  • @BernyScilly funny. Just read that whole book to my daughter, tonight.

  • soylent green is people soylent green is people soylent green is people i'm having a flashback and i want to stay there

  • Absolut der Hammer Song..Dafür liebe ich Pink Floyd

  • Ahhh. Swing gently. Thank you.

  • This is England

  • Love the guitar in this song, so easy to play yet so effective. I'm proud to be a teenager and still listen to this music<3

  • @xxEmoLullabyxx I am proud to be an acid-eating embryo

  • Excellent interpretation of one of the most beautiful PF songs. Peace and quiet surround these sweet notes of Grantchester Meadows. Tank you for uploading!

  • conwy1, what the tape you got this from a bootleg, and if not what was the catalog number of the tape?

  • Superbe vidéo! Super cool! J'adore!!! >Merci!

  • whoever disliked this has absolutely no taste in music.

  • icy wind of night be gone, this is not your domain . . .

  • Relaxing, it is.

  • My real question is why do the typical, FM rock stations, or more progressive radio stations, play your typical fare of well - known and renowned Pink Floyd stable of hits rather than more obscure, but no less relevant and inspiring, musical works such as this? It seems they do a disservice by not recognizing other, less played, but just as important pieces of music.

  • Check my profile for the Pink Floyd Inspired Concept album I wrote!

  • I've been a Floydie for years, but never heard Umma Gumma before! This song is just beautiful! It reminds me of A Pillow Of WInds from the Echoes album, one of my favorites and partly responsible for the seducton of my now wife of 12 years;) I'm off to see Roger Waters perform The Wall on Wednesday at the 02 in London and I can't wait!

  • @jonthegardener Umma Gumma (the studio version) is garbage. This is the best song on the album by far. The rest of the album is littered with weird experimental instrumentals which sometimes have an interesting appeal to them but, for the most part are pretty boring.

  • @skitch88, the flyswatter is part of Several species of small furry things grooving on a pict!!!

  • @LadyTaurus5554 The fly swatting definitely occurs at the end of Granchester Meadows. Click on one of the Umma Gumma versions of the song on You Tube, you'll find it.

  • like goodbye blue sky

  • i LOVE early Floyd. Damn thats good stuff!!

  • Wasn't the fly swat in the segue between Grantchester Meadows and "Several species..."

  • I feel like going home when I listen to this

  • @digarara

I know exactly what you mean

  • conwy1, that has been left out because it is too psychedelic for these days.

  • hey what happened to the fly getting swatted?

  • @skitch88

Don't know it was not on this version

  • @conwy1 The fly swat was in the change over to the next track on the lp. The cave song I recall

  • Comment removed

  • @skitch88

The fly getting swatted is the beginning of "Several species of small fury animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict.

  • @kevinsweet are you sure about that? it fades in as the guitar fades out. it could be the end of the song.

  • @skitch88 Different song.

  • @skitch88 that's not in granchester meadows, that's in several species of small furry animals grooving together in a cave with a pict. common misconception.

  • @skitch88 it was on ummagumma version

  • oh is it not normally this long? it was always as long as this. or is it?

  • @skitch88

Check out the originals length on the album Ummagumma it is 7.28. This version is a good deal longer at 9.41

  • @conwy1 I am glad to say I kept my original Umma Gumma vinyl LP and still have it. I studied at Cambridge as well as being an early Pink Floyd fan, so it evokes many memories for me. Mind you, I must have been innocent - it's only relatively recently I found out what Umma Gumma means !

  • beautiful subtle acid

  • omg who could possibly dislike this?

  • I walked this meadow in the summer of 2009, from Cambridge to Grantchester. A 45-50 minute lovely walk, just because of this music... never forget.

  • I'm so sorry for the one who gave the "thumbs down" . Mu

  • @helenthemu - I want to think it was a mistake

  • @helenthemu I think you may have misunderstood by comment. I love the song and the place it conjours up in my mind - also the "Band" Someone had already given the "thumbs down" all I meant was WHY? How could someone NOT love this!

  • Nigel "Dane " Holland...rest in Peace

  • God will smile on you for sharing this MASTERpeice

  • God will smile on you for sharing this MASTERpeice

  • FLOYD DOMAINS AND REIGNS SUPREME...

  • wow dude you have a real treasure here

  • Nothing repays close listening more than a Floyd record. Listen to the bug noise at 4.06 thru 4.10, sounding like a tiny trumpet in the far background. It's funny. Foreshadows the "Small Furry Animals" piece that's on its way.

  • Just absolutely beautiful. Friggin awesome job on the video too. : )

  • Fantastic song and I am in awe of the photography. Well done thoroghly enjoyable.

  • Good song for waking up

i Love that it's my waking alarm ^^

  • os caras são os mestres

    Pink Floyd é eternooo

  • Has anyone ever notice that the begining to the song of the bird is the beginning of several species of small furry animals, at first was wounder what the hell is the wrong with these bird, damn that really superised me, love pink floyd, I like the way rodger waters displayed this song as a remembrance of syd barret in the pepsi center that was a perfect concert. Love the harmony of this song.

  • I ilke the English countryside... it´s great for long walks in the summer.

  • So beautiful

    Definitely one of my favourites

It makes everything seem even visually prettier

  • happy memories of pink floyd in birmingham and life as a student at cambridge

  • Very well done! I loved it. If it wasn't so cold and windy over here right now, I'd like to go punting on the Cam.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks for uploading this long lost song...!

  • i love the expression on the face of the fox at 7:40... :)

  • @conwy1

Oh well done! I loved your original video sequences, but this has me hankering so much for Spring and Summer.

Beutiful marriage of a beautiful song with beautiful images. Thank you.

  • A great song from a superb band.

I love the video, well chosen images that make an ideal compliment to the songs lyrics.

    WELL DONE!

  • Beautiful video...

About the song is useless to speak... Pink Floyd are great.

  • I love this video! Awesome images to go with an awesome song! Great job! 5* glittering stars!

  • SPRING TIME

    PRIMAVERA

    PRINTEMPS

    enjoy

  • isso é um mundo! estive aqui!

  • I don't think Water sounds monotonous and flat, but I do think their duet on the KQED performance is slightly superior to this version.

  • i cry when i listen to this song im not kidding its just that good

  • PINK FLOYD IS THE FUCKING BEST!

  • Magnificent song. Beautiful visuals. Thanks!

And a river of green is sliding

    Unseen beneath the trees

    Laughing as it passes

    Through the endless summer

    Making for the sea

  • i live in cambridge. go grantchester meadows all the time. im only 16 lol. this is crazy. great song. really nice

  • im 15 and live in nevada and their is just nnoone quite my age who likes what i like yet their is no one who has been through what ive been through.

  • This song came out when I was 15, at the time I liked Pink Floyd, I could never understand why they should do a song about 'our meadows'.

  • Absolutely Beautiful! This was always my favorite song on Ummagumma, an album I always thought was a bit over-rated. Lot's of filler. This song's a gem, however.

  • bout the time this came out,i "wrote a poem" for my 10th grade english class. i had not a clue my english teacher like floyd............

you can imagine my surprise.. (god bless mrs. martin for not burnin me on this one. she gave me an a just the same)

  • HAHA! I might try that if the opportunity ever arises =P

  • @edslides I did the same thing with;, "Careful With That Axe Eugene;" didn't go over so well...

  • @edslides wow... your a fag for plagurizing pink floyd.... your not a poet at alll.... your a fucking disgrace to life....... I SWEAR ON MY SOUL you dont know how much that irritates me.......seriously....... your a retard...... i m so fed up with people like you. its soooo easy to write poems and simply rhyme...... i have a whole book. i guess your just not intellegent. but then again, ive hung out with the special needs kids at my school and theyve made poems... so what does that mean for you.

  • @xXBlinDXx12 lol i'm fed up with people callin people fags.

  • @5PointEarth you wouldnt have to be if you didnt plagurize. thats some disrespect. i dont think you really know what it would feel like if someone tried to take credit that you wrote, and you dont know if that particular song means something to them. it would piss me off if that happened to me.

  • I used to listen to this song in the late 70's all the time in Germany while sitting and waiting for my f-15 Eagle to return from a sortie. Ah the good old days of being 19 and living in one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

  • @xXBlinDXx12 I wasn't disagreeing with what you were saying lol but you couldn't think of anything other then fag? :\ I know you probably didn't mean anything bad towards Homosexuals, i just hate it when people say fag.

  • @5PointEarth very understandable. its "lame," then, that you plagurized and tried to get credit and failed. whatever thoguh. just make up your own shit, thats all. its pretty easy. and thats how you pretty much write songs.

  • @xXBlinDXx12 Woah wait.. you make it seem like I am the one who did something wrong? :P :|

  • @5PointEarth i called you a fag in the whole first place cause you said you plagurized this song for a poem and truned it in, but your teacher was a floyd fan and you failed. right?

  • @xXBlinDXx12 Noooo LOL that wasn't me! You were talkin to someone else, i just saw that you said fag and replied lololol!

  • @5PointEarth oh.. hahaaha i didnt even notice. shiiieeettt.

  • @xXBlinDXx12

i wrote the comment about the "poem"

you called me a fag for it? i was a 17 year old stoner, and "plaigerism" was the last thing on my mind. i was a stoner who had no poem writing skills, but i could have made a bong out of a pair of cheerleaders panties.

she called me to her desk the day she handed the papers back and told me "you should write songs for pink floyd"

and you must have skipped english that day, because i clearly stated that she gave me an 'a' for it.

  • @xXBlinDXx12 Yeah, but note the slight guitar error at 0.41.(they are human after all)....by the way the word is "plagiarised"...no biggy

  • @xXBlinDXx12

post one of your hit singles lyrics.

  • @edslides1 i dont have single hits, but atleast i have poetry... Stained silence lurks beneath the tables Confusion distorts desired escape ways A calamity of minds circum to pills Dead in the head without any vibe no reason to stay alive contemplation back and forth contradicting your own thoughts young stage like children aware of things but not quite sure of anything not enough characters to finish the poem this is half of it i have a band too and on my profile are sum myriffs
  • @edslides I did the same thing, luckily for me, the instructor was Floyd ignorant and I also got an A. Great song for plagiarism.

  • @edslides She was on acid Ha! :-)

  • merci !! Iwas 17, long Hair and good ears,

  • i have this version on the

ummgumma album i got.....but i dint know its a rare version...

  • there wasn't an acoustical song that zeppelin did better than this. they only tried to copy this song if you listen to their acoustical stuff. also listen to "suite judy blue eyes" by crosby stills and nash, and you'll hear this song weaved in. there is not too much to the song, just a beautiful riff that you want to hear again and again.

  • *-*

  • what a beautiful song! so nice to hear it, reminds me of summer

  • I copied it from an American import tape, I picked up from Rare Records London in the seventies

  • @conwy1 thank the makers you posted this!!!it will join my collection of ALL floyd material,,,im only 43,,but have seen floyd live 3 times ,,been in love with their music since 5th grade,,,and try my best to find all i can!!would love to come across recordings like you came across so many years ago,,,

  • Where'd you get this? This extended version wasn't on Pink Floyd-Ummagumma (Studio) album.

  • Why do we seek paradise after life when it's already here?

*do not seek and thou shall find*

  • Well done indeed!!!
