sound like an asshole here, b/c I LOVE Shinedown and Brent Smith, but he has a SERIOUS problem hitting high notes live.

He was WAY flat on the "forever" line before the key change and he totally blew the first line of the chorus AFTER the key change-he was WAY TOO flat.

In the studio you have as many takes, as it takes, to get it right, but live you only get one shot at it. My only issue with this is, don't do on a cd what you can't replicate live.

  • @IcedMaidenUSA You're right.. Though by the sound of it he has sung many songs before this one and as a singer I can tell you that after a few songs (singing Brent Smith style) you're throat gets majorly fucked up

  • going to see them this friday in Montreal ... can't wait ..... great band ..

  • Shinedown is the best band in the world!!!

  • I just saw Shinedown again last night in Atlantic City, with Nickelback. I'll be posting more videos in the next week. It was another awesome concert!!

  • @wickmanfam nickelback is honestly one of the best bands live. shinedown is a close second!!

  • I hate women at concerts, they scream the lyrics and fucking ruin songs... you can hear them in every chorus on this song, how unfortunate...

  • @al2683 I'm a guy and scream some lyrics to songs so what gives...

  • Love This Band :)

  • America...this IS YOUR wake up call..will you fight?

Live you will......but many years from now...when you're lying in you're bed what will you say ? Brent...thank you from Ronnie Van Zant. If you don't understand than ignore this. If you do...then do what thou wilt!

  • I told them this IS the next 'Simple Man'. Let go people and lets move on with Brent and the crew to build a better place for me and you!

  • Wickmanfam.... thank you so so so so much for getting these videos, they are amazing. Your videos from this show are the only thing gettign me through this week

  • Christheman0236 I'm glad I was able to brighten your week. I hope next week is better for you

  • BTW if you subscribe to my videos I hope to have more Shinedown during April. I'll be seeing them with Nichelback and then again on the VH1 cruise.

  • Subscribed :)

  • i really love this song

and credits for wickmanfan for the good quality, the best yet found thanks! :)

  • Thank you very much for the compliment - kudos to my camera!

  • you guys are so lucky! Ive seen them twice before, and neither time did they play what a shame

  • he couldnt quite hit the note at 4.35 could he, to be fair it's possibly the hardest note i've ever heard in a song but still...

  • Bummer!! I was at the Providence show too, would have loved to hear this!! At least we got Breaking Inside, one of my favorites...

  • ah nice man, i thought i had the first video but looks like you beat me by a day xD

im diggin the intro in yours and how he actually goes for the screaming after the breakdown

  • ooh my god, this is getting better and better..

    the ''prelude''is bonechilling!!

  • Your so lucky! I seen them on the Stimulate this tour in Pikeville Ky...What a shame is my fav song...they didnt do it and our show..but i'm gonna be seeing them again in March so hopefully they'll do it then...Thanks for the video....Shinedown rocks!

  • same when i saw them @ the dunkin donuts center in providence, RI... love this song...
