  • @Jack655321, you're an idiot.

The term graphic novel has nothing to do with the genre or content.

    Calling Watchmen "shitty superhero comics"...

Well did I mention you're an idiot?

  • none of these are graphic novels, they're all shitty superhero comics. graphic novels tackle more serious subject matter.

  • green lantern book mark good times lol

  • Dude come the fuck down, just cuz someone accidently referse to a trade as a graphic novel doesn't make them snobbie or a snob.

  • Holy shit was I tired when we filmed this.

I gotta re-film this at some point!

  • just a matter of opinion, but to me when someone says "prestige format", it sounds a lot snobbier than plain old graphic novel. Not saying your wrong, but most noobs would know them as just graphic novels. You have to be kind of in-the-know to refer to them as prestige format.

  • Your opinion of the prestige format term is indeed an opinion, but my statement of definition is not.

And that (as stated) was the whole point of this.

To put people in the know that aren't!

  • I understand the definition, but it's your opinion that "graphic novel" is a snobby term, when "prestige format" clearly sounds way snobbier. IMO of course. lol

  • I don't disagree that prestige format sounds snobbier!

Its a rarely used term really.

Personally I prefer the terms "Book" "Novel" and "magazine", but use the term "comic" the most outta habit!

  • i know my watchmen book is a tpb and my pride of baghdad book is a graphic novel and for the simpel fact that watchmen was first put out as singel issues and pride of baghdad wasnt. just like hartley saying thats the difference.

  • Virtue and Vice?! I love that trade (while, hard cover there...but trade when I read it)!

    Nice stuff Hartley :)

  • Ah but you see this was never individual issues so it was a Graphic novel right from the get-go as "trade" refers to collected format books!

I prefer just calling em books to be honest, and we have Will Eisner no blame for the term "graphic novel"...

    Stupid awesome (RIP) Eisner...

  • Lol, good job clearing up the question hart..lol.. clickity clack..lol..

  • Thanks for clearing that up :)

  • great dude... clear and easy to understand for n00bies...

you better keep this shit up!

  • I'm gonna have to show this to all my non comic reading friends who think they know there shit.
