Bought mine a few weeks back with the 2.2 diesel SD4 (the 140kW version). It's a dream to drive and economical. Weather's a bit wintery right now but looking forward to taking it to our nearby beaches and sandhills soon. Don't like the fob instead of a key, it means a double action to start the vehicle, but otherwise all good so far. A very smart looking car that is no slouch passing at highway speeds, a great interior too, my wife loves it and she is not one to be enthusiastic about a new car.
Just got one, HSE, Rimini Red, UK 2.2 TurboDiesel, All the buttons, All the switches, Forget the X Trail, Quashqi, Kuga, Sportage etc. How's this for attention to detail, the overhead handles are damped return, only found that out today !
@JSics21 The original Freelander had a few issues. The cylinder head gasket in the petrol (gasoline) version was prone to failure. My former colleague experienced this at a mere 17000 miles, which is not great. The problems seem to have been ironed out in the Freelander 2, and I am considering getting one myself. Hope this helps.
Just got mine the other day 2.2 TD4 GS model. Great looking car and handles great on the road. Gonna take it off road soon. Its really a baby Range Rover!!!!!
Yes. I have had the LR2 since June 2007 and it has been problem free (opposite of the Freelander before). Recently there has been one recall regarding a slow leak in a coolant hose. I haven't had any coolant problems myself though. I would definitely recommend the LR2.
I also have a LR2 (Freelander 2 in the rest of the world except North America). It copes with the Canadian winter very well and does it with reliability, refinement, and good fuel economy for a 4x4 its size. My only criticism is not of the vehicle itself but of the lineup. I wish that Land Rover Canada would bring the 2.2 turbodiesel here. i'm sure it would sell well!!
the best light suv by far,i agree 100% that only an idiot would by a bmw X3 instead of this well built, good looking and highly capable off roader, bought my freelander 2 end of 2007 so far can nly say goog things about this amazing suv.
I bought a Freelander 2 or as they say in the USA "LR2" but I'm going to Amsterdam for Spring Break and I'm going to buy a Freelander 2 badge from there.
Im guessing you guys liked the Freelander, you certainly gave it a good rap. After this video i am going to have a drive of one. I was looking for a 4wd/AWD but this seems to fit what i am after.
The fat bastard still makes me laugh. More genuine than most of the TV presenters. Not trying to be funny like the Aussie Top Gear. Wasnt that a dissapointment!!!

I saw one pass by the other day and it was sooooo good looking.
I mean it doesn't have any special beauty like an aston martin but there is something about it that makes me want to have one.
good car.
