Thanks a lot for posting this the best gem of his composition in mayamalavagowla ragam. want to hear more of such symphony by ilayaraja in such core ragas.I had the cassette of this album, but lost it. Thanks a lot for posting this song.
All mayamalavagowla ragam lovers should definitely listen to this maestro's one of the wonderful compositions. I think he dedicated this track to both thyagaraja and Bach!! It is heavenly!! Felt like thyagaraja singing and Bach arranging the orcheastra to his wonderful composition thulasidala!! Though this could not happen Ilayaraja had the vision and composed this.. when i hear this mayamalavagowla, tears stream down my cheeks!! I cant help it. especially the first charanam..
this is from Thyagaraja's composition "Thulasidala" (Mayamalavagowla). The appropriate title for this would be "Chamber welcomes Thyagaraja" since Illayaraja adapted Thyagaraja's composition and added some western interludes to it. Does any one know why the "Chamber welcomes Thyagaraja" was used for some other number from the same album ?
Great music, but not a well produced CD. Track names are jumbled. Cassette and CD has same tracks with different names. This should be Chambers welcome Thyagaraja.
No, as far as I know, it has not. The CD sleeve has messed up the order and name of track titles. The audio cassette I owned had the correct track titles and order.
introduce u r channal to all music lover channal in another country also they also will get to this classic experience. an will known our meastro and our way of music
Based on tulasidala, so its Maya maalava gowlai at the core.I am not so very expert in this, but I guess this song along the way also has other Raagas.
It is Mayamaalava Gowla alone. It is made polyphonic in the western classical way, while the Raagam remains the same. Polyphony requires multiple octaves (of the same raaga) which might have given the feeling that it has multiple raagas.
why dosen't tulasi dalamula not mention thyagaraja? i mean why is the title of THIS song study for violin? shouldn't this be "chamber welcomes thyagaraja?"
Exactly. I believe the names have been moved around. I owned a cassette and then a CD. The titles of the tracks were different in both. I believe the one on the cassette was right.
BTW whenall, thanks for posting these masterpieces.
... precisely.. and the number under 'Chamber welcomes Thyagaraja' is completely unrelated. BTW,Tulasidala couldnt have done better than this. Mottai is truly inspirational..
actually mottai's job in this piece was done when hedecided to include this in the album. that was inspirational enough - the rest of the job has been take care of by Thyagaraja and MMG!
You people are all right, I have always had this confusion, but then stuck with what was said on the CD. Nevertheless it does not matter much, as Raja(or affectionately mottai :D)dedicates the whole album in honor of Thyagaraja and Bach.
Raja sir's music is my second mom...

It is Mayamalavagowla... interspaced with the corresponding western notes.. I think
It is so simple yet so rich !!!!
AND the meaning words of this by saint Tyagaraja are similarly simple but profound !!

It was a mistake by the label company and "Chamber welcomes Thyagaraja" is the intended title for this track.
