  • Rock and soul combined together is known as the blues

  • Rock and Soul music are the fucking same.It rocks and has soul. It can be both, and can't exist without each other.

  • great vibe regardless

    ;P

  • same tree, different branch.

  • <3

  • eddie murphy in dreamgirls lol

  • RIP Alan Rubin!

  • In my memory, the 8 key boogie sound of the late forties carried into R & B. When the radio stations did not want to play R & B as done by the original bands, they transitioned into Rock and Roll with Bill Halley, Elvis and guys like Gene Vincent. Soul music was always in R & B, and was copied into Rock and Roll. Therefore, Rock and Roll grew out of R & B, not the other way around. Elvis and them came out of Memphis, not Detroit. Lived through the fifties, sixties, seventies and still going.

  • @simian1842a You absolutely right bro. ... I was there through it all too. A memorable pivot point worth mentioning, I think, was Big Joe Turner.

  • Soul was part of rock-n-roll music. It became a seperate flavor after it started becoming popular among the white teenagers, the record buyers in those days.

But like it or not Morrypix, it was part of rock-n-roll.

    Lived then- did that.

  • the main Stax backing band were Booker T and the MG's

  • This is called THE STAX-MEMPHIS SOUND which includes the horn section along with Steve Cropper on lead guitar and Duck Dunn on bass.

    Song written by Pickett-Cropper.

  • SHE'S LOOKIN' GOOD by PICKETT shoulda been a big hit.

    jctoronto

  • This music is not Rock& Roll as has been suggested in these comments, this is SOUL music! to call it Rock&Roll is a insult to the Soul music industry!

  • @Morrypix

    YOU ARE ABSOULUTLY RIGHT!

Soul music is in a category all by its self and one that should be recognized more that it has.Artis such as Sam Cooke, Sam&Dave, Joe Tex, Wilson Pickett ( to name a few) laid the foundation of Soul music and influenced many.

    RIP WP

  • @creaturebotman Chuck Berrys poetic lyrics and other R&R songs had rock and roll feelings. Soul artists lyrics came from the very essence of the writers soul!

  • True

  • @creaturebotman YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!

  • @creaturebotman

on our hemisphere, beyond the ocean: Edith Piaf, Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel, Fabrizio de André, Sotiria Bellou, Peter Gabrie, sir John MCarthy

South of Miami: Omara Portuondo, Compay Segundo, Chico Bouarque, Gilberto Gil...

  • @Morrypix

Yes you are right this is SOUL

  • @Morrypix

  • @Morrypix So it has to be an extremist view right? INSULT you say? Why must you pit Soul against Rock & Roll? It is MUSIC... Period! Enjoy it & get over it!

  • @Morrypix who fucking cares?! Soul music Rocks and Rock& Roll has soul

the definitions do not matter. good music is good music!

  • Memories, all good ones.

  • That doesn't look like Paul Shaffer on the the keyboards.

  • Got Blue Lou on sax, nice. lol

  • What's the matter with you Wilson Pickett fans? There are a whole swath of his hits that are not posted including "FOR BETTER OR WORSE.", 'DON'T KNOCK MY LOVE", "TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR", "I'M A MAN AND A HALF", and many more! So, get with it YouTubers; We need another "Pickett's Charge", you dig?

  • Simply the best!!!!

  • This is it, folks. The Real Deal. It doesn't get any better than this. RIP, Pickett. I miss you every day.

  • What would I give to turn back the hands of time -- back to the days when singing reall meant singing!

    RIP Wilson!

  • DandJRuffin YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. LORD KNOWS WE'RE LOSING THE GREAT ONES. For many moons PICKETT,,BROWN,,DIDDLEY were MY GUYS on every station I worked. THIS IS REAL ROCK&ROLL. We still have STEVE CROPPER

  • I also adore Eddie LeVert. I hope he'll be feeling well enough sometime (after the terrible tragedies in his life) to come back and sing. He has an unforgettably beautiful voice ...

  • @THEMOJOMANsince1959 I really mean't to say R&B and SOUL

  • The GREATS are slowly leaving us. I will miss WILSON PICKETT the rest of my life. LORD KNOWS I played the HELL outa his records when I was 'ON THE AIR" at every station I worked on THEMOJOMANdotCOM

  • The microphone's feedback is the proof that it can't handle the awesomeness of Wilson Pickett.
