The crappiest car I ever had was a 2005 Honda Accord---it didn't stand up to well to the crash "test" of someone skateboarding into the front fender--not only was the fender smashed in--the entire front end was knocked out of wack--had a body shop "fix" it twice--but the car was so full of defects--and it was bought NEW--I traded it in for a 2005 Chevy Malibu--never had a lick of problems with it!! It's now six years old and looks brand new!!
@IHeartArrowDynamics SERIOUSLY! I'm driving one as a rental this week, because my ford focus is in the shop.. I feel safer in the accord. and the crash tests of the focus prove it.
The fact that people feel the need to come on here and talk about how much better their new Ford's are just proves how badass Honda's still are and how they still rule the mountain lol :D
I own a honda accord 1997 and was just involved in a accident on oct 20th there was an accident on the freeway inside a tunnel and I ended up no being able to stop and rear ended a bronco at around 40 mph I was completely unharmed as was my mother and my father and yes the damage was pretty bad but the car even started up and the radiator was not even leaking even though the front was completely pushed in and I drove it home...25 miles with the front end smashed!
@mauiboypoi Agreed. But I expect each car to at least have a little flair to it. The Accords I had were great when it comes to safety, gas mileage, etc. But its was just ordinary like vanilla ice cream. It was average looking & had no distinct styling or creativity to it

Honda.. great car!.... and I love my Accord.... there is no substitute for good engineering.. They are worth every penny... Especially when it come to things like this!
@abadarian I completely agree. Honda may make a decent car but for what you get they are overpriced. You can get the same safety, same or better dependability, a better option selection and more features for less by buying a Ford Fusion instead.
You're paying for that Honda name. Honda has kept their reliability more consistently, building their brand's value. Ford makes good cars now, but for a while, they made terrible cars. My F-150 us great, but the market will bear much higher prices for Honda because they never screwed their customers like the big 3 used to. It's hard to undo lost cred. Ford's doing a good job trying, though.
@DTownzz Ford has made great cars for as long as Honda has done so. There is just this false perception that by paying more for a Honda you're getting a better car. As for your assertion that Ford "screwed their customers", in what way has Ford ever done this in the last 30 years?
@madhatter0110 never but honda is way better then ford in every way, ford has focus witch is a peace of trash and honda civic. ford taurus , honda accord,, fact is american cars are a peace of shit except for v8 engines
@mauiboypoi Statistics and consumers are not on your side of the debate here. Fact is that Ford not only has the best brand perception of any car manufacturer on the planet but also the best reliability, resale value, crash test results, features, and customer satisfaction. Honda used to be king of the hill three decades ago but despite their quality decline Honda vehicles remain overpriced and their customer satisfaction is still mediocre at best.
@madhatter0110 Best reliability, resale value, and crash test rating for a Ford is better then a Honda? I don't think so. No idea where you got your information. I know for a fact ford is no where near the quality of a Honda, I'm sorry but its the truth. Don't believe me? Ask any mechanic, google it, and take a look at w w w.autos.c o m and compare each car class for class. I own a Accord and the customer service I receive at the Honda dealership is superior.
@madhatter0110 ::Continued:: that dealership has also received many awards for customer satisfaction. I don't mean to sound like a fanboy and I am not arguing or starting an argument, I am just stating what I know and what I researched. I used to work at a Honda dealership and they treated the customers like kings and queens. My neighbor owns a Mercury Mountaineer, and he said the customer service at the Ford dealership he goes to is terrible. He said they ripped him off on several occasions.
@Seirei0417 Your opinion of Honda dealerships would be categorized somewhere in between biased and completely fabricated. Unless you are willing to pay MSRP, salespeople show you the door. Perhaps it is people who have enough money to be kings and queens who get such treatment and the rest are scoffed at. The Mountaineer is one of many rock solid and virtually problem free Ford products so the "terrible" customer service is likely an isolated incident or your neighbor lacks people skills.
@madhatter0110 I can this is going no where your a hardcore Ford fanyboy. As for Mountainer being rock solid please, like all fords its not built to last and break down at 30k miles. He bought the car brand new, brand new mind you, and at 20k and had nothing but trouble from 20k miles on up. The first problem was his Alternator died, then it was his starter, and then shortly after that his AC went out, Oh yeah Ford is on top for sure "Found On Road Dead" "Fixed Or Repaired Daily".
@madhatter0110 The only thing my neighbor lacks is a good car, he needs to trade the mountainer in for Honda or even a Toyota. Why do you think all Fords commercials say "Better then Honda and Toyota", because they know there being outdone by those 2 automakers. Like I said before the qaulity of a Honda is superior to that of a Ford, Funny I don't see any 20 year old Fords on the road but yet I do see plenty of old honda accords and civics, whats that tell you?
@Seirei0417 That tells me you are deliberately seeking the Hondas and ignoring the plethora of Fords still on the roads--especially trucks. Honda still makes a decent and increasingly overpriced car but for several years hasn't been able to hold a candle to any Ford product.
@madhatter0110 This is my last reply because I feel I am wasting my time. I usually never argue about anything ever with anyone online, so consider this my last reply. I'm just going to delete the emails say I got a reply instead of reading it. Anyways its a fact imported cars are better cars, just google it yourself. I'm sorry Domestic cars are far from being near the qaulity of an import. Everyone I know or talked to complained about nothing but trouble with there fords or past fords.Take Care
@Seirei0417 The testimony of a few do not represent the whole let alone override objectivity and statistics. Imports had fewer problems 25-30 years ago but since then import quality has declined and domestic has improved. For several years now Ford has consistently ranked top in brand perception, fewest warranty repairs, customer service, crash test data, and resale value. GM has recently eclipsed most of the import manufacturers as well. You can't argue with statistics and raw data.
The newer Accords (03-07) performed so well in this video because their weight has increased dramatically over the past couple decades. In the 80's the accord use to weight around 2000 lbs. These newer accords are full sized sedans weighing 3000+ lbs.
You are ignorant and can't even write English. You are too stupid to know what you are even talking about!? Look at the crash tests!!! The car is falling apart all over!!! Go look at Ford crash test, just the front gets crushed, that's FORD TOUGH.
HONDA is big marketing company that SELLS you on their products. In South America, people think HONDA is a luxury car!!! hahahaha. We all know Acura is the luxury model, but that's not what it's about. It's about selling you cars and MONEY!!!
All right listen. I thought you would smarten up after I said something but you want to contine you this. I am ignorant? I am far from that. The car is crumpled up for a reason. It has CRUMPLE ZONES. Notice how the area around the driver is not crashed up? Yes you do, that's because the impact was absorbed by the weaker materials that are put on the front of the car and stronger ones toward the cabin. Search it up man.
Well, I must say your English has improved 10 fold! Now I can have a civilized talk.
Compare apples with apples, keep the trucks out of this. All cars have crumple zones. We both know the most important part is the passenger compartment. My complaint about this paticular crash test shows extra damage to other parts of the car. The mirror goes flying off, potentially injuring bystanders.
It also goes flying off on the GM car, but not on the Ford. Ford did a better job on mounting it.
Yes you're right, it could hurt potential bystanders but who ever is that close to the crash we'll be injured or dead anyway. So yes I agree to a point. Also, the crash tests overall evaluation was good so I don't think they worried to much about that mirror.
o yeah, a really big improvement i saw a 2002 model, and the steeing wheel went into the dummies stomach, in real could of taken the persons breath out,,,
I will stand up and appologize for calling you ignorant. But don't blame me, look at your previous post! Your English was very poor.
I'm only pointing out here that Honda has weak points and deficiencies. I'm tired of people complaining how much it costs to repair these cars when they break, the fact is they break down just like any other mechanical device. It's just ridiculous when I hear people say they NEVER break down!! That's just too much crap for me to hear!
Yes I agree my English was horrible because I thought you wouldn't even respond. Anyway, had you put it that way and not "Cheap Honda crap" then I would've been fine with it. I got mad because that is not true. Everyone in my family drives a Honda and I can't recall any major problems. However, NEVER break down is an exaggeration. Still, they're labelled one of the most reliable for a reason! Apology accepted. I apologize too man. Now we can talk in a more humane fashion haha.
The other thing I don't like is the way the back tire and suspension break up when the rear end drops. Toyota's worse, the back tire actually dislodges from the suspension. GM is crap too but the Ford Fusion (closest to this class) maintained the back suspension. It doesn't really matter, a car after this kind of damage is a write off but these cars were built tougher 10 years ago (Honda and Toyota). These companies are riding on their name and letting quality drop. GM is already hopeless.
Cars are expensive to repair when they involve service to major components no matter who made it, especially when the repair must call for parts from the manufacturer and not from some 2nd rate aftermarket source.
As for my Honda Accord, scheduled preventative maintenance is adhered to and there are no problems so far. And, yes, it has never broken down, ever.
That has been my experience with Honda and GM overall and, obviously, YMMV since I wasn't that lucky with Ford.
I had an old 79 Corrola that I used to take off roading. It was air born more times than a bird! I knocked the tires off the rims a couple of times. I abused this car until I got tired of it. It never broke a spring, tierod or ball joint. Although I think my shocks were getting weak. I wouldn't try this with any car built today. I'm really not impressed with the crap they are making. Agreed, drive it carefuly it will last but nothing's built like the good old days! It's for money today!
As you say, they don't build them like they used to, but this has both positives and negatives.
Negatives are that various items, including bumpers, were reduced in size and weight as way to reduce the curb weight of vehicles, which did affect how well they could handle minor collisions. Plus, with computers, complexity has increased (though, some systems are robust with failures being rare, though they do occur).
Positives, however, are increased efficiency and refinement.
In addition, engineering has gotten to the point where the attitude is to make the design as efficient as possible: use the least amount of materials possible for the most benefit in the design. You only use what is needed to achieve a design goal instead of going overkill.
In addition, there's better understanding about how to design a structure that can protect occupants in a crash. Most cars back in the 70's didn't have that benefit so most cars tested would usually fail the same tests.
Very true, I guess I'm just getting old and grumpy. I see too many cars coming in and can't believe how expensive it's become to fix them. We didn't care how much gas they took or how safe they were. We just wanted them to go fast! I guess today they still want them to go fast but they also want them safe. Tomorrow I bet they'll be limiting the speed and HP to be more "green".
But I still gotta laugh at the kids driving their sicvics with the fart cannons!!
Well, in the case of kids driving Civics with such mods, the other problem is how they modify them improperly, such as applying a dangerous modification of the suspension system to get it to ride lower.
Despite the advantages of lower center of gravity, the benefits are negated as an improperly modified suspension cannot take that advantage to full benefit with its bouncy ride and traction on the inner edges of the tires.
If you were to crash your car in the same manner, I doubt the first thing on your mind is whether or not the mirror is still on the door.
As for it striking innocent bystanders, don't be facetious: in a violent crash, debris flying in all directions is going to be a given, no matter how well the car was made.
The point: the Accord performed well and will protect you in this kind of crash.
Your comment is as silly as it is ignorant and is deserving of the negatives that others have given it.
I'm just saying the car can be built better. They can use stronger steel to hold the mirror in place. Honda like everyone else is cutting back on quality. Of course who cares about the mirror in such a crash, the car is a complete write off. I don't care what people think, I'm a critic and I have a valid point. Honda's quality is dropping. I'm not the only mechanic saying so.
The mirror is usually held in place with plastic mountings in most cars.
And, in this video, the mirror isn't the point. The survival systems worked exactly like they should, using crumple zones and a strong safety cage to protect the occupants on what is generally a weakpoint on the structure; only about half the front structure being acted upon by collision forces.
A 1979 Corolla you mentioned, if factory-fresh, would likely flunk the same test.
Toyota lead the way in safety. I know that '79 corolla had crumple zones, you could see the pressure release points leading up to the passenger compartment. It was designed to colapse like an accordian (no joke intended on Accord).
There's still an arguement going on over this mirror? The Accord's evaluation was good so theres no point of arguing about anything. If the mirrors flying off were a problem then it wouldn't of got a good evaluation. All that is important is the drivers compartment.
Anyway, Watcher3223, what year Accord do you have?
Oh nice. I have a 1997 and still running strong with 300,000 km's. Haven't had one major problem with it. You wont have too much problems with yours either.
It's funny how they are going back to a chain drive after realizing that a belt failure basically condems the motor. Toyota has already done the same.
It's not about who the mirror can kill at that speed, it's about how they used to be better attached to the car. They are deliberately making all these cars to throw away in 10 years. I'm not talking about the old Honda's here, these are new Honda's like everything else these days built cheaper to make more money. I wish they were all built as good as they used to be.
Then again, if you were a highway patrol officer who was glanced by a car at high speed during a traffic stop, you'd be happy for a mirror that broke off easily than one that was attached so well that it would cut you into two before it would ever break off.
Now you are just fishing for good ideas that are not there. At any speed, this mirror would slice you even as it broke.
I have no doubt this is a well made car but I doubt very much it's better made than every other car available and I know it's not made as well as they used to be. This is not just based on the mirror, lol. I have much more experience than that.
Crap like that has happened too often. You'd change your thinking if it ever happened to you.
Would you rather be struck by a plastic mirror that'll give way or a chrome mirror that won't?
As for comparisons between old cars, new cars, and cars from all makes today, that depends on your particular idea of what constitutes good construction, despite experience.
Some are obvious, such as a driveshaft through an oil pan while others are improvements, such as the use of a more efficient design.
I fix cars, so I know what goes wrong. I also hear people shout about things they know absolutely nothing about. But hey, what do I care, everyone eventually comes and puts money in my pocket!
Of course I'm honest. I earn pleanty of money and I don't need to feel guilty. But the price of everything has gone up today through the roof! That mirror that breaks off so easily costs me $700, customers are upset and rightfully so. I hope no one ever knocks off your mirror in a parking lot. Don't park your car near the buggy returns!
Hey carexpert, you probably already know this, but almost all new car mirrors are DESIGNED to give to a certain extent, they have an extra hinge that collapses to the front or back without any damage to the car or the mirror. I don't doubt they CAN be broken, but if someone's car just BRUSHES the mirror, it would scratch the paint and push the mirror back, not snap it off! :)
Yeah, it's a really smart design. I like the Ford Trucks with the mirrors that extend out ward. I wonder when Honda is going to copy that idea. It's a good one to copy!
I believe that fact is already well-known, which is why I didn't bother to specify a mirror made of steel or aluminum and electroplated with chromium when I said "chrome mirror."
Get off at the next exit and pull over on a lower speed road, pulling over reasonably quick. A good officer will not find issue with this so long as you do not continue to violate traffic laws.
In addition, if you're an uninvolved driver, pull over to another lane, if possible, away from stopped emergency vehicles when its lights are flashing. Otherwise, slow down.
Usually, all respectable automakers today at least try to make a safe car; if an automaker makes a vehicle that doesn't perform well and if they do nothing to fix it, it's one kind of ammo your competitors can use against you in marketing (within reason in some cases, though) as well as one reason for your customers to choose someone else.
The newer Accords (03-07) performed so well in this video because their weight has increased dramatically over the past couple decades. In the 80's the accord use to weight around 2000 lbs. These newer accords are full sized sedans weighing 3000+ lbs.

why u talkin out of ur ass buddy.. u dont noe anything... ur gay chevy wud fall apart
killertepsic 4 years ago
You are ignorant and can't even write English. You are too stupid to know what you are even talking about!? Look at the crash tests!!! The car is falling apart all over!!! Go look at Ford crash test, just the front gets crushed, that's FORD TOUGH.
HONDA is big marketing company that SELLS you on their products. In South America, people think HONDA is a luxury car!!! hahahaha. We all know Acura is the luxury model, but that's not what it's about. It's about selling you cars and MONEY!!!
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
All right listen. I thought you would smarten up after I said something but you want to contine you this. I am ignorant? I am far from that. The car is crumpled up for a reason. It has CRUMPLE ZONES. Notice how the area around the driver is not crashed up? Yes you do, that's because the impact was absorbed by the weaker materials that are put on the front of the car and stronger ones toward the cabin. Search it up man.
Go hide under a rock kthnxbye...
killertepsic 4 years ago
Oh and I just searched some Ford crash tests. Just the front gets crashed up?!? One of them Ford pick ups folded in half almost. It's ridiculous.
killertepsic 4 years ago
Well, I must say your English has improved 10 fold! Now I can have a civilized talk.
Compare apples with apples, keep the trucks out of this. All cars have crumple zones. We both know the most important part is the passenger compartment. My complaint about this paticular crash test shows extra damage to other parts of the car. The mirror goes flying off, potentially injuring bystanders.
It also goes flying off on the GM car, but not on the Ford. Ford did a better job on mounting it.
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
Yes you're right, it could hurt potential bystanders but who ever is that close to the crash we'll be injured or dead anyway. So yes I agree to a point. Also, the crash tests overall evaluation was good so I don't think they worried to much about that mirror.
killertepsic 4 years ago
That would be with the previous generation F-150.
Look up the same crash test for the current F-150, which is a vast improvement.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
o yeah, a really big improvement i saw a 2002 model, and the steeing wheel went into the dummies stomach, in real could of taken the persons breath out,,,
Asad987654321 4 years ago
I will stand up and appologize for calling you ignorant. But don't blame me, look at your previous post! Your English was very poor.
I'm only pointing out here that Honda has weak points and deficiencies. I'm tired of people complaining how much it costs to repair these cars when they break, the fact is they break down just like any other mechanical device. It's just ridiculous when I hear people say they NEVER break down!! That's just too much crap for me to hear!
Thank You!
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
Yes I agree my English was horrible because I thought you wouldn't even respond. Anyway, had you put it that way and not "Cheap Honda crap" then I would've been fine with it. I got mad because that is not true. Everyone in my family drives a Honda and I can't recall any major problems. However, NEVER break down is an exaggeration. Still, they're labelled one of the most reliable for a reason! Apology accepted. I apologize too man. Now we can talk in a more humane fashion haha.
killertepsic 4 years ago
The other thing I don't like is the way the back tire and suspension break up when the rear end drops. Toyota's worse, the back tire actually dislodges from the suspension. GM is crap too but the Ford Fusion (closest to this class) maintained the back suspension. It doesn't really matter, a car after this kind of damage is a write off but these cars were built tougher 10 years ago (Honda and Toyota). These companies are riding on their name and letting quality drop. GM is already hopeless.
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
Cars are expensive to repair when they involve service to major components no matter who made it, especially when the repair must call for parts from the manufacturer and not from some 2nd rate aftermarket source.
As for my Honda Accord, scheduled preventative maintenance is adhered to and there are no problems so far. And, yes, it has never broken down, ever.
That has been my experience with Honda and GM overall and, obviously, YMMV since I wasn't that lucky with Ford.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
I had an old 79 Corrola that I used to take off roading. It was air born more times than a bird! I knocked the tires off the rims a couple of times. I abused this car until I got tired of it. It never broke a spring, tierod or ball joint. Although I think my shocks were getting weak. I wouldn't try this with any car built today. I'm really not impressed with the crap they are making. Agreed, drive it carefuly it will last but nothing's built like the good old days! It's for money today!
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
That was 1979.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
In addition, engineering has gotten to the point where the attitude is to make the design as efficient as possible: use the least amount of materials possible for the most benefit in the design. You only use what is needed to achieve a design goal instead of going overkill.
In addition, there's better understanding about how to design a structure that can protect occupants in a crash. Most cars back in the 70's didn't have that benefit so most cars tested would usually fail the same tests.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
Very true, I guess I'm just getting old and grumpy. I see too many cars coming in and can't believe how expensive it's become to fix them. We didn't care how much gas they took or how safe they were. We just wanted them to go fast! I guess today they still want them to go fast but they also want them safe. Tomorrow I bet they'll be limiting the speed and HP to be more "green".
But I still gotta laugh at the kids driving their sicvics with the fart cannons!!
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
Well, in the case of kids driving Civics with such mods, the other problem is how they modify them improperly, such as applying a dangerous modification of the suspension system to get it to ride lower.
Despite the advantages of lower center of gravity, the benefits are negated as an improperly modified suspension cannot take that advantage to full benefit with its bouncy ride and traction on the inner edges of the tires.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
yeah, you are completly rite, my frind has his 2008 civic coupe si lowerd, the body kit is bearly makes its over speed bumps wih a scrape,
Asad987654321 4 years ago
If you were to crash your car in the same manner, I doubt the first thing on your mind is whether or not the mirror is still on the door.
As for it striking innocent bystanders, don't be facetious: in a violent crash, debris flying in all directions is going to be a given, no matter how well the car was made.
The point: the Accord performed well and will protect you in this kind of crash.
Your comment is as silly as it is ignorant and is deserving of the negatives that others have given it.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
I'm just saying the car can be built better. They can use stronger steel to hold the mirror in place. Honda like everyone else is cutting back on quality. Of course who cares about the mirror in such a crash, the car is a complete write off. I don't care what people think, I'm a critic and I have a valid point. Honda's quality is dropping. I'm not the only mechanic saying so.
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
The mirror is usually held in place with plastic mountings in most cars.
And, in this video, the mirror isn't the point. The survival systems worked exactly like they should, using crumple zones and a strong safety cage to protect the occupants on what is generally a weakpoint on the structure; only about half the front structure being acted upon by collision forces.
A 1979 Corolla you mentioned, if factory-fresh, would likely flunk the same test.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
Toyota lead the way in safety. I know that '79 corolla had crumple zones, you could see the pressure release points leading up to the passenger compartment. It was designed to colapse like an accordian (no joke intended on Accord).
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
I would accord you the courtesy of the joke.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
There's still an arguement going on over this mirror? The Accord's evaluation was good so theres no point of arguing about anything. If the mirrors flying off were a problem then it wouldn't of got a good evaluation. All that is important is the drivers compartment.
Anyway, Watcher3223, what year Accord do you have?
killertepsic 4 years ago
2005, which is pretty much the same car crashed in this video.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
Oh nice. I have a 1997 and still running strong with 300,000 km's. Haven't had one major problem with it. You wont have too much problems with yours either.
killertepsic 4 years ago
Essentially. Maintenance (and not just oil changes) is kept up with the car.
Plus, I do like the fact that the 2.4L iVTEC uses a timing chain as opposed to a belt.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
It's funny how they are going back to a chain drive after realizing that a belt failure basically condems the motor. Toyota has already done the same.
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
yeah, what can a mirror do, hit your face, the bruise or cut is betta then getting out-lines in chalk,
Asad987654321 4 years ago
There's more than just a mirror to worry about if a crash happens to occur right in front of you, such as flying glass, metal, and plastic.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
It's not about who the mirror can kill at that speed, it's about how they used to be better attached to the car. They are deliberately making all these cars to throw away in 10 years. I'm not talking about the old Honda's here, these are new Honda's like everything else these days built cheaper to make more money. I wish they were all built as good as they used to be.
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
Maybe.
Then again, if you were a highway patrol officer who was glanced by a car at high speed during a traffic stop, you'd be happy for a mirror that broke off easily than one that was attached so well that it would cut you into two before it would ever break off.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
Now you are just fishing for good ideas that are not there. At any speed, this mirror would slice you even as it broke.
I have no doubt this is a well made car but I doubt very much it's better made than every other car available and I know it's not made as well as they used to be. This is not just based on the mirror, lol. I have much more experience than that.
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
Crap like that has happened too often. You'd change your thinking if it ever happened to you.
Would you rather be struck by a plastic mirror that'll give way or a chrome mirror that won't?
As for comparisons between old cars, new cars, and cars from all makes today, that depends on your particular idea of what constitutes good construction, despite experience.
Some are obvious, such as a driveshaft through an oil pan while others are improvements, such as the use of a more efficient design.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
I fix cars, so I know what goes wrong. I also hear people shout about things they know absolutely nothing about. But hey, what do I care, everyone eventually comes and puts money in my pocket!
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
So long as what you do is honest, then that's cool; you're earning your living.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
Of course I'm honest. I earn pleanty of money and I don't need to feel guilty. But the price of everything has gone up today through the roof! That mirror that breaks off so easily costs me $700, customers are upset and rightfully so. I hope no one ever knocks off your mirror in a parking lot. Don't park your car near the buggy returns!
CAREXPERT69 4 years ago
That's true too, the price of parts these days.
And, thanks for the advice. Fortunately, I've been lucky with my cars. Of course, luck can change so who knows what could happen.
Watcher3223 4 years ago
Hey carexpert, you probably already know this, but almost all new car mirrors are DESIGNED to give to a certain extent, they have an extra hinge that collapses to the front or back without any damage to the car or the mirror. I don't doubt they CAN be broken, but if someone's car just BRUSHES the mirror, it would scratch the paint and push the mirror back, not snap it off! :)
yreguy 3 years ago
Yeah, it's a really smart design. I like the Ford Trucks with the mirrors that extend out ward. I wonder when Honda is going to copy that idea. It's a good one to copy!

@Watcher3223 chrome is a color not a material
greenday987987 11 months ago
@greenday987987
I believe that fact is already well-known, which is why I didn't bother to specify a mirror made of steel or aluminum and electroplated with chromium when I said "chrome mirror."
Watcher3223 11 months ago
Well, don't pull over on the interstate :)
Get off at the next exit and pull over on a lower speed road, pulling over reasonably quick. A good officer will not find issue with this so long as you do not continue to violate traffic laws.
whattheheck1000 3 years ago
True.
In addition, if you're an uninvolved driver, pull over to another lane, if possible, away from stopped emergency vehicles when its lights are flashing. Otherwise, slow down.

Toyota is good at saftey, but i saw that the tocoma 03 model isnt that great,
Asad987654321 4 years ago
Usually, all respectable automakers today at least try to make a safe car; if an automaker makes a vehicle that doesn't perform well and if they do nothing to fix it, it's one kind of ammo your competitors can use against you in marketing (within reason in some cases, though) as well as one reason for your customers to choose someone else.
