@Ashitanoyuki even though monks give up the suffering of lay life, they get other types of suffering. There's no escaping it. They're happy because they know how to react to suffering, not because they don't suffer.
Ahjan Brahm is one of the best buddhist teachers living today. He is so clear, eloguent and easy to understand. He has no false air and pomposity. I hope if he would make his teaching available to more people...places like in Korea, Japan and China. I hope he lives long and healthy.
I think they look happy because they don't worry too much about material objects. Once you turn into a monk or a nun, you give up things that make you worry, things like money, marriage, children, job... etc.
Reality is not always bitter. Buddha said in his first noble truth that "There is suffering." He didn't say that life is suffering. And he also explained what caused the suffering and how to cure it.
How popular he is, there is no single dislike :)))

reality is bitter.... who ever made this video trying to laugh Buddhism by using animation things on Buddhist monk which is not nice at all.
but search for Lord Buddhas thoughts when you have free time and learn something new.
Do not leave your current religion in one Dharma. just explore the Buddhism, see the reality. Good luck !
