Have you ever tried this in a crockpot? It looks like it could convert easily and would be a great dish for the nights that I'm running around with the kids! Yum.
Beth this looks so good. My husband thanks god for you because if it wasnt for your cooking videos we would be eating out everynight lol I am not a good cook. I was going to make this tomorrow night for dinner using boneless skinless chicken breast. Do you think that will be ok? Will I have to cook it less time that you did the thighs? Thank you!
@godseeri The breasts will come out very dry tasting.. you may want to just watch. I've never done it with breasts before, so I cannot tell you yes or no, sorry!! But yey!! My stuff is usually extremely easy and fast :)
That really does look good. It reminds me of Indonesian chicken recipe from Ina Garten. Yeah, every cooking channel I watch seem to have people who are "concerned" about others health. Even it was a recipe for a shredded, raw, undressed coleslaw there would be people pretending to gasp at the amount of sugar/fat/salt in it.
@WillowBranchDesigns Pam, it always boggles my mind why, if they think it's horrible or so unhealthy, they feel the need to actually click the link to watch it. And then it's the people who never comment that feel the need to try and bring you down. Bleh.
@CookingAndCrafting im making this for the second time again. :) the very first time turned out burned because i accidently put the stove on high heat. but i still ate it. -,- hahah
and im making this today again. hopefully it'll not be burned again because my grandma wants to try it out too. :)
I tend to be really snippety about thighs. Whole, they're just too fatty and greasy for my tastes, so I only buy them boned and skinned, and then I'll still nitpick them to death, trimming out as much fat as I can get. THEN they cook up absolutely great, and with shoyu is just one of the many unhealthy ways I do them. YUMMY!
I eat this almost everyday haha. But instead of sugar i use brown sugar to marinate, along with some soy sauce and garlic powder. I than pan fry about 30-1 minute on each side and than oven bake it ;D. Nice protein
@orochiThing Shut up, for reals? You get it from plate lunch stands or something? It is good. Don't know if I would eat it every day. Cuz get katsu and teri beef and bbq chicken too. Oh yeah loco moco. Are you local?
@CookingAndCrafting I make it myself =). Sometimes when we're out of chicken stock, and/or don't want to make our own, my uncle would substitute the soup base with a soy sauce and water for noodles in soup. Btw, this recipe is like average for most Chinese food lol.
Wow that looks interesting. I've never eaten chicken cooked in soy sauce and sugar... is it like a Barbeque?? Ya know I gotta try this some day. Hugs!
@imperceptibleme Nope , not like BBQ at all. I was going to say maybe it is close to teriyaki, but not even that. The sugar sort of cancels the saltiness of the shoyu. It's definitely interesting. grew up with this kind of stuff :)
