  • Glad I found this! I really like your video :)

  • The problem with this thinking is that nobody was questioning the existence of Christ back then. That is something atheist have invented recently. Therefore, the logic that monks all over the world got together to insure ever copy of Tacitus was properly forged isn't logical. Were they thinking ahead to modern atheism? They were out to get you? Believing that every historical document that mentions Christ is fake is clearly unreasonable thinking.

  • @thewordofgod2010, "But Christ — if He has indeed been born, and exists anywhere — is unknown, and does not even know Himself, and has no power until Elias come to anoint Him, and make Him manifest to all. And you, having accepted a groundless report, invent a Christ for yourselves, and for his sake are inconsiderately perishing.” Justin Martyr (Dialogue with Trypho Chapter 8)

  • @thewordofgod2010 It is not unreasonable - there is absolutely no proof of Jesus, or any of the apostles or of a Roman trial. Can anyone produce any evidence? The enormity of such a lie and its horrific impact on genuine believers is shockingly cruel, yet it mirrors the false charges against the Jews and bad doctrines of racism also embedded in the Gospels and Quran, passed off as Godly revelation.

  • Well done! I accidentally pressed 'dislike' instead of 'like' and that really bugs me because this is really very good!!! Thank you.

  • You know that it is impossible that Tacitus could have actually wrote this. These manuscripts are from the Byzantine period, written by monks, and copied from earlier versions of Tacitus.

  • Yes, no one ever claimed that this particular manuscript was an original copy, penned by Tacitus himself. However, it is also important to note that it may not actually be a copy of an earlier text by Tacitus either. No one ever spoke of a work titled Annals by Tacitus, or ever quoted the work prior to it being "found" in the 15th century. It is possible that the entire work is a fraud. This and many other works were "found" after the invention of the printing press.

  • @ForBibletruth

    excellent point

  • @ForBibletruth - TRUE. It has been conjectured that they were a forgery of Poggio Brocciolini in the 15th century. And the Annals were indeed never quoted until the 15th century.

  • so who were the chr"e"stianos that were blamed for the fire?

  • Unknown, however I did come across a few paragraphs by Tony Bushby that suggested that they were cannibals, but I was unable to confirm that-he has access to the Vatican Libraries. We also know that Suetonius stated, "Since the Jews constantly made disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus, he expelled them from Rome", however that happened during the days of Claudius. Many books were destroyed by the early church, in their zeal, so we may never know.

  • Interesting video.

I had ran across the "e" to "i" material not long ago.

It is a very convincing piece of evidence.

  • I have always been told by my mom that Jesus DID exist.

  • Yes, well we cannot fault our parents for this. They were acting on the best information they had, and it was more that likely reinforced by their parents and pastors, who in turn never did the research, but only passed on what they believed was correct.

  • ....i think you missed the entire point of this video

  • @Angie2343

Well, that settles it, I suppose.

  • Who the heck were the "Chrestianas?" Is there any historical record of them outside of this passage's supposed reference? And r u saying that Tacitus was saying that Nero blamed the "Chrestians" for setting fire to Rome?

  • " Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Chrestians by the populace...an arrest was first made of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of hatred against mankind." Does this sound like any Christian you know?

  • Considering Tacitus would not have been sympathetic towards the Christians I have no doubt in my mind that he would have accused the Christians of this kind of activity. But that is besides the point. I didnt ask u y u dont think this passage was originally talking about Christians. I asked u who u propose the "Chrestians" were since that is ur theory?

  • The term "Chrestians" is not a theory, and it is not my theory. Google the term, and you will find the term was used by many scholars, long before I was born. Again, we have no way of knowing if this is truely the work of Tacitus. Now you chose to attack both Tacitus and me, because the message doesn't suit your needs? Are you seeking the truth or do you seek to destroy it?

  • It is far more likely that he would be portrayed as accusing the Jews of this crime.

  • The Tacitus text (as it exists today) says that the Christians derived their name from "Christus." U contend that the Romans would not have referred to Jesus that way. But Tacitus is simply saying that the Christians believed him to be Christus. It does not mean that the Romans themselves referred to him that way. The official records could have simply been stating that the Christians considered him to be the Christ and not affirming that the Romans considered him to be that.

  • Official Roman records would have listed his legal name-not what others considered him to be. This is the oldest copy of the text in existence, and as I showed you, it has been changed. The text was never quoted by anyone until about 400 years after this copy was written, so we don't even know if this is a true copy of a prior text actually written by Tacitus, or if it is a fraudulent text to begin with. We have nothing to compare it with.

  • Or... Have you also been drinking the kool-aid of agnostic reasonings that make all men drink with their over intelligence?

Just like what Christianity the institution did and does which is to over intellectualize for the sake of making servants of men by the ignorance of what the masses don't know by their inability to garner an adequate understanding of history and how it's been manipulated therby...

    C...

  • his name was not jesus christ or the christ his name is yahsha wich mean savior yahshaya hamessia.

  • And how would you know what his name was when NO historian of his time mentioned him? Be fore you argue about what he sould be called, you should prove he existed.

  • Frankly I don't care what people ignorantly call Him.

But it is interesting that you understand the syncretizing of language form's has begotten mankind a false sense of recognition by misappropriating numerous men and women thru history.

But what I find odd here in your christian rebuttal is the lack of any credibility that a man existed over two thousand years ago born to a man and woman named respectively Yoseph and Miriam; His name being at birth Yeshua' the son of Yoseph; don't you agree?

  • Hi I really enjoy your videos. What you you think of the source for this information?

  • Truth is truth, no matter what the source. The experts will argue about this for centuries to come. The fact remains that the word was chamged, and 2 different inks are present, which I believe would argue against the original copyist correcting an error. Not having an earlier manuscript to compare to makes it impossible for us to know if the manuscript is even genuine.

  • Thanks

  • 1 Cor. 15:33 "Bad companionship corrupts/destroys [chrestos ethos]." Virtuous customs? Christian ethnos, people?

  • Thank you for posting this video. Christians believe that a fictional characters called Jesus Christ (yeah, they don't even know that "Christ" is a Greek word, for them is logical that a prophet would adopt a last name in another language, which is not a last name since it means "messiah")really existed when in reality more than one writer (now that they don't kill/torture/burn them anymore) already proved that many ancient texts were altered by the monks to give historical proof of existence.
