This is one band I am sorry I never had the pleasure of seeing live. On the other hand I've had the honor of seeing his spoken word performance many times. Wish Rollins would do more gigs here in the DC area
what better example of the power of bass in a song? gibbs managed/manages to re-write the rock bass book over the course of the album 'weight'. the tone, the melodies, the reharmonisation and messed up blue notes remain for me the most important approach to electric rock bass in the last 25 years. i guess its not surprising given his resume! viva rollins band! viva gibbs! viva ornette coleman!
this is from that late night gary crowley show on itv, right? i don´t suppose you have the version of liar from reading ´94 that was shown that night too?
@chrisdrage1 its ok man, no problem. The internet is there, you can always back through time and discover amazing bands, and i sure you will love the 90's like i do.
Enjoy this cos he may never play live with a band again, as he feels the band are going through the motions,, and are sometimes too high or drunk to play. When he relies upon himself he gives 3 hours solid a night.
WEEEEE Heuw!!!!! countdown topper! : ) .. wantta disconnect myself......1000 miles an hour goin' nowhere fast.....lookin' through the details of my past.....talking about the damage wasting my time.....WANT TO BE THE KING OF THINGS STAYING IN LINE..... ALL THE NUMBERS AND THE COLORS AND THE FACTS......BACKED BY THE RUMORS AND THE FIGURES AND THE STATS......they are gonna download my mind
rollins had such a fucking glow on him before a show with black flag and rollins band....... to watch him get amped and focused was entertaining itself. henry is very intune with himself and uses it to fuel his shows.......and it honestly does make it that much better of a show.
Just did the same thing...Disconnect, 8.1.06. NYC :)) He's such an amazing guy, watched tons of his talk shows, gigs and many other stage (or off stage) performances and I gotta say, the awesomeness is still very much strong in him. Great video ;)
Oh no! Someone stole Henry's shirt, socks and shoes!!!
Just kidding-- I listened to Rollins Band back in the 90's, wasn't a big fan of his spoken word stuff... He actually did a pretty nice set on Request Video (back on Channel 56 here in CA) in the late 90's, I'm sure I still have it in VHS somewhere...
for everyone who asked what happened to the good music, a lot of persons keep playing amazing music, its just the discs records doesnt want that kind of music. it wont sell a shit
I saw this tour at the Masquerade in Atlanta. Sausage opened up, then Rollins Band, and then Helmet. Rollins Band rocked my face off. It poured down rain during the Helmet set. Shit, that was awesome!!!!!!!!!!
MAN....I wish I could have seen them back then. My stepdad saw them on this tour in Orlando and he said it was the best concert he had ever seen. THIS IS BAD-ASS.
heh heh. I was 8. I still have a Rollins band shirt from when one of my bros went and saw one of their shows. Liar is still one of my favourite songs of all time. Oh, the 90s were so rife with good fucking music.. What happened?
even more impressive since you "decided" (?!) to like this kind of music, which is kinda deeper, as to compared to what other kids listen to nowadays...
dont even get me started about the shit that my generation listens to. if i hear the jonas brothers or lil wayne one more time i may just chop my ears off. or seriously hurt someone else.
Great performance,i remember him being cheered on then he started winding the crowd up by slagging England off and everyone was going fucking mental at him but he loved it and thrived on the energy........
soundgarden were supposed headline but pulled out,and the chillipeppers filled the spot.
Hank is at least ten times as intense as Maynard onstage. Tool is great though - Hank makes a guest apppearance on their song "Bottom." Tool also toured with Rollins Band back in the day.
Holy shit! I can't believe how many people are at this thing! I was only 10 when this was going. That must have been so uplifting for the band to have a live audience that huge. I wish I could have been there.
"sinik123" you are inept. You don't know anything about Henry Rollins. Shut the fuck up, and to some research, before opening you're cocksucking mouth.
