I just watched the Friday performance via an MTV stream and I have to say the live version with Mos and the horns was downright AMAZING (all caps intentional there!). This is why people go to concerts to listen to artists and not just Their albums. The bass and horns and all the instruments were SO pronounced. You really get a better appreciation of the complexity of the piece. Plus the energy level of the performers was so unbelievably high... I must have played it five times through now.
i appreciate the upload and everything but its gorillaz - sweepstakes. not gorillaz with mos def. it wouldnt be gorillaz with del - clint eastwood.or gorillaz with de la soul - feel good inc. mos def IS gorillaz. just like damon and everybody else. gorillaz is a project and it consists of many people.
@Crh410 I appreciate the point you're making and this is how I originally posted the video. However I changed it to "with Mos Def" (too old to use feat.!) in the hope that people just looking for Mos Def and didn't know of his involvement with Gorillaz might discover something new.
@Crh410 youre right to an extent but its not exactly as youre making out. on my ticket it says "Gorillaz & Special Guests". if what youre saying was right then it would just say Gorillaz.
i dont see any problem with mentioning his name. what i love about Gorillaz so much is that Damon clearly has a very good idea about what real hip hop is. with artists like Mos Def, De La Soul, MF DOOM, Del, Booty Brown etc etc.
@Crh410 hip hops on life support now because the wrong types of rappers are getting all the attention. i love hip hop and i think people who can appreciate the REAL cultural art form of it should do anything they can to let people know about the artists that truely represent it! instead of all these bullshit, voice synthesising, Lil's & Young's that only rap about material bullshit.
if anyone likes what Mos has done then look into his solo Albums, especially 'Black on Both Sides'.
WOW. What an excellent performance. Too bad the mic on the little camera couldn't handle it. Were the horns there? I only saw strings playing. Couldn't hear any horns.
@DarthSensate The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble were there on the Friday but not the Thursday when this was recorded. The original video sound is far less distorted when played through my hi fi, it's as much the encoding process for the web that can't handle the base, shame.
@lukebentley123 Thanks for that! I found the MTV stream and listened tot he whole Friday concert. Was unbelievably great! Had to be one of the best live performances ever.

@DarthSensate not as good as actually seeing them live!
i was lucky enough to see them at the irish centre in birmingham, a tiny venue and it was just incredible
probably the biggest gig the irish centre has ever had
