  • Very cool, thank you!

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Honestly, this is so relaxing to watch. I like watching the empty frame and then it gets transformed into a nice picture.

  • In 08:20 Did you say "don't use water"? I don't how do you do to mix the colours so well (I'm sorry for don't understand all in your video, but I speak spanish).

  • I just got oil & acriylic paints and I was serching for youtube video's on how to get started.. & I saw yours and thought 'Wow, Your really good at teaching.' So i was woundering, How can I get classes, From you. :)

  • beautiful background

    beautiful woman too

  • i was wondering what was the kind of brush your using :D its so nice thanks

  • ow , i don't own extender, i was wandering, is there any thing i can use as a substitute..? because the thing i find hard with acrilics is that i don't know how to work with the speed of it drying. i'm trying to do an underpainting for a portrait and i don't know what colours to do first! the dark colours or the lighter colours?

  • nice videos!!!

  • Thanks Nadeen for the tutorial, I have been searching for a video on aclyric background doing, thank god i found yours.. Could you please tell me the names of those brushes, the one you use to blend, what is it called. And also, do we need an extender or can i do without it, what does it do?

  • @Caramenne The large brush is a filbert...or Oval filbert. I always use Extender, with acrylics, you just don't have the playing time, most especially if you live in a dry climate. My most favorite Extender is DecoArt Traditions Extender and Blending Medium. I have tried them all and this is the only one that does not get sticky or gummy. We sell this from our website at the Art Apprentice Online. By the 8ox. bottle you'll never regret it! Enjoy!

  • Love it.

  • Looks great Nadeen!!...~Keni

  • @Bully4oru Glad you like this one!

  • I truly love this background. I learned a good deal about creating a great background which will work for a number of subjects. I also very much enjoyed your instruction. You appear so confident and at ease teaching. You're a natural! Thank you.

  • @THESHOMROM Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I hope one day you'll join me in my online classes at our online schools.

  • The acrylic paint and extender does not harm my brushes... In fact the extender prevents the paint frpm drying in the ferrule. I never use water when I am painting.

  • Neadeen! Your an inspiration to me! I've always had trouble with blending acrylic paint because it dries so fast. Couple questions for you.. is there an acrylic extender that you recommend? After you base your canvas how long does it last for? And lastly.. do you ever dip your brushes in water or extender during the painting process?...won't the acrylic dry and ruin the brush?

  • @shalukuttan Thanks for the comment. First, let me say that the best Extender on the market is the DecoArt Traditions Extender. (you can buy it from us in our shopping cart) I have used it for close to 9 years and would never use another brand. It does not get sticky or tacky. I usually have about 20 minutes to work, (I live in a very dry area in Canada)

  • Hello Nadeen I love your blending but Im wonder how you keep your paint on the palette moisture? Thanks

  • Thanks for the help :)

  • Wait, what type of retarder are you using? Sorry if you said it and I missed it~ (._. )

Also, may I ask why you don't mix your own colors by using the primaries and white? Just curious.

    Lovely video, though~ =]

  • Thanks so much for the positive feedback. Extender is a medium that will slow the drying time. There are many brands on the market, however this is the ONLY brand I will use with acrylics. Why? As it dries it will not get sticky or gummy. Most all other brands I have worked with will get sticky and be next to impossible to work on, unless you stop and dry completely. By then your paint has dried and its difficult to get the smooth transitions of values. Visit our community for additional info.

  • great technique! Looks really lovely :)

  • This was an awesome video...thank you so much!!!

  • What is extender???

  • Very informative! What a beautiful background! I just started learning how to paint with acrylics last month. Keep those videos coming! Thanks!

  • im curios as to what extender is too.. i mean to be fair i have no formal education in painting. but for my acrylic pieces ive always used water even if the outcome wasnt aslways what i wanted. so yeah, im curious, what's extender?

  • Is the 'extender' you speak of, another word for retarder. Or, are you using retarder as well as extender. If so, what is the extender doing? Thank you.

  • @madEyebrows - Yes it is...however many retarder gels and mediums will become sticky as they dry. This one does not. The brand that I prefer above all others in the DecoArt Traditions Extender and Blending Medium. We sell this on our website and it's very inexpensive. Go to our website and visit our online store.

  • wonderful video, thank you :)

  • What is extender? and how do I make some?

  • Thank you it really helped my with the blending of my painting! and you look like my mom

  • going to try, but whats extender?

  • @machooox Extender is a medium that 'extends' the drying time of acrylics. You usually add it to acrylic paint or in this case, paint it on the canvas first. You can buy it at any art store. :)

  • @machooox Extender is an acrylic medium (or you could call it an additive) that you use to keep acrylic paint wet longer. In this case I think she's using it to also let the paint move easily, kinda like Magic White for wet-in-wet oil painting.

  • @peachy6969 is it like retarder gel...or is it retarder gel???????

  • 6:05 ....is that a smoke ...cool

  • Awesome. That's exactly what I'm going for. Thanks for the video.

  • Beautiful background, cant wait to go home and try this. Thank you!
