  • worthless

  • Women never get cool shit like this, why did she walk through sideways? tut.

  • better than the star trek one

  • This is a door. A magical door. Playing a magical tune.

But behind this door there lies a magical surprise. Who's coming through it today?

It's the luckiest guy on Earth.

  • This is especially ideal for REFRIGERATOR. Just reach in and get that OJ or apple! They just need to make it transparent also.

  • u gotta love the japanese

  • i think they don't have the glass version right? looks like it's titanium or aluminum.

  • SUGEEEEE

  • yea..you totally put the word out for me. It'd wouldn't make it in time.

  • imagine running into that. will it compute in time?

  • LMAO...knowing me and MY clumsiness...I'd TOTALLY run into it...somehow...i'd find a way...ROFL

  • Well if you look at a conventional automatic door. The door will open when the sensor detects you. And depending on where the sensor is positioned, governs when the door will open.

So if you place the sensor far back enough, it will detect you in time. Make sense? [=

  • wow

    its cooler!

    who cares!

    hmm

normal door that does the same exact thing for $25 or this! for $125,000

    so pointless

    but hey!

    thats japanese for you!

  • and why is this a better door than the normal automatic door we have?

  • fuck u its cooler

  • less draft

  • That is awsome. Wonder how much it costs?

  • probably 20 times more than regular automatic glass door

  • :| oh my god!

  • sIIIICK!

  • WATCH CFR/NAU

  • "you really ARE magic, aren't you Trumpy!"

  • To all the "DUHH NOT PRACTICAL" people.

I'm a designer myself, this is my job, and i say this door is brilliant and can sell a lot.

It's true it consumes more power and open to problems more than the ordinary doors and doesn't have a real advantage.

But it's new, different and it really gets your attention. One of these doors in a big mall or some crowded place will surely get some attention to you and your place.

  • what use is this meant to?

  • it is a door

    A MAGIC DOOR!

  • imagine a revolving door like that

  • its nice

  • i wonder what will happen if you run to the "door" lol. will it be fast enough to respond...

  • the future is HERE!!!

  • People say "The first person had no problem, but everyone else seemed hesitant" I only see two people, the lady and then the guy who was having fun with the door, something I would have probably done....

  • Quite impracticle

  • that looks lame. i want to walk through a door, not have to scoot through it gingerly.

    if it aint broke..., y'kno?

  • Then just get a fogscreen to yourself :) We sell it in here Finland

  • This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! How awesome would it be to have an entire house filled with these kind of doors?! AWESOME!!

  • sure people had trouble walking through it because they were a bit hesitant. I'm sure if you walked calmly into it it would give you the right amount of space to walk through.

  • You can install RFID readers along the edges of the sliders and ensure that they are never more than a few inches from the RFID tag implanted in your brain.

  • What happens when the power goes out? o_O

  • i agree with frigGeek, this invention may seem useless.but most likely somebody else with find a better application.like building blocks.who knows here this technology may end up.creativity and imagination can take one technology and lead it to unseen areas of use.thats the beauty of it.

  • I can see that being used as a coolroom door to minimize power usage.

  • It won't save you any power if not consume more. Because you literally have much more motors with these doors then the conventional ones...

  • I think they meant in terms of keeping the opening tight, to minimise air flow. Still, probably more trouble than it's worth. Neat novelty, though. I imagine it in glitzy offices.

  • I went through that thing at nextfest, it was all buggy and the guy said it was because of the lights.

  • @ Etheo: Perhaps someone will see this and figure something really useful from seeing this door. That's the way progress works: a marginal idea triggers another idea, then another, and with a bit of luck the thing evolves into a nice bit of science or technology. Consider number theory: back in the 1920s, its attraction to mathematicians was precisely because it was so lovely and useless, but now it's the central part of cryptography, data error correction, and others.

  • Would be good for commerical freezers where the door would only open as wide as the person entering thereby minimizing thermal transfer and keeping the temp more consistant.

  • As far as I know, a useless INVENTION is a "bad invention", and a NEW thing is just NEW... nothing more. Sure, it's cool as hell, ther'es no doubting that, but besides the first person everyone seemed to have had trouble walking through it. I still don't see the reason behind opening each bars individually besides the coolness factor.

  • "Experts anticipate that by 1990 there will be one billion computers-most of them linked by communications networks to other computers. Such networks didn't exist, and might even be theoretically impossible." ....

  • "(A 1975 study by the Hanover Institute concluded there was insufficient metal in the earth's crust to construct the necessary computer transmission lines.)" -- Congo, Crichton - 1980

  • Why can't people understand. It doesn't need to be practical, it doesn't need to be markettable, it doesn't need to work right. It's and INVENTION, it needs to be NEW. That's it. Like the compressed air screen a few months ago.

  • good comment

  • although it looks extremely interesting. I do not think it would be practical. But i can say its pretty.. COOL!

  • Before making inane "stupid, bad, pointless" invention comments, please consider the advantages of this system.

  • Advantages:

-It takes less energy to open individual segments than opening an entire door

-It prevents debris (such as dead leaves, dirt, etc.) from being swept in by wind, etc.

-It reduces amount of heated air that escapes the room

  • All of you posting these "pointless invention" comments have to think before making inane comments.

  • Ooooh... that's too cool!

  • haha, TwistedTechTV

  • Poontless and really bad invention, notice everyone who walked through went to the side, because the door wasn't fast enough and it made them think they couldn't fit through, STUPID invention.

  • LOL, it reminds me Harry Potter the soccerrer's stone

  • Now THAT is COOL!

  • nice...

  • I still think my eye would hit into one of those sliders that DIDN"T move... XD

    isn't it called NextFest? I d k... I'm more of a GAMER-convention go-wer. :P

  • It would be better if it waited for the people to get halfway through the door and then slammed closed, trapping them in its pincer-like grasp. Muahaha!

  • Cool!

  • You use it to keep out the cold, silly. :)

  • Tight

  • cool door! I want one!

  • Stupid invention. No one is going to take 10 min to walk through a door. Open fast and shut fast. It's that simple.

  • Things get better. The first cell phones were bigger than a brick and cost thousands. Now children get them for as stocking-stuffers, and they have camera, video, and multiple ringtones depending on who is calling.

This door will get better too.

  • im going tomm

  • wtf?

  • SHWEEEETTT

  • Thing fucked up several times. It got stuck randomly. It wouldn't open enough. It closed too soon. Etc.

  • Things get better. The first cell phones were bigger than a brick and cost thousands. Now children get them for as stocking-stuffers, and they have camera, video, and multiple ringtones depending on who is calling.

This door will get better too.

  • looks funny, but what's it for? How could that be of use anywhere?

  • AWESOME

  • that's retarded.

  • ooo finaly they fix it.

  • careful that thing could malfuction and fuck you up!

    VERY NICE! Love it

  • haha

  • lol, thats sweeeeet

  • wow star trek styles

  • i word = AMAZING
