the reason the laplander gives a rougher surface is cos every second tooth got a slight outward angle, this is to ensure the cut gets wider than the saws spine with eliminates the saw getting stuck, very usefull in wider branshes or sappy wood, reason the silky pocket got a finer surface to the cut is cos it has not.
Great review thanks. I have a Laplander but I bought a Silky SUPER ACCEL 210 based on your review here and I love it, it's so good I bought a Silky Bigboy also, it's big enough to cut serious logs for a serious wintertime fire
my weapon s of choice ARS G18 or my pocket saw the ARS 210DX! ( also have loads of fixed blade sawsi use pro) the new pull saws also cut a little on the push just not as much as on the pull its done as its easyer to cut on the pull not to do with the metal ! great honest review keep up the gd work !
silky will do better in the harder wood due to having more finer teeth and will last longer! the laplander was good in its day ! however the new jap saws are great ! the pocket boy is not the saw id have picked to compare it with as it is heavy in comparison se as you concluded the silky is only a little better after u take te price and everything into it ! maybe the silky f180 ?
Helpful video. The real test, however, is a comparison on hardwood. On soft wood it's like comparing which bullet passes easiest through paper. The will both do well. A hardwood like Hickory will go from wood to something like cutting a pipe. So that's why I say a hardwood test would be more telling.
Good video. I've never used a folding saw and was quite suprised at how quickly they cut. I can definitely see how they are much more effecient at that type of task than a knife.
Really really good video Josh. The Laplander is an outstanding tool! If you know where to look you can pick them up for as low as £7!!! Also the Pocket Boy in the first test might have cut cleaner & faster because there was no weight from the tree pushing down on to the blade.
nice review buddy, i saw you at the wilderness gathering and was going to say hi but i was on my way to a wild edible course, i looked for you after but couldn't seem to find you again :( you are the first person i have met on youtube i have seen in real life ;P
Great review. I would think the Laplander would saw quicker mainly because it saws in both directions, not just during the pull like the other one. The teeth must be really sharp! Now I have to try to find one.

What is the TPI of the blades? I notice the Silky saws have a choice of 4 different TPI from 7 to 22.
