Many people think this is some LMG variant of the M-16. In reality, the M-16 is more of a variant of THIS gun. Eugene Stoner made the AR-7, the M63, the AR-10 and then the AR-15 (M-16). The stoner was basically a total lightwieght redesign of the WW2 BAR, which also spawned the FAL and LAR.

@DizzyMan24 theres an MG42, which is basically the same thing as an MG3. but yeah they dont have the other stuff, at least in my knoledge. but yeah if you want an MG3 like gun look up the Shoei MG42 which is exactly the same thing but sized to fire 7.92x57mm mauser rounds not 7.62x51.

The real steel was meant to be modular. With one pin removed, you can take off the whole stock. Swap the lower receivers and it can accept all standard STANAG magazines. Take another lower, and it can have select fire. Modularity was the reason why the Vietnam era Navy SEALS chose this, besides its weight and ergonomics. Aluminium is the newer word, most of the world uses it.

Hey, I've got a question about range. Is it true that a Tokyo Marui rifle with 285 Fps would outrange another AEG of about 350 Fps but of less good quality (Hop-up, barrel, etc.)? And is it true that the Fps for the best range is 300-330 because the BBs become unstable at higher velocities?
