this piece represents i.m.o the ultimate peak of classical composing. in a staggering mere 46 measures, all is said that can be said, all is expressed that can ever be expressed. thank you MOZART, for passing onto us the divine spirit!
Thank you andantekit. Though wishing to be interred as compost under a tree on my aussie bush block, I would like this version of Mozart's gorgeous hymn to humanity played somewhere over me when finally I shuffle off this mortal coil - as a parting gift. This must be the closest to a whisper and mournful lullaby ever heard from a choir. A transcendently beautiful masterpiece...
This and the Bernstein version are quite moving. I had the supreme pleasure of singing this short, yet awesome work with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (NY) under the direction of Christopher Seamon in Vail, Colorado, July, 2006, as an encore following a performance of the Mozart Requiem that brought Seamon to tears. I will relive that night in my heart forever.
God gave us Mozart so that we can be shown how He should be worshipped. It should be done with reverence, deep respect joy and love. This piece must be the most beautiful composition he has ever written. Absolutely heart-melting. It makes one want to go down on bended knees in humble adoration of Almighty God.
@jrakg he wrote his best compositions when his death was near, now imagine if he lived 60 years old, maybe he would be considered indeed the best all time composer
It's hard to describe something when you're breathless.

Mozart war wahrhaftig ein Genie. So eine wunderschöne und passende Melodie zu diesem Text/Gebet zu komponieren ist eine grandiose Leistung.
