@NightmareSymphony It can take a bit of time for one to really "get into" Minecraft; for example, at first, I didn't really like it, but now, it's one of my favorite games. :)

@BlueFalconLPs A game shouldn't take more than a few hours to really get into it. I realize that's just my opinion, but still. If it feels like it's a chore just to get to a point where I'm "into" the game, then that's a fundamental flaw in my eyes. Even a game as infuriatingly hard as Dark Souls was fun to me from the beginning thanks to solid game play and a good story. Maybe I'll try Minecraft again sometime, but I don't see it happening.

The reason it is popular is that it allows for total creativity. YOU have to build everything yourself, and you can let your friends see the marvilous creation you've built.

This should be enough to attract some people, and adding mobs and dungeons to it only helps.
