All I know is that when I went to China, I got nearly $5000 worth of quality health care, including an ultrasound and full chest x-rays and blood tests for HIV and Hepatitis...for the monetary equivalent of $40
When I can get that kind of health care in America for the same price, then I will be willing to entertain those old conservative arguments!
I really wish you would stop bashing the UK medical service. It is not only offensive but almost always flawed in execution. The youngest baby *ever* to have survived was at 21 weeks and 5 days. The fact of the matter is that there *must* be a cut off point. Would you expect a 15 week baby to receive medical attention? how about 12 weeks?
@kidskillconscience According to the article: "She said he was breathing unaided, had a strong heartbeat and was even moving his arms and legs, but medics refused to admit him to a special care baby unit." I suppose it has to do with the value of human life. Even if someone is terminally ill, they should still receive medical treatment.
this crotch monkey is full of inapplicable bull crap and has no use to society and his primary application is lying, i read the conversation and he brought up healthcare very briefly right after he talked about education and the fifteen other problems we have that you claim dont exist
The guidance, drawn up by the Nuffield Council, is not compulsory but advises doctors that medical intervention for very premature children is not in the best interests of the baby, and is not 'standard practice'.
Studies show that only 1 per cent of babies born before 23 weeks survive, and many suffer serious disabilities. it is VERY RARE that a baby will be healthy after such, also this person had 5 miscarriages.before. abortion is set at 24 weeks. understand? the baby would of died anyway.
satanic criminal lunatics are running the system. If holdren really believed in eugenic and population control he should cut off his own testicles and then shoot himself in the face. Thanks John, you may have just saved the planet by doing that.
Around 1% of those born at, or close to 22 weeks survive to leave hospital. And while most of them develop disabilities, some don't. I think it should be up to a parent.
magiktrinity, murderers SHOULD be executed. I don't think there are "hundreds" executed in the US every year- much less then that (which isn't good, because homicide rates fall right after each execution- they should be performed more often)..
I would encourage people to do some research on your own to find out the views & beliefs of these Czars. Quite easy, since they have written books, op-eds & video taped speeches.
What's the difference between Holdren,The Pharaoh in Exodus 1,Herod in Matthew 2:16, Hitler and Eugenics? Nothing. They all kill children for population control.
You are so full of shit. The story about the baby death was an issolated case, and not only that it came from the Daily Mail, a newspaper that cherry picks and sensationalises as much as you do. Of course early babies get healthcare, what kind of a dimwitted moron are you?
im sure every1 knows someone at there work place who will actually do anything so as not to have to work like the 11 acor employees-you cant blame acorn cause there is some lazy people in america-i dont hear you slamming wall street for fuckin up the world or i dont hear you slamming republicans for trying to stop obama giving an insurance option to the peps that actually need it-DONT LISTEN TO THIS GUY HES A VOICE FOR THE RICH-HES LIKE THE GEEK AT SCHOOL THAT LICKS PEOPLES ARSES 4 HIS OWN GAIN
russia has killed more people than anyone get your facts right if you actually read the quotes by john holden he doesnt actually say what you say you jus pick words out of his quotes to fit your arguement (these quotes are in the fiskin of the liberal viewer if you actually pause and read them you'l see this guy is full of crap) your a scaremungerer and again a douche and the eleven people who got caught doing dodgy stuff by acorn are being prosecuted by acorn
If you watch the big O has been doing recently with the elementary school kids, it's just what MaoZeDong did with students in China after he took over. I'm not surprised that they're trying to model after China. When my wife and I lived over there (for about 9 years) we said a long time ago that this is what was going to happen in the U.S. - and it's happening!!!!
You lose all credibility by lying about Thomas Friedman, painting a reasonable, knowledgeable, pragmatic person as an anti-American lover of tyranny.
Friedman doesn't PREFER Chinese authoritarianism to American freedom, he just notes that their methods can get their objectives met while GOP obstructionism can not. He's observing harsh REALITY, something religiously-indoctrinated righwingers reject in favor of feel-good fairy tales such as, don't like global warming? Then it doesn't exist!
You'd think that instead of preaching all that "morals/values/family" crap on homosexuals, conservatives would start giving it to the banks and private insurance companies that write their che--
Wouldn't a baby born before 22 weeks be SEVERELY premature? To the point where the chances of it surviving are horribly small?
And no, I don't think obstructionists should be encouraged, rewarded, respected, or taken seriously. Their whole plan is to just block things. The GOP's (read that Republican's) plan is to just block bills, and fillibuster EVERYTHING!
Babies born at 23 weeks have only a 16% survival rate, no matter how much technology is used to save them, and usually require expensive, life-long special care. Before 22 weeks, survival is so rare it becomes world news -- the exception that proves the rule.
Squandering limited health care resources on a long shot means those resources aren't available for more treatable conditions. Reality intrudes on our vision of a perfect world, but in the real world, tough choices must be made.
Hey Lee, why don't you make a video showcasing private insurers who deny coverage for pre-existing conditions? Better yet, how about one when they deny coverage for no rational reason at all.
Woman: "Mr. Private Bureacrat, I just have acne."
Doctor: "I agree with the lady's findings."
Private Insurance: " No, I still see cancer spots, sorry. No coverage."
Nothing says "free market" like letting a lady die for a paycheck.
Probably does, knowing conservatives. To save money we are going to have to ration care with or without a public option. That means a pill for terminally ill people needing an operation, and denial of treatment for babies unlikely to live.
@Savior20061 Yah and liberals will do the same thing but tax us more on top of it, and say they still arent getting enough money. Politicians are abunch of criminals that know how to avoid the consequences of the law. And thier all Power mongers except for a few.
yeah, like ALL OF A SUDDEN he talks about Czars, who talks about czars? Glenn Beck & FoxNews.
Like it would have some kind of socialistic ideal into it, while the Tsar was the king of Imperial russia. And since last time, I don't think feudal societies = socialist ones.
So using it to describe something OBAMA-SOCIALIST or similar is retarded.
I am studying embryology in medical school and can emphatically say that the life of the fetus should be preserved at any cost if it has passed the first trimester.
"the life of the fetus should be preserved at any cost if it has passed the first trimester. "
Well I suggest you complete your studies because the people in the medical profession - you know the ones who actually deliver and look after premature babies, as well as every respected bio-ethics committee, based on real world experience, say you're wrong.
Neither. I'm stating that people in the business of delivering babies are suggesting you're wrong for considering everything beyond the first trimester as "late term" or viable. They didn't just pull the 22 week limit out of their asses you know.
Premature babies can be born as early as 20 weeks old, and, while in need of serious surgical attention, can go on to become healthy people. It is my opinion that a fetus at this age should therefore be given every opportunity possible to preserve life.
It doesn't, that's just a statement that eugenics supporters pull out of their asses every time they get challenged. No one has ever cited the specific language guaranteeing the right to an abortion, because it IS NOT THERE.
Environmentalism is a religion because of some random blog?
11 people committed fraud, the corporation itself turned them in, and their impact on the electoral process was inconsequential according to your link. Yeah good thing a corporation that turns in employees that do the wrong thing, will be doing a census. It would be such a disaster if a tiny minority in a company did the wrong thing and it wasn't covered up.
Hopefully in a free-market system the English women would realize the possibly very large financial burden that an extremely premature child would be on her life and be given the choice herself to opt out of life support instead of the state doing it for her. In the current system in the United States and England the incentives are set up so that people don't know the costs and think they are entitled to health care.
In the US the parents would probably not think the consequences through either, assuming that if the child is too disabled then medicare or medicaid will cover the cost of supporting a child that could grow up healthy, or could grow up too disabled to support its own medical care and thus force the government to do so.
You do realize that you totally missed the moral point of killing another human being for the sake of your convenience? I mean, it did occur to you that something about "opting out of life support" for an already born baby might be just a tad bit immoral in some people's view right? Or are you so utterly lacking in conscience that you didn't notice?
So everyone should be kept alive as long as possible no matter the cost, pain to the individual, or prospects for the future? Even if parents can't afford it others should be forced to pay whatever cost on the slim possibility that the child survives a year, let alone until adulthood.
You probably think capitalists are evil for worshiping the dollar right? Yet you put a dollar before a human life.
Ever hear of this little idea called "universal rights of man"? It's an old enlightenment era concept that human life is inherently valuable. In my country, we say you have the right to LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'd be happy to elaborate since it sounds like you grew up in a communist state given the kind of moral philosophy you espouse.
Just hope nobody ever uses your own logic againstyou if you are in a car accident and it would cost "too much" to repair your broken self, and you only have a "slim possibility" of "surviving a year", let alone the rest of your life.
I'm interested how it is "anti-capitalist" to think that other people shouldn't be forced to pay for my health care. Or why I'm a "communist" for not believing in socialized medicine. If you could explain that to me I'd be very interested.
Read my post again (If you know how). I said you probably think capitalists are evil. It's a guess based on your tone. Might be wrong, has nothing to do with health care. The point is, you care about a dollar more than human life.
TRY to read this if you can; I didn't say anything about socialized medicine; I said letting a baby with a chance to live (even slim) just die is wrong. I mentioned communist countries because I've known lots of people from such places with your kind of "morality".
I'm the one that happens to be talking about health care. If that is not what you are talking about I don't know why you would respond to an argument about health care. Apparently you are talking about how I'm a money loving communist who hates capitalism and worships money... can't say I've ever heard of that before and maybe I don't know how to read because I have no idea what you are talking about.
What I'm talking about is that in a free capitalist society people would have CHOICES and would receive the right SIGNALS from the market system. It would be the parents CHOICE what steps they want to take to prolong the life of a child or make what life it has the best it can be. Dr.'s and governments ALREADY DECIDE whether they think a child can be saved.... whether it's viable.
People young and old die every day. People should get the proper SIGNALS from the market to let them know whether or not they can afford a treatment or medical procedure. The only other option is to FORCE other people to pay for it through a communist or socialist system in which people have NO IDEA what kind of burden they are putting on others. This would lead to a society full of happier more productive people... but I guess I'm just a money loving communist.
AHBritton: That's the problem with most of these fundamental christian "conservatives". They talk all this bullshit about the free-market, and small gov., and how they hate to pay for someone else's child (the get off welfare argument); but as soon as something impedes on their outdated moral bible code, they suddenly love big gov. and wasteful spending...as long as it benefits their religious paradigm and forces others to do the same.
It's not a moral issue it's an ethical one. That aside, do you consider it moral to prolongue the suffering of parent and child when there is close to 0% chance of the child surviving to full term (at present). If a foetus has been born under 22 weeks, the moral thing to do, in this case, is to take the more difficult ethical choice.
I have never seen any of your video's before today, but clearly you are not in touch with the real world and refer to the so called facts with little understanding yourself, pretty much like the media is general.
You need to understand the basic's of life before commenting on it. "IF" a baby was born at 22 weeks or earlier and was some how able to breath unaided (not possible) then the NHS would bend over backwards to help the infant. The FACT "Up until 21 weeks: 0% survival rate".
@eoverington So what's the cause and effect, smart ass? If they bother supporting a baby born before 21 weeks, perhaps the survival rate would be higher than 0%? LOL. (I haven't watched the video mind you, just want to correct your faulty logic)
I don't think you have grasped yourself the true facts. The NHS down NOT 'bend over backwards' to help foetuses born earlier than 22 weeks...full stop! Even if it was 1 day too early! The health proffessionals follow national guidelines and ignore mothers pleas. Perhaps you should reiterate your comment about the video maker having little understanding when you yourself don't understand much...it makes you seem silly

You do realize that Van Jones is not/was never a truther, right? Also, you do realize that it's rather hypocritical to bash China for its authoritarian policies while simultaneously cheering on the destruction of Van Jones for his political views... you know, like China does. Communist or not, everybody should have the right to freely express their political opinions.
He definitely WAS NEVER a truther, agreed there. However, part of living in a society where all speak freely is that people will get their views challenged, and if one is not prepared to step up and defend what you believe, then I have zero sympathy for that person.
China is authoritarian, but really its what works for China. Its waayy too big for a democracy and its population is large, and their civilization has been around longer than ours. Its always tough to say but politics in China is quite interesting. China isn't anywhere as bad as Singapore when it comes to political freedom. XD
Yeah, he signed/ or at least thought he signed some petition asking for "unanswered questions" in 9/11 to be answered. Like why certain protocols weren't done, why AA missiles weren't fired, why no jets took off for interception. That kind of stuff. Innocent. But the right can find Satan in a smoke cloud hitting a tower, so yeah.
If I was a czar, I'd be fired for all the perfectly legal porn I have watched.
how the f'ck are your videos rated a 4 out of 5. Man, america is f'cked if this guy isn't using a vote bot. REALLY. I always thought a large part of our public was misinformed, but I've rated most of your videos a 1 maybe a few a 2 if you had actual decent facts and not opinions.
You seem to love to rant about abortion, I ask you what have you past republican congress and presitdents done to reverse abortion rights, I tell you nothing, Cause the bill of rights grants of those liberties. You sound bright but thats all. YOur arguments do not hold water.
Your error about Congress not approving him is so outrageous, you should have redone the whole video. It's like saying "Hitler was a good man" and then writing later "Correction: Hitler was a bad man."
I have to call bullshit on the comment about England. I am sorry. Americans need to get off the bashing England nad the other countries.Their system is much better.
This is a dumb person indeed. I listened to like 20 seconds of his ranting, and it´s all blah and BS from the start. Except perhaps the intro-melody..it seems indeed to be an actual intro.
The article you linked to said he supported forced sterilizations and abortions in books published in the 1970's. Why didn't it name those books, quote the sections in context, give a page number, anything? "Hot air" is the name of the blog: hot air INDEED. If I'm to accept a strong assertion like that, I'm going to NEED some supporting evidence.
The video on the link is from 2007...him talking against exceptionalism....so there is up to date evidence regarding exceptionalism...but yeah, the sterilization of water is from the 70's and is out of date..."The College Politico finds something a little more recent in this interview in 2007, conducted in the virtual-reality environment of Second Life, in which Holdren discusses his views on science and economics"... (the video)
I love the outro haha. A few minutes of furious ranting followed by peaceful music that sounds completely out of context.
I also love how he takes everything out of context. He disregards all of the reasonable environmental concerns, quoting only the most radical things and believes that's what the whole environmentalism movement is about. Waht a tool.
Given all of this crazy Global Warming hysteria going on, does it surprise you that he would? It sure doesn't surprise me, that is precisely what the endgame is for environmentalism in general, if you doubt this, I think you need to do some reading into the history of the movement, including the people who founded it in the early to mid 20th century. Start by getting a copy of Holdren's book EcoScience, but really, there are many books calling for stuff like this. It's crazy, but it is true.
How many liberals would be straightforward enough to actually CORRECT their OWN misstatements within their own videos? I congratulate HTWW on his honesty. He's man enough to listen to his critics and, if demonstrable facts are against him, acknowledge that. I can't recall the last time I heard a liberal say, "OK, I got that part wrong. " All in all, HTWW is kicking butt and taking names. 'Bout time. Keep it up, brother.
LOL! Every one who doesn't believe this guy needs to read more books on government. I am sick of Conservatives being called Nazi's and Fascists. From this moment on I will stand up against any person who disagrees with this statement... "Liberalism is the daughter of Progressivism and the Niece of Fascism. Based on Liberal views and Fascist views."
You are an ignorant dumbass. You're like the national enquirer. Even your first point is a prime example of the truth you are distorting. IF a baby is born before 22 weeks it is ALLOWED to die. Their is an option, it can still get care should the parent want that. Honestly, you distort everything, Then the next two minutes are spent just making ignorant claims the whole way through to try and justify your point. Your channel disgusts me.
Britain used to be the world power, nowadays it's one of the shittiest most pathetic useless insipid, insular, pointless, depressing countries in the world.
You don't need to live in Britain like I do to know that. You just have to follow the news, because it seems like every single day conservatives and libertarians in America point to at least 1 story of pitiful socialist stupidity that eminates from Britain.
There is some hope though. The fact that there are people here still reporting on the bullshit shows that not everyone in the UK is stupid and brainwashed and resigned. And the conservatives are going to win the next election. As faggoty and liberal as they are, they're still a lot better the Labour government and hopefully they will be more conservative and effective than the sheepish centrist noises they are making now.
As usual, your arguments make no god-damn sense. Just because a few acorn employees got convicted of something, does not automatically make the entire organization evil. It's a logical fallacy. It's like saying "A few military personnel were convicted of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, including torture, rape, sodomy, and homicide of prisoners held in the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, then the entirety of the U.S. military is evil." See how much sense that makes, ZERO.
It is free for those who can't work and don't pay taxes. The small amount of additional tax is the same, proportionally, for everyone and is offset against the cost of private healthcare. Also, everyone gets treated, regardless of income, or whether they have a pre-existing condition that would be excluded under private health care schemes. It's a fair system. It's also the only responsible system for a country with moral standards. It's also funded by higher taxes on alcohol and tobacco.
"It is free for those who can't work and don't pay taxes."
Thats still not free! Someone is still PAYING for it. Do you know what happens when you raise taxes? hmmm....? People buy and consume less! Meaning the amount of taxes you bring in is rarely any more than you would have made without the tax! The extra tax on alcohol and tobacco is just going to drive down consumption and pull in no extra money.
Yes it's still paid for, by people who CAN afford it because the lower their earnings, the less they pay in additional tax relative to what private health care would cost for their whole family, non-earners included. Extra tax on alcohol and tobacco does reduce their consumption, but it doesn't eradicate it. These represent the single biggest cause of health problems, yet the revenue they bring in, even with higher taxation, still covers more than twice the health costs in UK.
Well i stopped watching after the first statement of the baby when you say it's "coming to a town near you"
What don't you people understand. The bill is to provide med care for people that can't afford it. If you are fine with your own care right now you do not have to switch. Plus show me in the bill where it says "a baby under 22 weeks will just die"
under Section 122(b) of the House bill, all plans must cover hospitalization; outpatient hospital and clinic services; services by physicians and other health professionals, as well as supplies and equipment incidental to their services; prescription drugs, rehabilitation services, mental health and substance-abuse treatment; preventive services and maternity, well-baby, and well-child care, as well as dental, vision, and hearing services for children under age 21.
It's equally useless to argue with you as well. You just drank the Kool-aid like a good obedient slave should! I can't you believed Obama and his crock of bullshit.
Have fun with your HealthCare Bill! The Government Loves you so very much! They will take care of you! Obey the man in the black uniform and just go back to sleep.
This is awesome. How much of John Holdren's book did you read? Perhaps the conclusion that said they didn't support these policies and it was a scientific thought exercise to address all population control choices. They then concluded contraception should be promoted as a way to prevent any overpopulation.
You're dishonest. You can brush off comments that disagree with your opinions, but we're both well aware how they eat at you. You're catering videos to the uneducated. Congrats.
This dumbass doesn't even read his own links. If he did he would have read at the bottom of the story about how compassionless the UK system is that: "Amillia Taylor was born in FLORIDA on 10-24, 2006, after just 21 weeks and six days in the womb. She celebrated her second birthday last year. Doctors believed she was a week older and so gave her intensive care, but later admitted she would not have received treatment if they had known her true age."
I hate when people call other people "right-wings" or "left-wings", intended as an insult.
It's the same thing as saying someone's stupid because they're black, or white, or hispanic (etc.), it doesn't mean anything.
Someone is stupid (this is what the terms "left-wing" and right-wing substitute for generally) based on what they say (or lack of education), and generally not for what they believe in, or what their beliefs coincide with.
Good question. The answer is zero. And no you're not mistaken. This moron, HTWW, actually thinks babies are born healthy at or before 22 weeks of development. Those women who carry their babies for 40 weeks are just prolonging the agony.:-P
The only thing Glenn Beck ever exposed was his own childish weakness for melodrama and scare-mongery. The guy's a disgrace to human decency with his mock shock alarm-ism and indignation. Should be a soap star.
why do so many people who claim that they are "liberal" hate capitalism so much? i thought the democratic party was supposed to support capitalism and our country! so sick of listening to people who think capitalism is evil.
I must say though. I am impressed by this HTWW guy. I mean the guy flat out lies, he provides links to articles which prove he's lying, and people still think he's honest. It's kinda like when penn and teller reveal how they do their magic tricks and people are still can't figure out how they're doing it.
That or the guy has a severe case of ADHD. I mean, if you only read the headlines, and don't actually bother to read the full story, you might believe the same crap he believes.
On the topic of enviromentalism being a religion... this is due to a new law in the UK under which "'philosophical belief' is protected by the law alongside religious belief if it passes a legal test requiring it to be cogent, serious and "worthy of respect in a democratic society". So under this new law, even capatilism would be considered a religion.
However, there is a stark difference between the philosophical beliefs of enviromentalism and capitalism. While environmentalisms suggest solving problems through man-made action, capitalism believes in inaction, that we should just do as little as possible and hope the "invisible hand" of the free market solves everything. Sounds like blind faith to me.
On the topic of the NYT and Van Jones, I read the NYT article you're talking about, and nowhere in it do they claim they did any such stories on Van Jones. I take it you're referring to where they mentioned, "Mainstream media began asking questions of their own." But they clarified who they meant by the MSM. Again, nowhere in their story did they claim covered anything on Jones.
It's odd, but I agree with Holden on lessening American consumerism. It's pure gluttony. And how many times have we stated in anger that a little chlorine needs to be added to the gene pool? Forced sterilization is right with that. I can think of a lot of people that need to be kept from spawning. But who decides? The people in power, just like China. Forced population control. Or maybe like Pre-WWII Germany: we pick an ethnic group that is spreading too fast. Wait, that I don't agree with.
The press is irrelevant, they don't give you the information needed for you to form an educated opinion.
Gateway may have exposed Van Jones, but looking at their blog, they use references to youtube videos of Fox News. It makes me feel skeptical about the worth of their credibility.
On a serious note, please don't ever mention the media/news again. They are granted unique rights in the constitution to present the public with relevant information concerning current political issues, yet they fail
You really are a burk, aren't you. I'll adress the Sharia Law below, to people with an IQ in double figures.
But in defence of my country, and my countrymen, we created the greatest empire in history, and did a damn sight better job of "running" the world than America did.
Also, "failed creation" of Israel? They seem to be doing pretty bloody good to me.
ACORN should be commended for doing the right thing. They saw something that was wrong and they reported it. They didn't try to cover it up and hope nobody would notice. You, on the other hand, read two paragraphs of a news story, and try to pass it off as a story of corruption of the entire ACORN system. That's just sad.
So I just read the ACORN article. I noticed you conveniently left out the fact that it was ACORN who "alerted authorities about the alleged illegal activity among some canvassers in Miami-Dade after finding ``numerous discrepancies'' on voter cards collected from the Homestead area."
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Correction. It's time to get rid of all czars. We don't have czars. We're the fucking USA. Since when do we have any high-power officials without representative responsibility (wether it is perceived or real)?
Tough luck I guess, try next life, have another kid.
It's repulsive that such ideology exists in the XXI century. Supply and demand doesn't work with healthcare. Poor people demand healthcare as well, but they can't be supplied because they can't afford. And they can't work either because they are to sick.
Capitalism works only for luxuries. It's doesn't and shouldn't be applied to necessities such as healthcare.
There will always be poor people in any kind of society for many different reasons. get over it and stop whining about nothing.capitalism has already proved to work far better than socialism or facism.you also made a statement that i found strange..you just kind of assumed that all poor people are poor because they have no choice or they are all just sick because they are poor...very poor argument i'd say..in my state of massachusetts, you have to have health insurance by state law!
In my country my taxes pay for my health insurance.
I advocate for neither socialism nor fascism.
I do not wish the government to own the means of production, which is what socialism means, nor do I wish the government to dictate how I live my life, which is what fascism is.
I am simply saying, lives are more important than profits. You already have the among lowest taxes in the western world. Why would you mind paying a little more so poor and sick people can get help to?
And what if the insurance corporation refuses to pay. They are masters at making stuff up, pre-existing conditions, experimental care, it isn't covered.
Should a child be left to die because his parents cannot afford to treat him? What about a legal adult? Should an 18 year old be left to die if he cannot afford healthcare?
should our next generation of babies be bankrupt with the economy totally destroyed? im sorry, but all of your statements are absolutely rediculous. WHAT COUNTRY DO YOU LIVE IN?! is the USA really so bad that we kill babies every day? you really like to go with those conspiracy theories, huh?
no, i don't believe in conspiracy theories. what country? i'm an European citizen, that's all you need to know. deregulation destroyed the economy, and spending billions on your army and 2 useless wars.
All I know is that when I went to China, I got nearly $5000 worth of quality health care, including an ultrasound and full chest x-rays and blood tests for HIV and Hepatitis...for the monetary equivalent of $40

God bless America.

Correction below:
"likelihood of survival of..."
granmaa 2 years ago
According to the Quint Boenker Preemie Survival Foundation the likelihood of a baby born at 23 weeks is 17%.
Those born before this date usually have serious health defects inclucing: brain damage, sight and hearing problems, breathing problems etc.
Is it humane or inhumane to keep it alive?
By the way, I believe the US has similar guidelines on premature births.
granmaa 2 years ago
Probably does, knowing conservatives. To save money we are going to have to ration care with or without a public option. That means a pill for terminally ill people needing an operation, and denial of treatment for babies unlikely to live.
Sorry, Lee, that's just how the world works.

I am studying embryology in medical school and can emphatically say that the life of the fetus should be preserved at any cost if it has passed the first trimester.
LPBguy 2 years ago
"the life of the fetus should be preserved at any cost if it has passed the first trimester. "
Well I suggest you complete your studies because the people in the medical profession - you know the ones who actually deliver and look after premature babies, as well as every respected bio-ethics committee, based on real world experience, say you're wrong.
dj2baduk 2 years ago
Are you suggesting that I am wrong for opposing late term abortions or that I am wrong for tolerating abortions at all?
LPBguy 2 years ago
Neither. I'm stating that people in the business of delivering babies are suggesting you're wrong for considering everything beyond the first trimester as "late term" or viable. They didn't just pull the 22 week limit out of their asses you know.
dj2baduk 2 years ago
Premature babies can be born as early as 20 weeks old, and, while in need of serious surgical attention, can go on to become healthy people. It is my opinion that a fetus at this age should therefore be given every opportunity possible to preserve life.
LPBguy 2 years ago

Hopefully in a free-market system the English women would realize the possibly very large financial burden that an extremely premature child would be on her life and be given the choice herself to opt out of life support instead of the state doing it for her. In the current system in the United States and England the incentives are set up so that people don't know the costs and think they are entitled to health care.
AHBritton 2 years ago
In the US the parents would probably not think the consequences through either, assuming that if the child is too disabled then medicare or medicaid will cover the cost of supporting a child that could grow up healthy, or could grow up too disabled to support its own medical care and thus force the government to do so.
AHBritton 2 years ago
hell yea its an entitlement.
lordblazer 2 years ago
You do realize that you totally missed the moral point of killing another human being for the sake of your convenience? I mean, it did occur to you that something about "opting out of life support" for an already born baby might be just a tad bit immoral in some people's view right? Or are you so utterly lacking in conscience that you didn't notice?
BiggsReport 2 years ago
So everyone should be kept alive as long as possible no matter the cost, pain to the individual, or prospects for the future? Even if parents can't afford it others should be forced to pay whatever cost on the slim possibility that the child survives a year, let alone until adulthood.
AHBritton 2 years ago
You probably think capitalists are evil for worshiping the dollar right? Yet you put a dollar before a human life.
Ever hear of this little idea called "universal rights of man"? It's an old enlightenment era concept that human life is inherently valuable. In my country, we say you have the right to LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'd be happy to elaborate since it sounds like you grew up in a communist state given the kind of moral philosophy you espouse.
BiggsReport 2 years ago
Just hope nobody ever uses your own logic againstyou if you are in a car accident and it would cost "too much" to repair your broken self, and you only have a "slim possibility" of "surviving a year", let alone the rest of your life.
BiggsReport 2 years ago
I'm interested how it is "anti-capitalist" to think that other people shouldn't be forced to pay for my health care. Or why I'm a "communist" for not believing in socialized medicine. If you could explain that to me I'd be very interested.
AHBritton 2 years ago
Read my post again (If you know how). I said you probably think capitalists are evil. It's a guess based on your tone. Might be wrong, has nothing to do with health care. The point is, you care about a dollar more than human life.
TRY to read this if you can; I didn't say anything about socialized medicine; I said letting a baby with a chance to live (even slim) just die is wrong. I mentioned communist countries because I've known lots of people from such places with your kind of "morality".
BiggsReport 2 years ago
I'm the one that happens to be talking about health care. If that is not what you are talking about I don't know why you would respond to an argument about health care. Apparently you are talking about how I'm a money loving communist who hates capitalism and worships money... can't say I've ever heard of that before and maybe I don't know how to read because I have no idea what you are talking about.
AHBritton 2 years ago
What I'm talking about is that in a free capitalist society people would have CHOICES and would receive the right SIGNALS from the market system. It would be the parents CHOICE what steps they want to take to prolong the life of a child or make what life it has the best it can be. Dr.'s and governments ALREADY DECIDE whether they think a child can be saved.... whether it's viable.
AHBritton 2 years ago
People young and old die every day. People should get the proper SIGNALS from the market to let them know whether or not they can afford a treatment or medical procedure. The only other option is to FORCE other people to pay for it through a communist or socialist system in which people have NO IDEA what kind of burden they are putting on others. This would lead to a society full of happier more productive people... but I guess I'm just a money loving communist.
AHBritton 2 years ago
AHBritton: That's the problem with most of these fundamental christian "conservatives". They talk all this bullshit about the free-market, and small gov., and how they hate to pay for someone else's child (the get off welfare argument); but as soon as something impedes on their outdated moral bible code, they suddenly love big gov. and wasteful spending...as long as it benefits their religious paradigm and forces others to do the same.
Orion1232 2 years ago
It's not a moral issue it's an ethical one. That aside, do you consider it moral to prolongue the suffering of parent and child when there is close to 0% chance of the child surviving to full term (at present). If a foetus has been born under 22 weeks, the moral thing to do, in this case, is to take the more difficult ethical choice.
dj2baduk 2 years ago
I have never seen any of your video's before today, but clearly you are not in touch with the real world and refer to the so called facts with little understanding yourself, pretty much like the media is general.
You need to understand the basic's of life before commenting on it. "IF" a baby was born at 22 weeks or earlier and was some how able to breath unaided (not possible) then the NHS would bend over backwards to help the infant. The FACT "Up until 21 weeks: 0% survival rate".
eoverington 2 years ago 4

It is free for those who can't work and don't pay taxes. The small amount of additional tax is the same, proportionally, for everyone and is offset against the cost of private healthcare. Also, everyone gets treated, regardless of income, or whether they have a pre-existing condition that would be excluded under private health care schemes. It's a fair system. It's also the only responsible system for a country with moral standards. It's also funded by higher taxes on alcohol and tobacco.
dj2baduk 2 years ago
"It is free for those who can't work and don't pay taxes."
Thats still not free! Someone is still PAYING for it. Do you know what happens when you raise taxes? hmmm....? People buy and consume less! Meaning the amount of taxes you bring in is rarely any more than you would have made without the tax! The extra tax on alcohol and tobacco is just going to drive down consumption and pull in no extra money.
PrayingForDaylight 2 years ago

dj2baduk 2 years ago
Yes it's still paid for, by people who CAN afford it because the lower their earnings, the less they pay in additional tax relative to what private health care would cost for their whole family, non-earners included. Extra tax on alcohol and tobacco does reduce their consumption, but it doesn't eradicate it. These represent the single biggest cause of health problems, yet the revenue they bring in, even with higher taxation, still covers more than twice the health costs in UK.

Quote mining is not a logical argument.

You're dishonest. You can brush off comments that disagree with your opinions, but we're both well aware how they eat at you. You're catering videos to the uneducated. Congrats.

So much pointless sensationalism. It's not news.
Reading the articles you posted as links I find it hard to rationalise how you paraphrased them in such a skewed manner.
RealitySwitch 2 years ago

What baby is healthy at 22 weeks?
Wait, are we talking 22 weeks into the pregnacy or 22 weeks after the baby is born.
If congress confirmed a lunatic, then those congressman need to be changed too.
StuffedAnimalAdvisor 2 years ago 2
Good question. The answer is zero. And no you're not mistaken. This moron, HTWW, actually thinks babies are born healthy at or before 22 weeks of development. Those women who carry their babies for 40 weeks are just prolonging the agony.:-P

Thanks for the enviromentalism story. It is a religion as I have said all along.

Jda4160 2 years ago
I must say though. I am impressed by this HTWW guy. I mean the guy flat out lies, he provides links to articles which prove he's lying, and people still think he's honest. It's kinda like when penn and teller reveal how they do their magic tricks and people are still can't figure out how they're doing it.

That or the guy has a severe case of ADHD. I mean, if you only read the headlines, and don't actually bother to read the full story, you might believe the same crap he believes.
theheartofachampion 2 years ago 2
On the topic of enviromentalism being a religion... this is due to a new law in the UK under which "'philosophical belief' is protected by the law alongside religious belief if it passes a legal test requiring it to be cogent, serious and "worthy of respect in a democratic society". So under this new law, even capatilism would be considered a religion.
theheartofachampion 2 years ago 4

Viability is usually 24 weeks, and the baby is most certainly not healthy and cannot breathe on its own.

That's just sad.
theheartofachampion 2 years ago 5
So I just read the ACORN article. I noticed you conveniently left out the fact that it was ACORN who "alerted authorities about the alleged illegal activity among some canvassers in Miami-Dade after finding ``numerous discrepancies'' on voter cards collected from the Homestead area."

Correction. It's time to get rid of all czars. We don't have czars. We're the fucking USA. Since when do we have any high-power officials without representative responsibility (wether it is perceived or real)?
MainTightSqueeze 2 years ago
dude, you talk about the NHS when you have a fucked up system where any baby without insurance dies. FUCK YOU!
scionlightning 2 years ago
Every baby gets care. The parents, however, have to pay for it if they don't have insurance.
HowTheWorldWorks 2 years ago
And if the parents can't pay?
Tough luck I guess, try next life, have another kid.
It's repulsive that such ideology exists in the XXI century. Supply and demand doesn't work with healthcare. Poor people demand healthcare as well, but they can't be supplied because they can't afford. And they can't work either because they are to sick.
Capitalism works only for luxuries. It's doesn't and shouldn't be applied to necessities such as healthcare.
ohmyfsm 2 years ago
There will always be poor people in any kind of society for many different reasons. get over it and stop whining about nothing.capitalism has already proved to work far better than socialism or facism.you also made a statement that i found strange..you just kind of assumed that all poor people are poor because they have no choice or they are all just sick because they are poor...very poor argument i'd say..in my state of massachusetts, you have to have health insurance by state law!
Jda4160 2 years ago
In my country my taxes pay for my health insurance.
I advocate for neither socialism nor fascism.
I do not wish the government to own the means of production, which is what socialism means, nor do I wish the government to dictate how I live my life, which is what fascism is.
I am simply saying, lives are more important than profits. You already have the among lowest taxes in the western world. Why would you mind paying a little more so poor and sick people can get help to?
ohmyfsm 2 years ago 2
And what if the insurance corporation refuses to pay. They are masters at making stuff up, pre-existing conditions, experimental care, it isn't covered.
Should a child be left to die because his parents cannot afford to treat him? What about a legal adult? Should an 18 year old be left to die if he cannot afford healthcare?
ohmyfsm 2 years ago
should our next generation of babies be bankrupt with the economy totally destroyed? im sorry, but all of your statements are absolutely rediculous. WHAT COUNTRY DO YOU LIVE IN?! is the USA really so bad that we kill babies every day? you really like to go with those conspiracy theories, huh?
Jda4160 2 years ago
no, i don't believe in conspiracy theories. what country? i'm an European citizen, that's all you need to know. deregulation destroyed the economy, and spending billions on your army and 2 useless wars.
